  1. Neither of those would make sense. It's also not what is happening.
  2. I guess I believe it more than ever. They were leaking to local press a couple weeks ago that Berrios was going to be down for a while, he had something specific to work on, and they want his next call up to be his last. They are going to absurd lengths to keep this going. But I suppose it could be service time.
  3. I don't know if anyone said that would be the case. I personally thought Tepesch was called up to be the long man. But Gibson getting bounced changed some plans.
  4. Berrios should be up, but your mockery doesn't make any sense. You really think they care even a little bit about Berrios AAA stats?
  5. This move is nuts, but I suspect it is very short term and then they'll DFA him to make room for someone else, which is why they don't want to call up someone like Wheeler. But come on, Berrios.
  6. The biggest risk.
  7. Because he's good, and I want to keep good players.
  8. My order too, fwiw.
  9. I wouldn't expect a discount on Dozier. Second contracts almost never are.
  10. Might be a promising sign of the increased influence of Goin, et al in day to day lineups
  11. Kind of nice they looked at the specific pitcher and not just the handedness.
  12. I had a bigger picture thought here too. Assuming the Twins don't collapse and actually stick and end up in the 75-80ish win range, I would consider going extension crazy. Sano, Buxton, Dozier, Kepler, Polanco. I would do them all. Build off the momentum of an improved season, new front office, and push this as the next great core.
  13. It is amazing. This is for Donald Bleeping Trump. I have some minimal sympathy for those that voted for him because they hated Hillary or thought Washington needed a shakeup or were so desperate that it was worth a shot, but that rope should have been extremely short. Now our country is alienating allies, buddying up with autocratic strongmen, destroying our moral authority, making our country very unattractive for talented people around the world. And for what? No significant legislation and the Trump family lining their pockets with hundreds of millions to billions of dollars. Just wait until there is an actual external crisis.
  14. I would do it for dimes on the dollar. I would just hesitate if it was significant value.
  15. In my defense, I think the first point is ridiculous, but I shouldn't assume for everyone, especially stated opinions. I would hesitate to trade for Harvey because he might not be good anymore, not because he parties on occasion. But circling back to an alcoholic who fell off the bandwagon is still nasty. Though I'm probably over sensitive on that issue based on my profession.
  16. He hasn't done anything long enough to matter, but much of the early coverage of Buxton was that no one player had a stretch like that and turned it around into a substantial career. Someone has to be the first right? It has been a pretty remarkable stretch considering where he was.
  17. Sano, and not close. His comparables (Harper and Machado) are going to sign monster free agent contracts after 2018. This is the pretty much the last chance to lock him up. I still wouldn't mind more information on Buxton, though in your hypothetical scenario I would certainly be open to an extension.
  18. Last year's Pressly I would.
  19. A franchise usually needs to be good and leadership in place for a while and stable, and even that won't always stop it.
  20. I've heard dirty laundry the last year on Arizona, Colorado, San Diego and LA Dodgers, and I stopped thinking about it after the NL West.
  21. Could get that. I wouldn't be opposed.
  22. I don't think that reflects reality. There's dirty laundry aired on all clubs, especially if they are losing.
  23. Sounds like you could get a C+ prospect.
