  1. Im a fellow TC transplant living in Oregon. The mellow weather is great but that December rain can find a way to bring you down.
  2. OK. Its back now. How strange. Not strange that there is a technical hiccup, but strange that the fallback is just switching the video feed.
  3. Was talking about Milone's career winning record. Then mentioned that Phil Hughes has a career winning record. Then saw that Nolasco has a winning record and said something to the effect of "So forget everything I just said about winning records"
  4. Anyone else catch Dick's Nolasco jab?
  5. Santana and Rosario starting against a lefty.
  6. http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?id=360510109 First game I was able to watch this season.
  7. Park got sent down to figure things out. Sano doesn't look to be playing right much if at all. Jepsen is sent packing. Kepler is playing every day. Things are slowly moving in the right direction. Now if Buxton can get going. If Nolasco can be removed. If Plouffe and/or Nunez can be flipped for some value. If some bullpen reinforcements can contribute. If Berrios can shake off his last ML stint. Still so many ifs.
  8. I really don't think putting Rosario in the lineup would be optimal. Fragile confidence maybe. And Hamels isn't the LHP you want to face when trying to jumpstart your LHH youngster. Hopefully he gets to pinch hit in the sixth after the Twins knock Hamels out.
  9. Sano has a cannon. Has anyone mentioned that?
  10. Also, if anyone is interested, Hawk Harrelson only does road games now. Jason Benetti does home games. Cool story: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/ct-white-sox-new-announcer-20160112-column.html
  11. I always wait until this time of year and I get a promo email for 50% off. So about $50 or so. I've had it almost every year since 2011. Its a beautiful thing when you're out of state.
  12. I bought mlb.tv and was pretty excited to listen to a potential Hawk meltdown. He's not there. Do any of you fine folks know the story on that?
  13. That was a pretty darn good Buxton AB
  14. Look at Duffy's numbers with 2 out! http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=duffety01&year=&t=p#outs that is nuts!
  15. I think there's a disconnect between whether the team can adequately say that a player is ready for a ML position based on their minor league track record, and whether the player is actually ready. We saw that with Plouffe and Dozier at short when they first came up. Neither were ready to be big league shortstops for whatever reason, despite having logged significant time manning the position in the minors. I suppose it could be the mental side of the promotion affecting their play, or maybe its related to ML hitters making more consistent hard contact. Whatever the reason, there is precedent for concern that a player with a long history of manning the position in the minors can come up here and surprise everyone with their inability to play, no matter how many within the organization have seen them play it, or for how long.
  16. "If Jepsen regresses, this bullpen is in even more trouble than we thought." I don't have a problem with pitching around Davis for the walk, it could be that Trumbo was seeing the ball well and Weiters was sitting on that first pitch. You are right, though, if he falters, the bullpen is in trouble. "Suzuki came up against a RHP in the 7th inning down 2-1, and once again in the 9th inning against a RHP. One of the big reasons the Twins went out and traded for Murphy was having a 2nd catcher who could both handle the defense behind the dish, as well as offensively. Why not PH for Suzuki in either case? Santana has been hitting lights out in ST and should have gotten a shot in the 9th, Arcia needs a chance to prove himself and the opp in the 7th would have been a perfect chance." I don't think a team will do that regularly without a third catcher. Some games, you can PH for your catcher, but it isn't going be a regular thing in a close game. I think it makes sense in a vacuum, but MLB managers seem not to do that much. I would do it in video game baseball all the time because it does make sense.
  17. Sorry if this is over-posting. I'm quite bored. April 2015 https://millerparkprospects.wordpress.com/2015/04/20/going-to-the-show-juan-centeno/
  18. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/evaluating-the-prospects-milwaukee-brewers/ This is from Fangraphs last year at this time.
  19. SSS alert: Centeno is having a nice spring. Boredom led me to scrounging for articles on him because I'm pretty much completely unfamiliar. http://www.amazinavenue.com/2013/10/3/4781182/new-york-mets-position-prospects-juan-centeno-scouting-report I came across this (from October 2013) and it got me wanting more info about him. Anybody have any current reports on the guy? Clearly there wasn't a whole lot expected of him, but he's left-handed and at least one author impressed with his defensive ability. If he is gifted defensively and hits at all, it could be a nice minor league signing.
