  1. These guys are good to have, but none are cracking a top 100 list. The Jay pick killed them, the Stewart pick was a product of a very mediocre draft.
  2. I'm coming around to this. I would hesitate to pay much for a rental though. Either controlled arm, take on salary, or get a reliever or two at the deadline. There might be more volume of arms at the deadline, which would be a good thing for the Twins.
  3. Grain of salt is fine, but there is only one impact guy right now Other than that there is some depth that should contribute as backend starters/relievers/role players, but they really need some lower level guys to take a step. The first pick will be top 20, Gordon will probably end up in the 30s, and I could see Javier sneaking in the back of some lists by season's end, but that's about it.
  4. Maybe even Gibson makes a triumphant return as an acceptable 4/5.
  5. Did follow up with this
  6. This seems a little light on velocity. I'm not feeling McKay as much as others. Should make a rotation and be ok, seems ceiling is not as high as Wright or certainly Greene.
  7. Good to see his command is fixed and that Falvey is no longer mad about his WBC participation.
  8. Thankfully the Berrios concern here didn't age well. Wouldn't be suprised if Wilk is the one DFAed to make room for Jose.
  9. Impossible to know what everyone thinks for sure. I would generally think they focus on their own work, support the players in the clubhouse, and don't get overly excited about prospects.
  10. There's a front office person on the radio each week.
  11. I don't think the players are unaware the pitching is problematic.
  12. He good.
  13. I think fans rate prospects a lot higher than established major league players do. They were on the team last year when Berrios pitched.
  14. Berrios hasn't been down this long because of the WBC.
  15. I wonder if he'll ever be able to bump up the contact rate or if that is going to remain? He's obviously quite good as is and I'll take it, but if he improves that he becomes absolutely absurd.
  16. I was pretty convinced he had it figured out a couple days ago considering the situation.
  17. Getting an emergency long man is the least of the controversy here.
  18. That would be pretty amazing if after all this angst (myself included) it ends up being Berrios starting on Saturday over Tepesch, and then Mejia (or Gibson) when the next start is needed May 20. Seems there is a split in the front office. As there should be. Start Berrios already.
  19. Just an open 40 man spot. That is easily fixed if they want to bring someone else on board.
  20. All this concern and the game tonight is rained out. Won't need a 5th starter again for 10 days. Could be Gibson by then.
  21. Good question. Maybe keep Rochester stable if it doesn't really make a difference.
  22. Apparently. And it makes some sense. Seems that Wheeler and Wimmers are in the pen, so aren't a position to make a spot start. They might want to see more from Turley. The other guys are probably a wash.
  23. This could be. That would be disappointing on multiple levels.
  24. My theory would be this is a very short term fix. 1 or 2 starts and DFAed. They didn't want to do that with someone not on the 40 man that they would then risk losing. But who knows really? (And Seth did note Wheeler is now a reliever in the minors, so not really an option to start).
  25. Only if his bb rate got really poor. Other than that, I don't think stats matter all that much at this point. He's clearly proven he can put up good numbers in AAA. To be clear, I think Berrios should be up, I don't get this move. But I think it is silly to think the front office cares much about his numbers in AAA. If they did, he would already be up. They have something they are looking for, and they obviously think highly enough of him and his future to hold him to a certain standard that he needs to hit to be successful going forward in the bigs.
