  1. A handful of bad throws is a bad look, but ultimately not *that* meaningful over the course of a season. He does tend to drift, and not in a good way. But there is some value in letting this ride a little bit.
  2. He's a better hitter than Kepler (at the moment), for example. And to say he's not a good fielder would be to ignore the past two seasons, which would be a mistake. He can definitely be upgraded, but I'm not sure this type of hyperbole is all that valuable. And again, I would say he's going to be better than readily available upgrades.
  3. Might be performance. He's been decent, but not dominant. Perhaps they want to see more.
  4. Contra many on the board, I generally think Molitor does a really good job managing the bullpen he has. He did something last night that worked, that he as crushed for previously when it didn't work. He just has so few options to work with.
  5. Never hit? You have some high standards. He's (barley) above a league average hitter this year and is close to league average for his career. Ideally you get more out of LF, but that's not nothing, and almost certainly more than the alternatives readily available.
  6. No problem bringing Granite up as a reserve, just not clear what he would bring to the table much different than Rosario. I wouldn't change the roster, but I would probably cut Rosarios playing time a little in favor of Vargas and Grossman.
  7. The lefty/lefty platoon would be unorthodox.
  8. FWIW, Doogie keeps saying two weeks then off to Ft. Myers. Makes sense, Cedar Rapids is a waste of his time.
  9. Rosario might ultimately be a 4th OF. My opinion is based more on being realistic about Wade and Granite than it is about making Rosario more than he is. We have seen enough of Rosario to know the flaws in his game, so it is always attractive to dream on players that are a set of numbers in the minors. Granite will only be as good if he carries his batting average forward, and Wade will only be as valuable if he can maintain his great k/bb ratios without hitting for much pop. Color me quite skeptical on both fronts. I'm not sure they will be as good as Rosario in the field or be any better on the bases.
  10. And less power, which will play down the obp skills once they make the majors. But certainly more speed and defense. I guess it depends on what you mean by undervalued. They are certainly players that can carve out roles in the bigs, but they would likely be exposed with any sort of extended playing time. They won't be as good as Rosario.
  11. This is correct. Walking in AA is nice, but that won't carry unless he starts to hit with more power. Could still have a role in the bigs.
  12. Dominate strikes me as a stretch. He's doing fine, but really hits with little pop. Wade and Granite are setting themselves up to be nice 4th OFs, seem to be lined up nicely for when a promotion might happen.
  13. I know this is a response to a previous post, but if he continues to hit like this there is no chance he spends all of next year in the minors. I don't think they go into the start of next season with Dozier, Polanco and Gordon in the organization, unless they want to move Sano off 3b, which I doubt. Depending on how the deadline shakes out, there is even a small chance he might debut late this year.
  14. I know it's too bad this was against Cleveland, but do people really think that much differently about the team now than they did early last week? They'll likely bounce back and take 2 or (probably) 3 from the Sox, and be close to where they were before. The young bats are always going to be a roller coaster, enjoy the ride this year!
  15. You sure? That seems a little light for the Twins.
  16. It means he is a marginal pitcher, maybe a backend guy or more likely a middle reliever. Which will make this trade worth a lot less consternation than it has received.
  17. I think you might underrate their view of Leach. I suspect they really wanted him and don't think he would have made it to the 3rd round.
  18. It is very helpful to differentiate between stupid and lazy. I don't think the vast, vast majority of people are too stupid to understand. But these comments clearly show an intellectual laziness with how the draft works. It is certainly fair to criticize the 1-1 pick, but if the Twins spend their draft pool (and they will) it is so, so lazy to call them cheap. It really is not the responsibility of the Twins to continually explain this to people. Especially if the host, as I suspect, doesn't want to let the truth get in the way of a continual criticism. EDIT: To clarify, not the comments I directly quoted, but the quotes you were quoting originally.
  19. That's the right kind of senior pick.
  20. I'm a hopeless optimist, but I suspect they get close this year.
  21. And I would guess whatever is left is likely to go to 11-1, maybe one or two other guys will get a couple hundred k.
  22. So you don't think they're going to spend the max allotted to the team? Should we figure out a friendly wager on the board?
  23. I'm not nearly that knowledgeable. Would guess hs arm.
