  1. I think Brian Dozier needs to be the one to regain his form from the weeks leading up to the AS break so he and Sano can co-carry this team to the playoffs. He's only hitting .210 with a .668 OPS in the 2nd half. It's also pretty interesting that his OPS in wins is .912 and only .627 in losses. And he only has 19 of his 70 RBI in losses in roughly the same amount of games. I think this shows how important it is that he gets on track in these games down the stretch.
  2. I think you have to give it to Berrios because of the strikeout numbers. By the way, does anyone else always get Pat Dean and Brett Lee mixed up when reading about them? They just seem so similar with the single-syllable names and both being lefties with mediocre strikeout rates.
  3. With our luck, he probably hurt the hamstring when hustling on the ball he hit off the catwalk.
  4. No, it shows that the Twins were willing to put a mediocre-hitting shortstop in left field, which makes it unlikely that they would rule out a guy who is a superior fielder out there.
  5. I think that might be a bit over the top. Eduardo Escobar started 27 games in the OF this year, where he was twice as bad as Arcia has been. The Twins now having 3 solid left-handed hitting corner OFers to find somewhere to play in the next year or two should make for some interesting competition (and hopefully no more Shane Robinson starts).
  6. A slight upgrade over Duensing then I suppose. AJ Achter is my guess for the player to be optioned.
  7. The Twins are always stuck at the bottom of the league in HRs...so the rational thing to do is trade away your second best power hitter, right?
  8. There has to be something physically hurting him right now, or maybe the hip injury messed up his mechanics. Either way, I really hope they hold onto him because this team needs more guys with HR power, especially from the left side.
  9. Sano has shown he can use the whole field though. He's got at least two RBI hits the other way already, and he has crushed a double off the limestone in right field too.
  10. I'm a bit concerned that the guys tied for 4th in HRs only have 9 at this point in the season. That just shows that there isn't much power depth in the system. Is this an area of concern? Or do young guys like Lewin Diaz and Amaurys Minier have the potential to fill that void in the coming years?
  11. Ned Yost's picks are a joke. Kelvin Herrera, Darren O'Day, and Jose Iglesias over Brian Dozier? Really? He could've easily picked Xander Bogaerts instead of Brock Holt and then Dozier instead of Iglesias. Iglesias has 1 HR and 12 RBI and Holt 2 HR and 21 RBI.
  12. The biggest weakness on this team is probably the bullpen. Why not stick Tommy Milone or Mike Pelfrey there and send Aaron Thompson down?
  13. The Twins have always valued outfield defense? Is that why Eduardo Escobar played 26 games in LF this year?
  14. Eduardo Escobar does not need to be in the lineup everyday, especially when they stick him out in LF, where his fielding is terrible.
  15. Definitely Perk deserves it, and maybe Dozier and Plouffe too. The problem is that 2B and 3B are probably the most loaded positions. Also, does everyone agree that fan voting is a terrible way to determine the starters. The fact that Omar Infante is second among 2B despite terrible numbers and Mike Moustakas is almost 400,000 ahead of Josh Donaldson is ridiculous. Hopefully that gets corrected. And wow, shortstop is really weak in the AL. I didn't realize it was quite that bad.
  16. Right now I'm leaning towards Kyle Tucker. That swing really is a thing of beauty.
  17. I'll definitely be following Booser's season. Anybody that can throw upper 90's from the left side is very intriguing, especially if he's developing a decent slider to go along with it.
  18. I completely disagree. I think Arcia is one of the players who shows the most emotion and joy for the game of anyone on the roster. This is also a guy who hit 20 homers in only 103 games last year, so patience is the key.
  19. I thought Trevor May pitched really well. Without some of those defensive misplays and a bunch of soft hits falling through, I'm guessing he would have had a nice line today. But that's just how it goes sometimes.
  20. I don't really think that this play was as egregious as you're making it sound. It was a routine grounder to second, and the only reason anyone noticed he didn't hustle was because Micah Johnson made a bad play in the field. BTW Johnson appeared to make quite a few fielding mistakes throughout the series.
  21. I agree that he needs to modify his approach some, and that's on him and on the coaching staff too. I just want to see him challenged against tough lefties and playing every day, because he's probably not going to get better by sitting on the bench.
  22. Arcia is a streak hitter at this point. They should just keep playing him, because when he gets hot, he is extremely dangerous. And even when he's in a cold spell, he can still run into a few. And what's the point of not playing a guy with a ton of potential when you're rebuilding?
  23. The thing that frustrates me the most is the handling of Oswaldo Arcia. I think he should be starting every game for the obvious reason that he has the most hitting potential of anyone on the roster, and I also don't agree with the decision to pinch hit Torii Hunter for him the other day, even if he has to face a lefty reliever.
  24. I have to break my silence and make my first post after reading this article. I'll start by saying that I believe Trevor May and Aaron Hicks should have made the team based on their current talent and their future contributions to this team. We all know that Tommy Milone and Shane Robinson are in the range of bad and mediocre at best, and they have little to no chance at becoming anything of value for the Twins in the future. What a joke.
