  1. If every starter was Santana, we would all trust Molitor's bullpen management
  2. But that 1-2 fastball to strike him out looked meaty. Is he efficient in the minors because he can blow by more of the hitters?
  3. I really hope this is something Hughes can pitch through. He has nothing to fool anybody right now. Lots of loud contact.
  4. I get a very "boom goes the dynamite" vibe from Hudler.
  5. I listened to The Royals announce crew last night. Man, Rex Hudler. Tough to listen to. Cringey.
  6. I think everyone spelled Hughes wrong.
  7. Also drinking. Hoping to catch a non Gibson/Hughes game soon.
  8. Indians outfield alignment might have something to do with Mauer hitting second.
  9. If Mauer is taking the Maueresque at bats, I want him in front of Sano always. I want Sano to see a million pitches. 2-3 is fine, as I felt 4-5 was fine. Mauer hasn't gotten on much, and he hasn't hit the ball with authority at all this year, but he will see five pitches and lay off some close calls. Sano watching that will be helpful.
  10. If Duffey starts being used more in high leverage roles, Gibson becomes the long man with Haley as the medium long man. In that scenario, Tonkin and Brelsow should be concerned.
  11. I haven't encountered too much of that thinking
  12. I was having problems getting it to play through my TV, but after streaming a game through my phone while connected to my wifi it sorted out. No real reason why that worked, but it did. Email MLB.yv, though. If you're unable to get what you pay for, even if it isn't their fault, they might refund you.
  13. Gotcha. My recommendation was to stream through a smartphone/tablet for a game. It was an odd suggestion I found buried in a Reddit thread with seemed to help.
  14. MLB.tv ran rough for me the first couple games. Now it seems to be working fine. Are you using a computer, Roku, Apple TV, ...?
  15. I suppose its possible, but his fastball seems so... hittable.
  16. OK. I didn't see it coming, but I think this is a Kyle Gibson compliment: Kyle Gibson is a better pitcher than Nick Blackburn.
  17. I don't see anything about Gibson's game that would translate to the pen. Even adding velocity doesn't seem like it would do much. His struggles the 2nd and 3rd times through the lineup notwithstanding, he only really has value as a horse. He's not a horse
  18. He is, right now, my least favorite Twin. On a roster that includes Danny Santana.
  19. I root for Gibson because he is a pitcher for my favorite team. He's one of the few that I have pretty much given up on. He's in that category of players that I take any success they have as a bonus: Juan Castro, Ramon Ortiz, Mike Pelfrey, etc.
  20. I decided to listen to Dickbert tonight. They are much more critical of the players than I remember. Is this a thing now? Im in Oregon and I watch through MLB.tv, so naturally I listen to the opposition broadcasters most of the time.
  21. Also easier when you have a swing and miss change with a pretty good breaking ball. Gibson has a sinker which he doesn't trust, a change which he doesn't trust and a breaking ball that has a tendency to get hit pretty hard.* *eye test hot take. I didn't look any of this up.
