  1. it's okay...Sano, Kepler, both are Smith's :-)
  2. Kevin Gausman is due to start Thursday for Baltimore.
  3. okay...at the catcher position. Twins are 6th out of 30 teams in OPS. Again, what are the expectations? I'm not purposefully trying to be a pain but how can being 6th in OPS out of 30 team be considered near expectations? Do we expect two starting MLB caliber catchers on our roster? Is that a reasonable expectation? Aren't Doumit's numbers more than acceptable considering he's the backup there? and Mauer is above his career numbers...BA, OBP, SLG%...
  4. The point is, we took a run producer and turned him into a table setter.
  5. Part of that is accounted for in the difference in HRs...25 more HRs, 25 more RBI, plus 95 RBI.
  6. Sorry, got interrupted when writing my post, didn't see you had already responded. :-)
  7. Young signed a major league contract upon being drafted. He HAD to be rushed, cause he was on the 40 man right from the start.
  8. Last year, only 5 batters in baseball knocked in more runners from 2B than Mauer, only 6 batters in baseball knocked in more runners from 3B than Mauer.
  9. Here's something to ponder: Last year, the triple crown winning AL MVP drove in 21.4% of runners that were on bases when he came to the plate. The NL MVP drove in 18.4%. Pujols drove in 18.2%. The non-HR hitting Mauer? Well, he drove in 18.1%. Better than Fielder, Cano, Willingham, Wright, Beltre, and the list goes on and on... It's a good thing he isn't a run producer...
  10. Three Twins postgame thoughts from LEN3: Homestand, Hernandez, Gibson | StarTribune.com Gibson pushing forward despite innings limit | twinsbaseball.com: News
  11. Well, he's got a lot of family that are alumni... Then there's hottie Texas coeds swooning over a stud QB prospect at a school that has a starting QB who will likely go pro after next season, so a decent chance he'll play in 2014...getting an education...still being able to play college baseball if he wanted to...
  12. What does the prospect list have to do with what our fans are thinking, exactly? I think you are missing the point. If he was in OUR organization...based on defending arguments we hear/read all the time by OUR FANS about why our position players move at the pace they do in OUR organization (age, stats at levels)... Oh, I give up...it's too exhausting...
  13. I think Mauer is easily exceeding catcher expectations both in the field and at the plate...there really is no argument otherwise unless one is just fishing. 1st in BA 1st in OBP 4th in slg% 3rd in OPS. and he's throwing runners out at a 50% clip. If all of that isn't exceeding catcher expectation, then your expectations are very unreasonable
  14. If we're talking batting practice, no one exceeds Correia in our group...While Worley has given up more hits, Correia has the worst BAA. Out of 100 qualified pitchers, Correia ranks 91st in BAA. Ugh. Correction...there was a page 3...Worley dead last in the majors #107 out of 107...Pelfrey worse than Correia...Correia still bad
  15. It's always entertaining watching Deduno. Looking forward to Friday.
  16. If he's fearless like Pujols, that arm would come in handy at 1B. Pujols set the assist record for 1Bs because of that arm and fearlessness. Turned himself into a top notch 1B overall. On a side note, is it my imagination or do we have a bunch of guys we want to push to 1B, DH or corner OF spots and not nearly enough people to play the more skilled spots...
  17. someone is in a jocular mood...
  18. Again, are you surprised by that? Did you see that huge rant he put on me because I said if he deserves no blame than he deserves no credit?
  19. What would be considered fast? Is it by amount of seasons, age of player, or is fast dependent on how it fits an argument? Arcia spent 5+ seasons in the minors...is that fast cause he's only 22 now, or is it fast cause 5+ seasons is fast? I believe many/most people, when talking about the slower promotion rate, concern themselves more with position players than pitchers, as opposed to college pitchers...
  20. I was asking about people here. I was clear about that.
  21. Who would have recognized the impactful talent of Machado based on his numbers and age. Who would have been saying, forget the numbers, bring him up, skip AA, the 20 year old can handle it?
  22. I wanted Gausman (first choice) or Zimmer (second choice) in last year's draft.
  23. Seth, did you look at his minor league numbers? My question is, for all those who relentlessly defend the slower pace the Twins have with their prospects, how many would have even THOUGHT he was ready, based on age and minor league numbers? Kid had two full seasons in the minors...didn't have an OPS over .790 in either. His BA and OBP in the minors, nothing to write home about, yet he kept getting promoted and skipped AAA...
  24. So, let me get this straight. After projecting false assumptions on what I was saying, assuming other people argument's, which I didn't post here, are mine in your talking down rant to me, you're saying he deserves all the credit for the winning seasons and none of the blame for the poor seasons. In a nutshell. And, of course, the generalizing name calling at the end...always a good touch in any argument.
