  1. Yeah, love those two picks. Instantly make the defense even better.
  2. Even for Bremer that orgasm for a routine fly ball was embarrassing.
  3. Our prayers have worked....quick....are we praying for Arthur Brown or Ogletree? I vote Ogletree.
  4. Florimon has a real knack for looking unnatural as a fielder. So much skill but so often just doesn't look like a big league SS.
  5. I was thinking about this when they said on tonight's broadcast that the Twins had allowed the fewest stolen bases - why risk being thrown out when you can your way around?
  6. Apparently Mastro gets to decide his own roster spot and not trainers or the front office. Strange that some seem to be arguing its most his fault on a decision that should never be his anyway. He's not Jeter - he's a fringe roster player - he shouldn't be the one making that call.
  7. i think I'm just in a profound state of denial. I can't bring myself to believe we are that cave-mannish about stats. Deep down though......ugh.
  8. Damn what a good piece - clear, well argued, and highly informative. Parker, I'd pay to read your analysis, it is just excellent.
  9. This is totally reading between the lines but it was hard to tell how seriously they take this guy. I just got a weird "token stat guy" vibe at times. Mauer's lineup position and Gardys comments reassure me a bit but can't shake the vibe.
  10. I hope if he's trading it's up to the second and not up in the first. I very much like our chances of grabbing two huge cogs for this team in the first round already.
  11. Here is where I downplay Mastro a bit.....they knew he was hurt, all he was telling them was that he wasn't hurt bad enough that some time off wouldn't help. In this best case scenario you STILL put him on the DL because....well....why wouldn't you if he can't play and it's been dragging on for over a week? So yeah, shame on Mastro for it. Shame even moreso on the Twins for not giving a crap what a fringe roster player had to say about and doing the only reasonable, sane thing you should do because it's right for your ballclub. And we've seen that same pattern of baffling (non) decision making multiple times now.
  12. If this was an isolated incident, I'd probably agree with you completely. The problem is that this issue has happened across a whole range of players, injuries, and seasons. I'm inclined to believe there is a true issue of culture behind the scenes as evidenced by the Baker manhood comments. This team prides itself on being "old-school" and I wonder if there isn't too much pressure on players to not disclose injuries openly. I thought they had replaced the trainers, but maybe the issue isn't the people, it's the methods/philosophies.
  13. I'd take him right now. He was an "adventure" but god damn could that kid cover CF.
  14. Not to mention - I don't need to be a certified mechanic to know the wheel falling off my car was probably not a professional fix.
  15. I get your point Dave, but the issue I have is that this is borderline a culture with this organization. I don't know if players feel a pressure to mask injuries (god knows there have been plenty of public flaps for player's manhood being questioned) or if it's medical incompetence. Either way, it needs to change.
  16. This touched on a lot of good reasons and none drew on a small sample size of a surprising (and somewhat lucky given our SP) start to the season. I think even pie-in-the-sky optimists would have struggled to predict Arcia up this soon. Couple that with ridiculous domination from a few of our best specs and there is reason to be hopeful. All that said it worries me that two potential chips to further that rebuild ( Moreau and Hammer) are somewhat subpar so far. Their turnaround and trade vale could have a huge impact in this plan.
  17. Yeah, Pelfrey's odds of staying in the rotation are getting slimmer by the appearance.
  18. How has Pelfrey exceeded expectations? He's been brutal twice and ok once. I'm still not convinced he's healthy - kudos to the guy for his recovery for sure, but it wouldn't shock me one bit if by the end of April he's on the DL.
  19. What about the possibility of dropping a starter (Hernandez) and Swarzak moving to the rotation? That isn't an endorsement, more a prediction of what the Twins might think.
  20. i would agree about this one - I was speaking more generally. I think the administration was right not to treat him as an enemy combatant. Sorry if I dragged this more into general dialogue but I thought that was how we were heading.
  21. Marcum is starting Saturday last I heard. Someone might need to blog about SSS etiquette.
