  1. Well said. What's amazing to me is that when Percy was healthy and it was clear Ponder couldn't throw it to him past 5 yards he was still getting the ball and getting yardage....which is uncanny. Add to that the line somehow opening huge holes against 9 man fronts with a one dimensional offense and it's amazing this team isn't getting blanked week in and week out with his current level of play. If Percy was healthy I wouldn't hesitate to say a wildcat offense with him at QB would be better than what we are currently doing. And I think the wildcat is stupid.
  2. Typically Dave just hallucinates playoff contention for all Minnesota teams regardless of their actual abilities. So it was probably just lip service.
  3. I don't think the Twins will send him down to AAA for arb. reasons if he blows them out of the water in ST. I think he's going to get a lot of chances to impress the coaches and if he does, I bet he's with the club at the start of the season.
  4. Um, you forgot to blame Jarius Wright for not coming back 20 yards to catch that punt Ponder threw.
  5. The Royals are in a totally different place than the Twins. In three years this might be an appropriate move for the Twins but it isn't now. Even then, the deals where your hand is forced (ala Soriano a few years ago) are often the worst for an organization to pull off.
  6. Where is that Picard image when you need it?
  7. Yeah, your argument was going really well and you topped it off with Ponder-Rodgers comp. Couldn't have finished off this string of stupidity any better. Well done sir.
  8. Forced migration. Thank goodness for liberal immigration policy here at TD.
  9. Yeah, I'm sure Royals fans thank their deity daily for Dayton Moore.
  10. Pfft....I see you're still in denial.
  11. How many games is this now that we have won despite his awful performances? 3?
  12. That's a TD to Wright if Ponder didn't have a noodle arm. Jesus.
  13. Yup, we're getting priced out of this in a hurry. Dodgers gobble up both of these it only brings more suitors to Marcum and Jackson. I said it before and I'll say it again, we're going to regret balking at the early pricetags.
  14. I'm done hearing about the offensive line being a problem. They ahve to get better at blitz pickup, but they are opening massive holes for Peterson and have been all year. They aren't a problem, if you've blamed them or still do....watch the games closer. This group is playing well enough to be called "good" at this point.
  15. kab, I wonder if those aren't going to be about 10-20% larger than you figured. That's about where I would put them all, probably closer to 20% larger.
  16. I think, sadly, they have a shot with the Bears defensive issues.
  17. Achieving .800+ is hardly the bar for stink or not-stink.
  18. My outlook on 2013 is greatly discouraged every time I hear how vital Jamey Carroll is so he can hit at the top of our lineup. Just sayin.
  19. I very well may be reading too deeply into it, I didn't see the interview so absolutely a grain of salt on this take. But hearing that made me think Ryan was the one with an insecurity about it. Which is troubling if true.
  20. Right, they aren't punting but they also aren't putting their eggs in the 2013 basket. I think the most dangerous thing they could done was overreact to the needs of the next season at the expense of the organization's long-term strength. So far they have focused on getting pitching talent that aligns perfectly with our best minor league players and managed to add a 25 year old with some solid facets to his game. The problem is that their trade chips are pretty much gone unless they actually punt and we are seeing Ryan publically acknowedge that they are having difficulty signing players (for whatever reason). This team, as it is currently constituted after the trades, is not a whole lot better for next year. It all comes down to what they can do with the money they should have available.
  21. If what Ryan said is true (and I'm going from implication here) and they can't "give their money away" - we may not be talking about much in the way of FA signings. The team's awful play may really be dooming their ability to sign FAs. Or I guess that's how I read it. I suppose that could just be cover for the team not wanting to shell out the big bucks when negotiations get competitive.
  22. Take a flyer on Bourjos if he's on the cheap? Otherwise Mastro it is me thinks.
  23. Hence the beauty of the Baker deal. Which we should have made happen IMO.
