  1. I wouldn't be surprised if Greene is not their #1, no matter the money. He's not unanimous.
  2. I don't. It would be pointless to try and work Greene this way. He seems locked in at #2. They still might take him (though it's unlikely), but it does seem they are shopping around for the best deal of value for cost. Probably not the worst strategy when there is no clear cut #1.
  3. Are you purposely mischaracterizing this information for a cheap shot?
  4. The first two left well before Target Field. Cuddyer was likely performance related (or perhaps him jumping a sinking ship).
  5. Losing good players hasn't been the problem.
  6. Garrett needs it now, happened in the last week. But indeed Allard is healthy and doing quite well.
  7. Ackley is probably the most surprising prospect (bust) of the last 10 years.
  8. And a legit SS? I would guess #1. I don't think it would be a disaster if the 1-1 pick ends up as the Twins #2. That would say a lot about Gordon and the relative weakness of this draft.
  9. The lesson with all those listings is obviously to take the bat!
  10. I'm not too keen on trading Dozier, but would relent if they added a worthwhile mlb starter for the reasons mentioned above by you and others. One of my hopes for the current front office is that they are more creative than what we saw under the much more methodical Ryan front office. This is the type of move that could work for this year and for the next couple seasons as well.
  11. Fair enough, I should have said "Are people STILL making excuses". I do think a front office is almost always going to give a free agent signing a couple of months before they move on. They've probably hit that point though. As soon as Pressly is back he's gone, and I wouldn't be surprised if Breslow soon follows, now that Boshers looks competent. Once Breslow goes, it will give them a bullpen spot to start rotating some of the prospects through. Wimmers can stay as the long man for now.
  12. Are people actually making excuses for Belisle? It think the vast majority of people want him gone.
  13. Lewis was always mentioned, but does seem he was flying under the radar the whole time. I'm a Wright guy, but I think I can get on board. Get pitching at 35 and 37.
  14. A return for Santana does exist, but not one that is going to put meaningful pitching in the org by next year. If you trade Santana, you are kicking back your window for a couple of seasons, and that is only if the acquired asset (or assets) work out. And for that to be successful even then, you would need most of that above list of scenarios (outside of Santana's continued success) to happen anyways. This isn't either make a trade or a bunch of stuff has to happen scenario. A bunch of stuff is going to have to happen for sustained/significant success either way.
  15. I still don't like subtracting from a first place team for prospects. Perhaps they could pull off a three team trade.
  16. And they were all bad (or not ideal). That's kind of the point.
  17. I struggle to see a team that would trade a current mlb pitcher for a 2b, even one as solid as Dozier. That exists even less than a team that would give 1 or 2 pitchers for Ervin.
  18. Absolutely. But those are performance based things rather than theoretical trade returns that won't actually exist.
  19. I'm very curious how you think a different manager would handle this bullpen much better. And do you really know the process of how they determine which pitchers to use in which situations? I would assume it is mostly the job of the pitching coach, with plenty of input from the front office.
  20. I would absolutely make some bullpen changes. But that doesn't have much to do with what Molitor could do yesterday. Maybe could have pushed Duffey and/or Rogers, but that will burn you hard over the long term. No chance I would start Belisle and relieve with Duffey though.
  21. Could be Curtiss too. Hildenberger or Bursewitz perhaps, but I don't think of them as highly as Reed or Curtiss.
  22. I absolutely agree with this. They have a window right now, no guarantee how long it will last. I wouldn't do anything crazy this year for a rental, but I absolute wouldn't step back by subtracting from a position of weakness either.
  23. Then you really are advocating for a significant step back. That strikes me as an even bigger mistake. This offensive core is ready, and will be even better next year, why would you subtract from that?
  24. I counted 8 guys I'd clearly take ahead of Santiago, and there about 5-10 guys that would be a similar tier. Twins would have a chance at one of that number.
