  1. Sad he didn't quite make it, but helluva game. They are going to need to do something though, if they have Sherels in there next week in Lambau they are in serious trouble.
  2. Hey....there is the guy we know!
  3. Wait....this post is relevant to the topic........I'm confused.
  4. I don't understand the anti-Cuban hate. Why is he such an awful dude? To me he's just a straight shooter, I've never understood why he's such a cancer.
  5. Dougie Baseball. Please consult old BYTO members for questions.
  6. I think Ponder has a lot to do with it. Percy has had a taste of what a real, good QB can do for him and he knows Ponder ain't it. Hell, part of his injury I believe is because of how they consistently made him do 99% of the work for what he gained. Many WRs have great QBs that help them look great, Percy was doing it all on his own. I feel like I've said it before, but part of my dislike for Ponder is that he's wasting the prime of guys' careers like Allen and AP and that he's driving our second most dynamic weapon out of town. Now you can add on a defense playing well above it's talent level too. I'll keep my Paul Allen thoughts to myself, suffice to say his level of annoyance makes me genuinely wish harm upon him.
  7. And yet, still ridiculous.....which was the point. You can't "give your money away" because you are lowballing people - they'll take the other, bigger pile.
  8. You should make a post about Glen Perkins. Then maybe we can get an update on the status of Rich Robertson or Otis Nixon.
  9. The problem with this argument is that the pitcher they handed the most money to this offseason - by their own admission - took a lowball offer from the Twins.
  10. I thought teams didn't "lose" their picks anymore? I really have to get caught up on that element of the new CBA.
  11. Last year they scaled back Percy in the offense to keep him on the field. He didn't like that so they centralized him and now he's hurt. He appears to make it to most games, but he has a hard time staying on the field. It's a significant concern for a guy with his style of play.
  12. The problem is the Twins prize reliability over talent at almost every level. And because they are so risk averse (if ever you could diagnose a sports franchise with a psychological impairment.....) the only time they will make a splash is when the player's number one asset is reliability. See: Pelfrey and Correia rather than guys with more talent/upside.
  13. If we're talking coaching ability and personnel control, I don't know how Shanahan gets any nods over Carroll. In my opinion, even without the NFC West, you'd have to give it to Carroll in that situation.
  14. You don't think Fox has a shot at it? I see he and Shanahan as very similar, except one team is much better.
  15. Very, very well said. I couldn't agree more with this analysis.
  16. I dropped as a season ticket holder in part because I knew there was no chance this team was going to be significantly better for a few years even with an aggressive offseason. Ryan's lofty rhetoric was pretty misleading, especially since Ryan's track record is well established. I know people wanted to be optimistic about "what would he do with a bigger budget though?" line of thinking but the man has always been stingy about large contracts. Hell, the blame for the Santana situation still rests largely on his shoulders. All the things that make Ryan great (and a good fit for this team's need to rebuild IMO) are the same reasons why we shouldn't have taken his pre-offseason comments seriously.
  17. Probably finishes in the top 3-4 along with Fox, Smith, and Carroll.
  18. That's true but in that situation I may take a guy like Bettis or Mike Alstott.
  19. Career stats can be misleading. I prefer to talk about a back's ability to dominate a game and then let the career stats fall where they may. LT could never dominate a defense like Peterson, Sanders is the only back I've ever seen capable of this with the ball in his hands that compares.
  20. Well, that depends on how true it is that Correia is only making 5.5M. He might have incentives to push that to 30M or so.
  21. Didn't get enough Nick Blackburn? Well then you won't be able to wait for 2013!
  22. Yeah, these are the kinds of gambles I want this team spending money on.
  23. One of my favorite bench players in MVP 05! (Still the greatest baseball game ever in my book....)
  24. There is no way this stays on the forum....but holy crap! That gave me a good chuckle! Gotta love an argument that says Walter Payton doesn't belong in the greatest RBs of all time. Credibility baby. This "best running back ever has to catch passes" bit is only missing a Larry Centers reference to put it into truly elite levels of idiocy. Way to overemphasize one element of the game.
  25. So far your criteria to criticize Adrian Peterson would also have eliminated Jim Brown (Peterson has more receptions so far in his career comparatively), Barry Sanders (Physically incapable of throwing a block), and Walter Payton (fumbles) from the conversation. Personally, I'd re-evaluate my criteria in that light.
