  1. Really? I was hoping they would bring in a new staff after the clock management debacle. I suppose this means another year of Mitch Leidner at quarterback too. Yay.
  2. Twins had a lot of outfielders. Yankees had a lot of catchers. Hicks has more upside probably, but I don't think it's that far off.
  3. He is replaceable though. The Twins had no one to catch.
  4. Haha good point. I guess the Twins need to get some trees. My point is still somewhat valid...
  5. Like many others, I'm meh on the trade because I really liked Aaron Hicks, but lets remember three things: 1. league average catchers don't grow on trees 2. Aaron Hicks probably doesn't profile well in the corners 3. This doesn't mean Shane Robinson will be your opening day center fielder and that the Twins suddenly lost their immense outfield depth.
  6. The only hole in Rosario's game is his plate discipline. He's average or better in every other aspect. BTW Revere is still a valuable player even with his limitations.
  7. I like the drafting of these high school guys who have high ceilings. Good luck to Kolton.
  8. Great interview, Arndro and Seth. I really enjoyed reading his thoughtful answers, and I'll be paying more attention to his season next year. It should be interesting to see how he does in a full season in Cedar Rapids or Ft. Myers.
  9. Unless the Twins are going to spend $200 million for a legitimate ace like David Price, I think the they have to just hope that Berrios develops into an ace-lite and the rest of the staff is good enough. BTW, I'm guessing the Twins go into next year with a better staff than the defending champs.
  10. I'd be in favor of signing Weiters as the big offseason acquisition. Losing a first rounder isn't ideal, but solving the biggest issue on the team would be well worth it.
  11. Can you think of any reasonable way to justify what just happened?
  12. That was the dumbest end of game sequence I have ever seen. How can anyone do something so stupid? I think that should definitely seal the rest of the coaching staff being gone after this season. WOW...
  13. That's really too bad. Jerry seemed like a really good guy. Hopefully getting away from the stress of the game will have a positive impact on his health going forward.
  14. Brian Navaretto throwing out well over 50% of base stealers is extremely impressive and seems near impossible after watching Kurt Suzuki throw out approximately 0% of base stealers over the last two years. And with that arm, Navaretto must almost have a floor of a backup big league catcher, right?
  15. Well hopefully Sam Gibbons figured something out down the stretch this year because it's hard to be too optimistic about a guy who posted a 6.8 K/9 and doesn't really throw all that hard.
  16. Trading Berrios for a number 2 like Sonny Gray would most likely end up being a terrible move. The Twins don't get any benefit from his first 3 years in the majors, and it's a decent bet that a guy who is much more highly regarded than Gray ever was will outproduce him from this point on anyways. I think the only time that it's right to trade for an ace is a situation like the Cole Hamels Rangers trade this year- controlled for four years and the Phillies didn't mind saving some money, so it doesn't cost you a borderline top-10 prospect in return.
  17. At least their appears to be some talent at RB and WR for next year. Bench Liedner and get Demry Croft some experience.
  18. Kicking a field goal down by 16 in the 4th quarter is always smart.
  19. Even when Mitch Leidner is good... He's still not good. Might be time to try something new.
  20. Tanner English seems to be a guy who would be a solid 4th or 5th outfielder in a few years. I'm interested to see if he can keep up his hitting from the second half of this year next year in Ft. Myers.
  21. Hicks has turned into a very valuable player for the Twins. A guy who is a very good defensive outfielder and who I believe has the capability to hit 20+ HRs with a full season is pretty special.
  22. That Buxton HR was impressive. Even more impressive was his speed getting out of the box. His strides are ridiculous.
  23. The only thing that he's shown he is good at is taking walks. He was profiled as a power hitter coming out of high school, but he's been far from that up to this point. Add that to below average defense and there isn't a lot to be excited about. The only good thing, as you pointed out, is that he still somewhat has age on his side.
  24. I agree. I was hoping for a breakout year too, but he looks to be basically done as a prospect.
  25. Wow, I didn't realize it would be such a wide team margin. They must just not want to waste all of their hits in losses I guess.
