  1. Not surprised, the Dodgers need the AAA depth. I never really bought a De Leon and Stewart package. I think there are plenty of other pieces the Twins could accept instead.
  2. Absolutely. I really am curious what the Twins FO needs to get to move Dozier. I don't think De Leon, Calhoun, Sheffield would do it for me.
  3. I think there is a season or two lag on the awarding of competitive balance picks.
  4. I would even turn it around and say there is a good chance he's a positive clubhouse presence for some of our young position players.
  5. You talk like this trade wouldn't result in more losses the next two years. Also, it's not like De Leon is a sure thing. I like him, good prospect, accept him as the headliner, but if it is just him as the significant prospect, that is a huge risk. Probably a better chance it is a step back for the franchise than a step forward. Up to the leadership to find other ways to add pitching.
  6. My assumption was that is was some of the names you mentioned in the second paragraph and it wasn't enough for the Twins. And with your other point earlier, it seems the impasse is there but the door isn't closed. But does seem it will have to be the Dodgers who call. Just takes one phone call. Maybe it's good for them to look around and explore the other options.
  7. Smelling that 8 seed.
  8. I had low expectations for tonight and they were blown out of the water. I'm not too worried, but they absolutely need to respond.
  9. Cameron gives great credence to changeup guys, which might explain his valuation. Sickels also had him as a A/A- prospect, which would put him in the 5-10 range for pitchers. I like De Leon, would gladly have him as a centerpiece, but there is too much risk for a straight up offer.
  10. I like Cameron, generally enjoy his thinking, but I can't endorse his Dozier for De Leon take here.
  11. Sure, but number and quality of buyers is fluid. It appears that it was a cool market for 2b. That could easily change in the next 18 months.
  12. Or even as a 3b. There seems to he ways to make Dozier work on a team.
  13. Is it a sure thing that Grossman will be a disaster in the field this season? He was bad last year for sure, but previous years he seemed at least passable. Not impossible he can be a functioning LF in a part time role.
  14. I got my squads mixed up, that team was ok, they won the only tournament game in 20 years. I was thinking of the team that topped out at 9 and then didn't make the tourney after Nolan went down.
  15. That 2013 team crashed hard. Don't see that happening without multiple injuries. I liked last night's win. Mason had an off game and the team still has the depth to take care of business against a decent team.
  16. Decrease his walk rate and get off to a strong start. Also ease in his starts and innings for the year. Interested in him finishing strong in September and being ready to go Day 1 in 2018 too. But I'm also open to him breaking camp in the bigs, just shouldn't be Plan A
  17. I agree with the Hughes and May concerns, which is why I would certainly endorse signing another starter.
  18. This gets rehashed again and again, but Berrios, Mejia and (potentially) De Leon have done nothing to be given a spot in the opening day rotation, no matter what the Twins record was last year. It is a good thing they are not Plan A. Injuries happen, May and Hughes can go the bullpen, spring training trades can easily happen. If those young guys come out and earn it they'll get their opportunity.
  19. That's fair, but there is probably a balance between scouting the stat lines and taking every bit of information available and spinning it the most positive way possible and expecting the best possible results. My bias, for example, is if I hear "reworking mechanics" or "reworking the bad habits from another team" is that the pitcher in question is probably not going to make it in any meaningful sense. I keep an open mind and it does work out on occasion, but those are more the exception than the rule. Certainly wouldn't anticipate a good outcome as part of my analysis.
  20. If they trade Dozier I would sign a good glove SS, otherwise leave bats alone. Maybe some minor league depth. Still would sign a closer and perhaps another RP if someone slips through. Sign another starter that is more a flyer type. Hold on to ESan, if he stays healthy his value will be higher at the deadline. Especially if they trade Dozier, there should be enough options to work through over the course of the season.
  21. I think people have read your analysis on a variety of prospects and those with nothing invested in the Braves remain a little skeptical. But maybe it all works out.
  22. I don't accept that. Way too balanced.
  23. I agree it would be a failure on some level, but your solution leaves a little to be desired.
  24. That would be my assumption. Dodgers never offered much beyond De Leon.
