  1. He can be good, and he's still young. How much will it take? His last contracr was 5.5. Considering what Baker got, I think that would be the starting point for a 1 year deal. He doesnt have a track record like Bakers, but someone might be able to hone in the potential that still might be their. So your probably right and he gets a deal similar to Bakers.
  2. Why do you need to decide today? I say see what other teams will offer for him in a trade during the winter meetings and if you cant get anything worth a crap you just hold onto him let him play the year out and if he sucks you cant get his contract of the books. If he does the same as last year I think we can afford to let him go. If he does good this year you resign him to a 2-3 year deal.
  3. Maybe.....but with a low salary incentive laden deal.
  4. Here is to hoping that Revere puts up another solid year and proves he can play. As long as he can get his walks up a bit he will be an adequate lead off hitter. He is a good ballplayer and if he can improve is OBP % the boys behind him should be able to get him in!
  5. Maybe they can get his Dad Mark to give the Twins some motivation. He pumps me up when i listen to him on ESPN.
  6. There is nothing wrong with thinking the Twins will win every year. Just look at this team though.....They likely arent goingtogo after pitchers that we(the people at Twinsdaily) Are all saying they should go after. Pohlad fleeced the state of MN, and no its pocketing all that money. He will then sign former 15 minutes of fame pitcher Byung-yung Kim and say hey what do you mean im not spending any money? I would love if the Twins sign 2-3 big name pitchers but its just not the TWINS WAY.
  7. Makes me wonder if they offered Hanson for Span but the Twins said no due to his injury riddled season last year. Bourjous for Hanson would mean the Braves got the bad end of this deal.
  8. My 3 would be: Edwin Jackson $14mil 4-years Ryan Dempster$11mil 3-years Joe Blanton $8mil 2-years A total of $33 mill annually so I went over but not by much. Why do people want Joe Blanton? He is a terrible pitcher and would be no better than Cole Devries. The other two yes i would go after, but Blanton is just a fat guy who will get tired by the 5th inning.
  9. Salvo #2 hot off the wires at MLBTradeRumors: In an interview with 1500 ESPN Twin Cities radio (via Phil Mackey of 1500 ESPN), Twins assistant GM Rob Antony said his team will likely pursue free agents over trades at the Winter Meetings. "We probably don't have a lot of pieces that we do have to trade for starting pitching [with Denard Span now gone]," Antony said. "We'll probably be a little more aggressive and spend our time at the winter meetings talking to agents rather than clubs." This could get interesting............................or it could mean Joe Saunders and that other Myers guy is their definition of "a little more agressive". Yeap Joe Saunders, Marcum, and Myers here we come. And honestly I wouldnt mind that at all. If they turn out to be decent and our team is still horrible we can just flip at the deadline for a few prospects.
  10. Did you really expect the Twins to be a playoff contender and win 90 games? If you did.....you need get some help.
  11. It's because players like Revere tend to have short careers that end brutally. I'm not against Revere as a stopgap; what I'm against is having him through his late 20s and then paying him a bunch of money just as he falls on his face (see Figgins, Chone). The Twins can keep Revere for a year or two but if they're smart, they'll ditch him the moment his value is high and they have someone else to play the position. I like Revere, but I'd agree he has his drawbacks. He slugs below .700, and his OBP needs to improve. I'd choose Span over him for sure, but as mentioned, it's less about him than it is about depth in the outfield behind him. Did you really expect Revere to hit 40 doubles and 10 home runs?
  12. Great article. Very excited about what he can become.
  13. Florimon is a #9 hitter. Your thinking is like Gardy's so your probably right....
  14. I think sabermetrics would say that Dave Cameron is significantly overrated. And this is coming from someone that understands and uses sabermetrics a lot. +1 Also Keith Law knows plenty about sabermetrics.... we aren't exactly talking about Joe Morgan here. I like Cameron and all, but I don't think he is even close to the end all be all on the subject, he puts a ton of personal bias into the majority of his articles, which is fine, but again like Kab says he is a over rated quite a bit. Im surprised KLAW liked the trade from the Twins perspective. Normally he isnt to high on the Twins in general. He definitely is a great scout.
  15. Exactly. We definitely need to restock our farm system with pitching, Which is why I love todays trade.
  16. I honestly think Revere is more valuable than anything we could possibly get in a trade for him. Eventually if he gets pushed out of the starting line up by our prospects coming up then he becomes a solid 4th OF. So I think we should keep him.
  17. I think with todays trade of Span for a High A prospect the Twins are in BUILD FOR THE FUTURE MODE and so i would say with Willingham's stock as high as its going to be (which isnt higher than Span's) That their is probably a greater chance now the Twins will trade him. Same goes with Morneau.
  18. I think everyone is available, but not Joe Mauer and Scott Diamond.
  19. JOE MAUER. But lets wait until the offseason is over to see if the twins acquire or trade anyone else before we even think about the line up.
  20. Like I said alot of people over valued Span, and this was probably the best offer the Twins received. So Span didnt have much trade value. The Span for Shields thing was ridiculous. I like this trade though. We obviously are going to be terrible again. People saying we got rid of more salary maybe we can go out and spend some money....newsflash....Twins just might be in salary dump mode right now.
