  1. Plus they have now called up Rosario and Busenitz and it wasn't exactly inspiring. And they are probably the best of the options until Reed gets here, perhaps Melotakis.
  2. I'd be more offended if they were actually sitting on talent. Assuming some production at AAA, Reed should be up soon.
  3. Reading those other performances and ages really does hammer home how the Twins really are rolling with young guys at several everyday positions. Hard to call for playing young guys/rebuild and then pile on when they struggle. Still part of the process. With Rosario, Kepler, Buxton, Polanco, Sano, just going to be the ups and downs of young players.
  4. Jake Reed is the one to watch. He's the one reliever the front office likes out of the current healthy crop. A handful of good AAA outings and he likely gets a crack.
  5. Definitely not slower to promote. They might be lighter on talent than other farm systems though.
  6. Even 19th in the majors is not especially close to replacement level. There seems to be a lack of imagination on how much less production there could be out of the position. Don't see it with Granite or Wade.
  7. I would count on Rooker (or a FA) replacing him before Palka and Granite.
  8. Gordon has a lower walk rate than even Rosario. He's also a middle infielder. If a guy can hit with a high average and play a good SS and provide some value with his legs he can stick even with minimal power. Much less likely at a corner OF. If Gordon has a low average, he is close to unplayable. Very fine line.
  9. I'm OK with signing anyone who has ever had success. Give him 2-3 starts in AAA and see what you got.
  10. By what measure is he replacement level? EDIT: (Should say I looked at Fangraphs, by BRef he is barely above 0, so that is an accurate statement by you) And he's the 14th LF in the majors by wRC. So he hits OK.
  11. A handful of bad throws is a bad look, but ultimately not *that* meaningful over the course of a season. He does tend to drift, and not in a good way. But there is some value in letting this ride a little bit.
  12. He's a better hitter than Kepler (at the moment), for example. And to say he's not a good fielder would be to ignore the past two seasons, which would be a mistake. He can definitely be upgraded, but I'm not sure this type of hyperbole is all that valuable. And again, I would say he's going to be better than readily available upgrades.
  13. Might be performance. He's been decent, but not dominant. Perhaps they want to see more.
  14. Contra many on the board, I generally think Molitor does a really good job managing the bullpen he has. He did something last night that worked, that he as crushed for previously when it didn't work. He just has so few options to work with.
  15. I think it's a little bit of both, but much more the former.
  16. Never hit? You have some high standards. He's (barley) above a league average hitter this year and is close to league average for his career. Ideally you get more out of LF, but that's not nothing, and almost certainly more than the alternatives readily available.
  17. Worst scenario would be that they don't think he's going to be a good enough catcher and want to see if he can provide value elsewhere. Probably doesn't have enough bat. Best scenario is they want to have more versatile backup catchers, who can provide the occasional game at another position.
  18. No problem bringing Granite up as a reserve, just not clear what he would bring to the table much different than Rosario. I wouldn't change the roster, but I would probably cut Rosarios playing time a little in favor of Vargas and Grossman.
  19. The lefty/lefty platoon would be unorthodox.
  20. Molitor should be fired for using Belisle in that situation.
  21. FWIW, Doogie keeps saying two weeks then off to Ft. Myers. Makes sense, Cedar Rapids is a waste of his time.
  22. Rosario might ultimately be a 4th OF. My opinion is based more on being realistic about Wade and Granite than it is about making Rosario more than he is. We have seen enough of Rosario to know the flaws in his game, so it is always attractive to dream on players that are a set of numbers in the minors. Granite will only be as good if he carries his batting average forward, and Wade will only be as valuable if he can maintain his great k/bb ratios without hitting for much pop. Color me quite skeptical on both fronts. I'm not sure they will be as good as Rosario in the field or be any better on the bases.
  23. And less power, which will play down the obp skills once they make the majors. But certainly more speed and defense. I guess it depends on what you mean by undervalued. They are certainly players that can carve out roles in the bigs, but they would likely be exposed with any sort of extended playing time. They won't be as good as Rosario.
  24. This is correct. Walking in AA is nice, but that won't carry unless he starts to hit with more power. Could still have a role in the bigs.
  25. Dominate strikes me as a stretch. He's doing fine, but really hits with little pop. Wade and Granite are setting themselves up to be nice 4th OFs, seem to be lined up nicely for when a promotion might happen.
