  1. Sent down, no; benched, some times that sends a message. Bringing up a rookie who has not shown any good responses, No. The Twins are in a funk, odds are things will get better. IF the funk is still around after the All Star Game, playng a bunch of rookies, will depend on if the Owners think that will put more fans in the stands.
  2. What/who determines if a player decides to steal a base? Kepler stole 35 bases in his 10 years with the Twins, 10 of those happened in 2022 when he was 10-0 and the rest trickled over the other nine years. Are they told NOT to do it ?
  3. Send him down and bring Gasper up. He might learn a hard lesson that way.
  4. Lewis had ZIP to do with the winning streak. I would not blame Wallner but he is now sinking to a level that sends some back to AAA both bat and glove.
  5. I did not see the game, but yesterday, Baldelli was genuinely upset after the game. Did any one see his reaction after todays game?
  6. I did not view the ball game, who was tackling who in the picture. Mike Schmidt who was the sport caster for KSTP in Minn. has retired; I think he was the best in Minn. I wish I could hear what he would have said about this debacle.
  7. In the past twenty years, 4 Position Players have pitched in and won 4 games. Manfred ball is a far bigger stain on baseballs reputation, as would be computer umpires.
  8. Now, maybe, just maybe, Baldelli is getting real heat from those above him.
  9. Maybe then can have Ryan Jeffers do part time Right Field ,Ryan Doumit did.
  10. I see Wallner is at DH spot but Castro in Right is not really an improvement.
  11. Because last season SO many here babbled - Bring Keirsey Jr. up - well, he is here. AT that, Baldelli looked and sounded very annoyed with the team after the game last night.
  12. Pitch framing is also bogus, but the writer, needed some thing to help trash CERA.
  13. Turn out the lights, the party is over - WERE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  14. Wallner must like not getting too far from the Mendoza Line.
  15. Yep that raised his BA in the last 7 games to .083.
  16. While Bill James was an early proponent of Catcher ERA (CERA) as a way to measure a catcher's impact on a pitching staff , it's generally not widely used or considered a reliable metric in modern sabermetrics. Here's why: Reliability Issues: CERA has been shown to have significant year-to-year variation, making it difficult to assess a catcher's consistent ability using this stat alone. Research suggests that observed differences in CERA can be largely due to chance. Too Many Variables: CERA doesn't adequately control for external factors that influence ERA, such as: The quality of the opposing team's offense The quality of the individual pitchers being caught Home or away game influence Weather conditions Pure luck Focus on Pitch Framing: Modern sabermetrics has shifted towards analyzing specific catcher defensive skills like pitch framing, which is the ability to subtly receive pitches in a way that makes them appear as strikes. Metrics like Called Strikes Above Average (CSAA) and Framing Runs Above Average (FRAA) are now used to quantify this skill.
  17. Minnesota can and has gotten extremely hot and humid to the point it can reach sub-tropical level, far more often than people think. I landscaped in 98 degrees with 90 percent humidity. You adjust to it , IF, it is a long lasting weather spell. I believe 2011 was the summer in the past 15 years where it stayed for the longest time, although that was back in the days before talking weather heads started babbling about if you go outside you die, so stay indoors. When I was younger, Bud Kraehling would just say - It is hot out there , be careful.
  18. He is a well paid baseball player, nothing more, not some one in an industry whose success or failure could have an effect on other persons. Life is a bitch, no matter if he fails , for any reason, he is well off, not a soldier on the street suffering from the misery of war.
  19. Two good young catchers 😅 - define good, not wishful thinking, who are these GOOD catchers; where are they sitting untouched.
