  1. The circus play would never have happened if Escobar didn't let that double play grounder go under his glove. His bat has been good, but the defense has taken a big step backward this year in my eyes.
  2. Lately, I would agree with you, but overall for the season he has been better than we've seen in the past.
  3. Polanco could hit under .200 for the year and would still easily make the team next year. He's always shown he can hit prior to this year, and the defense has taken a step forward. He's too talented to give up on at his lowest value right now.
  4. This is the second worst loss of the season for me. Castro pinch hitting for Polanco is one of the worst moves ever made by Molitor, and that's saying a lot.
  5. Just for perspective, if Berrios qualified, and he's pretty close, the Twins would have 2 pitchers in the top 10 AL ERA leaders. There's basically only 2 starters in the AL you're really worried about going against.
  6. That would be great, but I doubt he has much value despite the very good defense.
  7. I disagree with the first sentence. Getting a steady veteran (assuming he can manage to stay healthy for a few months) is just the type of move this team needs.
  8. This is the type of deal I was hoping would be made to stabilize the rotation.
  9. Another game where the offense wastes numerous opportunities. They've done a good job of getting the minimum out of the maximum lately.
  10. If the regular OF was out there, 3 of those runs don't score. And you just said it in this post: Houston had a couple bad days offensively. Why couldn't that happen in a playoff series against the Twins? Stranger things have happened.
  11. Also, Grossman let a ball drop in front of him in the 2nd inning, part of 3 straight hits with 2 outs to score the first Houston run.
  12. The Twins were "lucky" 2 years ago, and they had a chance up to the final weekend of the season. Take advantage of this position in the standings (if they get through this tough stretch of games in decent shape), make some minor trades at least, and we can have something to root for the rest of the season.
  13. The goal is to win the division. Once you get in, anything can happen. We just saw Kyle Gibson shut down the Astros (if the JV wasn't playing). Opportunities to win a weak division don't come around every year.
  14. Why does Rosario get CF instead of Kepler? Kepler has way more range in my opinion.
  15. The only way the Twins sell in my mind is if they fall a few games below .500 in these next 3 series. As long as they go 4-5 or better, they should at least stand pat and make a minor move for the bullpen or the 5th starter spot. I don't see Cleveland running away with the division, and KC isn't really a team to worry about, so this seems like a good year to make a run at it.
  16. Zack Granite hitting in the 2 hole tonight and playing LF. Looking forward to that. Dozier Granite Sano Kepler Grossman Vargas Polanco Castro Buxton
  17. I think we've seen enough of these soft tossing lefties over the past few years. Hurlbut is a nice guy to have give you solid innings in the minors, but his pitching style usually doesn't translate.
  18. 3B would seem to be a waste of his great speed and quickness. I would say either 2B or the OF.
  19. Jonathan Rodriguez is putting together a nice first season in the Twins system. Even as a 27 year old in AA, his numbers are pretty good, including hitting .447 in his last 10 games.
  20. Buxton won't turn 24 until December. Just FYI.
  21. Jorge Polanco is having an interesting season. He's shown that he can at least be near average defensively at SS, but his bat has been the big disappointment. He got off to a decent offensive start, but has really struggled the past month or so. Has anyone noticed pitchers pitching him differently?
  22. Berrios has come a long way from last year. What he was able to do while not having his best stuff was pretty impressive. Hopefully the AS break can help him regroup and be ready for a strong 2nd half.
  23. Gibson has earned himself a long leash with his solid outings since the recall. I have to believe Santiago is out of the rotation, probably to the DL, with 1 more bad outing. Give Felix Jorge that spot, promote Gonsalves and Romero to AAA would be my plan.
