  1. Any other conclusion is based on hope and a denial of the statistical preponderance of evidence. It isnt impossible for him to be great again but his track record says that is the sucker bet at this point.
  2. Backstory is easy: you wanted him at second base because you didn't think he could hit enough for RF. I wanted nothingnothing to do with that. I still wouldn't. But he has been an offensive marvel. I hope it continues and I'm glad a spot that made sense for him opened up so we could see this. Never once did I have an issue with him playing third just had low expectations. So far my expectations were wrong. Hope it stays that way just like Perkins, Span, and others. That's the true, fair version. Not your warped nonsense. But its cute that less that 10 starts are enough to justify 20 million. Certainly these last ten tell us way more than last year, the start of this year, and all of 2009. Frontline indeed.
  3. Are you unable to constitute a fair argument ever? I didn't want him getting regular ABs at second and still don't. Never had an issue with third. I won't ever go back and question letting Liriano go. He's garbage. By the way ~ five ERA is frontline material eh? One of the ten worst starters in all of baseball by virtually every stat for two of the last three years is "frontline"? My god. With the ability to delude people about crappy performance Frankie missed his calling as an infomercial pitchman.
  4. Apparently ERAs near 5 constitute ace material. Liriano has a strange power to inspire delusion.
  5. You're not being played - you used a statistic wrong, was pointed out to you delicately, and then you tried to use it the wrong way again! Outfield assists only demonstrate success at gunning down. They don't show success against runners advancing.
  6. This is not an opinion. Outfield assists do...not...prove..that! They only demonstrate the success of gunning down guys advancing. If you want to post a stat on successfully taking bases - do so. But again, you're trying to argue Bourn is as fast as Wright by posting caught stealing. That isn't what the stat shows! I've been fairly kind on what is a completely ridiculous argument.
  7. They don't show that because that stat only reflects how often a runner is caught trying to advance. It has NOTHING to do with how often they successfully advance. I have no problem with the idea that Revere's range helps him. I'm not expert enough to judge his outfield routes so I don't touch that. His arm is an issue and it will cost the Twins runs and games. His range and his offense (since it has improved more than I ever thought it could) I believe are more than making up for that as of today.
  8. Batum signing would be a dream for me. The Blazers say they're matching, but maybe a trade is still possible somehow. Let's hope the Pacers don't match Hibbert, that might have an impact on Batum.
  9. I'm going to reiterate my point and then just hit this one. The rest of this post is...baffling....is the best way I can say it. What I responded to was your claim that even when you watch games, and someone takes a base on Revere, you "won't" see it even when it happens. Essentially that you will cover your eyes, plug your ears, and sing "la-la-la" to avoid acknowledging this aspect of his game. That's pretty irrational. Hard to take you seriously. Speaking of hard to take seriously....did you just use the statistic of outfield assists to judge whether or not people were taking extra bases on Revere? You do realize that doesn't work right? Your argument was "Well, Revere's outfield assist total is close to Francouers....therefore people are taking the same number of extra bases between these two fielders." That is a really fundamental misunderstanding of the argument and the stat. Almost comically fundamental. It's like arguing David Wright is as fast as Michael Bourn because they've both been caught stealing the same number of times.
  10. Well, as long as you're being reasonable about it......
  11. I think the only proper answer to this question is "A bad idea." Bye bye on July 31st Frankie, I'll be happy no matter the return.
  12. I'm not picking a fight, just curious - did Jackson take third today on Revere? I heard the radio call and it seemed like Provost intentionally covered it up mid-call, but maybe I was reading into it.
  13. I'm just passing along something I remember hearing when he signed a few months back. A couple hockey guys had said he may need to start at wing while he works on face-offs.
  14. I thought I heard Granlund's face-off skills were weak? Some people were suggesting he'd play wing due to that. Can't seem to find where I read that though.
  15. Granlund may be a center long-term, but I'm expecting the Wild to pair him with Koivu most of this year.
  16. Grantland and a few other places I read were pretty harsh. I guess for me I can't take Harry seriously without Lloyd.
  17. So what does it shape-up like at this point? Along these lines I think: Granlund-Koivu-Parise Heatley-Cullen-Setoguchi Bouchard-Brodziak-Clutterbuck Zucker-Powe-Mitchell Suter-Gilbert Scandella-Spurgeon Stoner-Falk Not bad - when Croyle, Phillips, and Brodin especially get slotted in the near future this team has serious upside. Especially if they can go out and land a true number 2 center with the money coming off the books with Cullen and Bouchard.
  18. Critics lampooned it for the most part...can't say I've given it a shot. There is virtually nothing appealing about it.
  19. That carried on for several days, including his KFAN appearance.
  20. Seriously? Thanks for the input Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
  21. Cdog's sense of humor
  22. You are taking away an implication that isn't there or is at best a clunky phrasing. If it is what is best for Dozier just say that. But there are many here suggesting the teams path to nowhere is the reason to keep him up. I'd argue that is a pretty bizarre notion of player development. And why does this have to be his one go of it? No one else in the organization I coming to push him out. From what I see 213 is open for him too.

  24. This argument is fine, we would agree to disagree, but I find it at least a valid claim. Mind you, suggesting that he go down to AAA is not some revolutionary or absurd notion. It's done hundreds of times around the league every year. The last month has been a disaster for Dozier until this week. Maybe he's put it together, but there is nothing ridiculous about suggesting some non-pressurized time to refine the problems he's having might be a good thing. This however: Is a dumb argument. Who cares? We all agree the Twins aren't going anywhere with this pitching staff, the impact on the team is irrelevant. People keep saying this nonsense (then, seemingly, forgetting this logic with Hendricks) as if it is a valid argument. It's not. Do what's best for Dozier. If you think it's skipping AAA and being in the bigs...ok, that's cool. But "because, what the hell, it won't hurt the team right?" is nonsense. It's what I took issue with from day one.
  25. Whoa....lets not get crazy. Herpes, AIDS, Joe Mays are all fine, but not even Blackburn is worthy of that blow!
