  1. Well, I think even if James can't prove the correlation to everyone's standards as 100% sound, the first part where he says most of the best pitchers aren't groundball pitchers is true.
  2. Have you ever thought about therapy?
  3. Funny, cause once I saw that post I wondered how long it would take for you to complain about it....
  4. I thought the article was funny
  5. Weren't they supposed to name the rotation yesterday?
  6. yeah, let's see. With Mauer catching Hendricks his ERA was 3.86. With Doumit it was 7.94 and with Butera it 6.59.
  7. Yeah, I didn't get that vibe from the part he wrote and you quoted.
  8. I read the post you quoted 5 times and I still don't see how you say that in response to his post. And this is coming from a guy who has been all over the world and had to break down that stereotype.
  9. Or they just draft a toolsy H School OF...
  10. why are we not surprised the Twins opted out of the pension plan to begin with?
  11. I did say that a player said it. Hopefully people know Crasnick isn't a player. :-)
  12. Nice article...not surprised by the accolades. He deserves all of them. The quote below is my favorite: '"I think that's the way he carries himself on the field. He's a really big guy with a big target. When he gets in the box, he has pretty good confidence and he's a tough out. When I want to see a baseball player that has confidence and leadership abilities, he's the total package for me."' And here I keep being told by so many Twins fans he has NO leadership skills. Hmm, if his leadership skills are evident to players not on his normal MLB team, imagine what he shows his Twins teammates.
  13. A 30th round pick got 230K? That seems a bit nuts.
  14. EDIT: I'm not allowed to comment on the validity of birdwatcher's posts anymore...
  15. Exactly...and ERA+ covers this. His ERA+ last year was 88 and that's the best it's been over the last 3 years.
  16. yeah, I was pretty miffed when they took Buxton over Gausman or Zimmer, to be honest...especially Gausman
  17. One less thing to have excitement over as the season starts.
  18. There's a huge monetary difference between the costs of the balls...and then add there's way more minor league teams to boot...
  19. when I played against him in Panama before he got signed by the Yankees. First year I played again his team, he was his team's shortstop just like I was my team's shortstop. The next year they decided to pitch him. I faced him a few times, never got a hit off him, and he was signed by the Yankees.
  20. click on the link I gave, it'll explain it.
  21. Every time I read an interesting baseball story I think I'll need later, I link and save it, especially if it has odd info like this particular one.
  22. http://www.insidethebook.com/ee/index.php/site/comments/minor_league_baseballs_are_built_to_different_specifications_than_major_lea/
  23. Didn't Deduno have an ERA over 6 in 5 starts during September/Oct, with like 15 or 16 walks in just over 20 IP?
