  1. Doc - My hand is raised! I'm the blacksheep of the family, but my eyes will be on Pelfrey as much as on the other pitchers shortly. And if he's healthy and has an exceptional spring, I'd expect him to be in the rotation. As Mike says, give the best 5 the spots. If Nolasco doesn't start the season off well in say his first 8 starts, I'd be done with him. I'd also give Meyer a shot at the rotation, and May the pen. I think that's the way to go with those two. I'm getting pumped as I'll be down there in less than a month now, and there'll be guys down getting ready.
  2. I don't understand the Pelfrey dislike, and suggest that Meyer, May etc will have to beat him out in spring training. Seems Pelfrey had one bad inning a lot last season. I look for him to be in the mix for the rotation and won't be surprised if he makes it.
  3. I'm so happy Anderson won't be able to tinker with him.
  4. So that's that. It looks like TR wants us to be competitive this year. I wonder if he's done?
  5. Adding an arm, any arm, may improve the team a bit this season. But other teams are improving also and I still see us in or near the bottom next year. I'd rather roll with the younger guys getting their feet wet, May and Meyer, and watch as they improve thru the year. That along with youth like Arcia, Vargas, Santana. Sano and whoever gets a chance gaining more experience and improving thru the year. Individual improvement collectively improves the team as a whole for the future. With a new manager, coaching staff, and youth movement, there'll be growing pains but I can see this team doing some damage in the 2016 season. So I've resigned myself to not measure this next season in terms of wins and losses, but to experience and improvement, looking ahead for a bright future.
  6. Great story, AJ. Sano's a good kid, and he always cracks me up. I've had a lot of great experiences since I started hitting spring training in '91, but this one's for sure top 5. Miguel's first day there at the ripe age of 16. I'm waiting for Punto to come out of the training room to sign a broken bat of his, and Sano and his agent walk up from the fields. Miguel gives some old guy an interview, all in Spanish, as he couldn't speak English. When done, Miguel gets up from the table I'd left and the other two stay and talk. So it's him and me, and I point at the broken bat in my hand and motion if he should break his, could I have it. He just handed it to me. It's about 5 feet from me now. He always greets me when he sees me and we talk a lot. He's come a long ways. He's really a hard worker and a joy to watch play ball. I'm sure everyone else will enjoy it too. I'm in his corner for life.
  7. Ouch, that really bites. So close...........
  8. Good for Chris. Good guy, good story. I hope he has a lot of success for the BJays.
  9. I think Ryan and his scouts aren't all wrong, by any means.
  10. Berardino never should have asked that question. I'd of called him a prick too. I didn't hear him call him that, but heard the question and the answer.
  11. I think somehow Arcia stays in right. Certainly don't trade him, there's tons of homers to come from the brute.
  12. For me, at least there will be one autograph in spring training to get. And it'll be good to see Torii again. Plus, Torii will get his shot at a ring. TR usually trades these good guys to a contender later on In the season. Maybe Arcia can teach Torii not to swing at that low outside breaking ball for strike 3.
  13. Yes, they were looking outside the organization for sure. Not their first choice, but wasted no time in announcing it. And, we need a Butch!
  14. This thread is giving me a headache. Congrats, Seth, you got things stirred up.
  15. I too have never used twinkies, never will and also ignore any article with that in the name.
  16. The luckiest man in the world would jump at this and continue to count his blessings. The front office wouldn't even give it a second thought, and never make an offer like this. If anything, trade him.
  17. I'm in the camp of wait another year also. Dozier's shown me a few things, he can turn on a fastball, he's good in the clubhouse, and he plays excellent defense. Is that worth multi-millions? It drives me nuts he won't hit the other way. So many fat pitches to drive to right and he's trying to pull the ball. No way he should only be hitting .240. He's got to learn to go the other way to stay in the majors. I could see him raise his average 35 points doing that. If he can do that, he's looking at a pile of gold. But he's got to show me first.
  18. I agree with MLR, no way. We keep these prospects and let 2015 fall where it may. There's better days ahead after this season.
  19. That was pretty good! Seems they had a lot of fun and meshed as a team. Something they'll never forget and can take forward with them. Nice job.
  20. I'm surprised and disappointed. I really wanted some new blood for bench coach. Guess Molly really likes him. But I wouldn't be surprised that another choice or choices turned down the job.
  21. Tony was one of the best in baseball in his time, and I got to watch him a lot! I really hope he makes the Hall this time, he deserves it.
  22. That's nice, good for those guys. And spring is right around the corner, isn't it?
  23. That was cool! Glad they found it and was able to put it together.
  24. I think Steinbach will be bench coach. 1st and PC come from places elsewhere. I'm satisfied will the hires so far.
