  1. *Called out. Without that effort the call probably would have been safe, for that I praise him. When was the last time you were cleated?
  2. Absolutely. I'm ecstatic to see him pitch like his has thus far. I just don't think that in the 8th inning of a one run game you can hand the ball to Correia going into the heart of the lineup. I'd rather cash out while I'm still winning and trust that my bullpen, who the Royals haven't seen 3x at the plate, can get the job done. Maybe my point would have been better made if the bullpen was better, but there is certainly a discussion to be had. Either way, I'm still happy to see Correia exceed expectations and I still hate losing.
  3. Correia may have pitched well up until the 8th inning, but that doesn't change the fact that he is Kevin Correia. He threw seven shutout innings- great for him. Still, I want my guys with the best stuff out there on the mound in the late innings of a one-run game rather than a guy who is enormously mediocre at best.
  4. Great job by Florimon to block the bag
  5. Yeah but you still have to remember it's Kevin Correia out there... you have a bullpen full of guys with better pitches. I pat KC on the back for giving me 7 shutout innings and let the bullpen do its job
  6. at least we got to see Hicks' dance moves at the plate today
  7. Honestly I've always been an advocate of bringing in the closer in tight situations like we just had. It's not traditional, but if there's an absolutely pivotal moment in the 8th inning, I want my best arm out on that mound
  8. this game is a big test for our bullpen, like what ive seen so far though
  9. great series win today boys!!! big pelf daddy was straight dealin today!! funny story from earlier though. so every once in awhile i like to play some music while i and a lady friend get intimate. i actually have several playlist for that purpose, all of them carefuly crafted to set the mood. nothing to intense though. one of my housemates recently messed with the ipod and threw in some Tupac and LL Cool J for good measure. so yeah when "mama said knock you out" came on earlier, i couldnt stop laughing and eventually quit the entire ordeal, too damn funny man. but yeah thats my story folks also i think mauer bats second is a good idea
  10. Because of games like the one played earlier today. Because it's the players who score, rather than the ball. Because there is no "set time" for a game. And honestly, for the human element. Umpires may make mistakes and nobody's perfect, but baseball is a great testament to what is truly great- be it Morris' 10 shutout innings in '91 or just having a beer with your old man in mid-July.
  11. Also Dave I'd like to hear your take on Spring Breakers, assuming you were being serious when you listed it here
  12. I know some others have mentioned him, but I'm especially high on Jason Heyward coming into the year. I think some pressure comes off him and he really grows into his full potential
  13. Looking forward to a couple movies with DiCaprio this year- The Great Gatsby and also The Wolf of Wall Street. The second one is directed by Scorsese, who I absolutely love. The man is a true genius and a master of his craft
  14. I personally wasn't a part of BYTO but reading that thread and seeing some of the characters... honestly that was pretty damn funny. My favorite part was that the guy claimed to call homeland security and the FBI edit: also the sheer fact that some dude lost it over another guy commenting on a beatles' tribute band experience
  15. I am dying to find out how that video caused a meltdown. I'm actually giggling. Please someone share, this sounds phenomenal
  16. As much as he's hurt the Twins over his career, I honestly have to tip my hat to the man- and not just because of his dominant cutter or impressive stats. What I've always admired most about Mo is his demeanor on the mound. He never celebrates with wild gestures after a victory, and he never pouts or acts openly upset in defeat. He is always humble and respectful. You could teach many, many people a lesson not just in pitching but in life by telling them to observe Mo. With closers celebrating wildly and developing patented victory dances, it's guys like Mo I'll really miss. Sad to see him go- even if it benefits the Twins, it hurts the game.
  17. Swagger itself is not to be discouraged- you just have to understand your game and be able to back it up. Guys like Valencia couldn't quite handle that
  18. Cano and Melky were real close back when Cabrera was on the yanks, wouldn't surprise me if the melkman got cano to try a little bit of his product
  19. Really got a kick out of this, thanks for posting. To add a note, when I hear "DJ Baxendale" I think of a medieval disc jockey who has huge raves at his castle every so often
  20. I hate to see the game sullied by 'roids, but if a group of players -had- to get busted... I'd be hard pressed to name a better group. As if yankee stadium's anemic design wasn't enough help in hitting long balls. As far as Selig, there's no way he would cover this up. He's been calling for harsher penalties for PED users. No one was angrier than he was after Braun got off easy. I really don't see him taking even the most fringe accusation lightly or covering anything up.
  21. Played through high school as RH SP in a semi-rural midwestern town. I was a big kid who threw pretty hard, sometimes had control issues. Had a fastball, curveball, changeup. My favorite thing was to fool guys with the change. I got better as I went along but was never seriously scouted or anything. Tried out and made the club baseball as an undergrad at my university. It's really laid back- beer and pizza in the dugout kind of affair. Blessed to still be playing in some capacity, it's great just to get out there and play semi-competitively
  22. Great to read this kind of stuff-- thanks for posting
