  1. New Marlins infielder Casey McGehee, who played with Tanaka for Rakuten last season, tells Juan C. Rodriguez of the Sun Sentinel that Tanaka is worth the hype. "His forkball is the best one I’ve seen. ... He was really special with that pitch," says McGehee. "Whoever gets him…it’s going to be money well spent."
  2. Um what? We are currently about 2 million above the 2009 payroll ...there is about 48 million more avalible if you believe the owner or Terry W. Ryan
  3. Ive said it before the Twins only chance is to sell Tanaka on a short contract to establish himself , see what each team is like, in a non pressure sitituation, like Minnesota, then hope you can get good enough in that time frame that he wants to stay....say a 2+1 deal. Thus making him a 28 year old FA with a proven track record
  4. So we are limited to talkin about Mauer,Perkins and Nolasco? =)
  5. Isint he the same age or younger the Joe Mauer? Didnt the Reds think Frank Robinson was to old at 30 when thry traded him to Baltimore? And finally doesnt Chris Colabello have much better minor leaque stats the Parmelee?
  6. The Twins never were, Once he cost more then 2 bunches of bananas and a donkey , you know they were looking for an exit stratogy. with the payroll being capibale of 127.5 million this year with out using the all star money I agree the Pohlads should just pocket that extra 45 million on top of the normal 10% or 20+ million, after all they got us that shinny new palace right, its not like 2009 payroll was 79 million was it? ...bottom line is the Twins need to post bid and win on Masahiro and then turn around and sign Garza to boot ....
  7. Yes the Twins screwed the pooch on Parm and Colabello last season , instead of finding out what they had in a lost year , they were misused and now we once again wonder what if.... In Parmelee we can look back at his numbers in the minors and see he has never hit for high average conssistantly or has never hit 18 homers in 1 season, and at his age will probally not develope any more power, I see him topping out at .270 and 15 homers per season
  8. Really banned for no reason ? Never hahaha Merry Christmas everyone
  9. So with payroll space of 127.5 million ,not counting the All Star bump, will Terry change his stripes and go get a front of the rotation pitcher? With Masahiro Tanaka being posted this morning we will see if Ryan and the twins are contenders or pretenders ...bottom line Curly go sign this guy and Garza spend the money the team has it ...then next year add some fielders to fill in the gaps
  10. The player can waive that date June? somthing, and accept a trade earlier
  11. So how many million and 1 compensation draft pick to gain almost 1 WAR? dont make sense, we are better off trading or signing A.Diaz in febuary
  12. As for signing any of the players attached to a compensation pick , I see non that are answers, or real upgrades over our prospects for longer then this season , To me Terry is building a team , a young team , wouldnt we be better served to continue the course and sign the Cuban kids Diaz and Bello, wouldnt we be better servered trading for Burch Smith and Stassi ?
  13. Package him and a couple of bubble players along with a prospect or 2 and trade for JJ Hardy
  14. Asking the question can Terry change his stripes, well , lets take a look, after adjusting for baseball inflation the current payroll is well below the 2009 seaons of 79 million, Mr.Ryan signed the safest free agent out there in Ricky Nolasco( a good signing) but then proceeded to sign hope after hope after hope,Next he has the media report every Idea they talk about. At 1 time we were in on 4 pitchers , and then the truth came out , Terry had not even made an offer to any of them except Pelfrey. So no Terry is Terry , the Junk Yard King, who season after season prefers to pocket bonuses ,rather then take a chance on quality free agents. Now some will work out but most wont, The Ryanites will praise him as the greatest ever and most intelegent GM, while most will simply understand that he got lucky on a couple of players. Merry CHRISTmas to every baseball fan,and God bless our troops . Thanks TD for giving us a place to play
  15. Trade for JJ hardy , sign Garza and Scott Baker, and spend that 127.5 million we have avalible in 2014
  16. And yet time after time we hear how it is a bruise or a sore elbow a strain and just needs a couple days ,and it ends up in surgery. If Darren was the 1st fine ,if he was the 2nd ,maybe but this has been time after time after time.....
  17. The Twins will break camp with 2 catcher , but some time by June, Ron will need the security of a 3rd catcher on the 25 man roster,Just like has in the past . As for Joe Mauer being an emergency catcher , Me thinks he will be , but will only catch a few innings( 1-4 ) untill the plan lands from Rochester
  18. Yup dont need a backup centerfielder on the 25 man roster , but you need to carry 3 catchers and Joe Mauer , you know just in case we lose our DH for a couple of at bats
  19. With Baltimore looking to trade there catcher or Shortstop to clear payroll space , how about bringing JJ Hardy back? If he plays for us , maybe he will resign with us ?
  20. While Turner has a positive career War .09 he carries a neg.-1.7 in D-WAR, but this late in the game maybe the best bet for adding to the team
  21. I agree , It make no sense to add Bronson ,When Garza is still out there, If the sticking point is the 4th year, why not just offer up more money, and front load it Give him 51 million over 3 years and pay him 26 million for 2014, then 13/12 the last 2. Unless his arm falls off we have a Prime trading chip in 2015 or 16
  22. Didnt Vance Worley finish the 2012 season on the DL and then need to have bone chips removed during the off season?
  23. As for Alex Meyer breaking camp with the Twins,I would be pissed, we are not going any where with this team as it is, so why give up a year of team controll in a waste year? He can come up in July after a few months in AAA if he does well and get established
