  1. I'm pretty sure it had a period of time where it was among our finest word filters. Damn I miss those.
  2. I doubt my good looks will carry it either.... Welp so much for that dream. Guess it's back to baseball offseason news!
  3. I'm going to double down on that limb and predict cold weather in Minnesota for about three more months too. If I keep this up I might be able to get my own show!
  4. I'm not sure how much I buy into that but thanks for the explanation. Certainly Eaton deal is a major advantage.
  5. Are you making the calculation based on Eaton the center fielder or Eaton the right fielder? Because those are not the same and he is slated for CF last I heard.
  6. Sure, they supplemented, but mostly they were aggressive with trades. And they kept being aggressive, even when their farm was supposedly depleted. I think we all agree building with a young, cheap core is a smart idea. But there are plenty of ways to skin a cat and Dombrowski is damn good at his way.
  7. If the Pohlad's were on the hook for the bill they were probably flying this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oSHgbPeJuEM/Ufx8_803zfI/AAAAAAAAIo0/FqoHzTX0-Vk/s1600/hairdressers+plane.jpg Might be awhile yet....
  8. I don't know....there is a kind of laziness that seems almost like it..... Anyway, has Levine's page reloaded yet or did he make that cardinal mistake and open a second browser?
  9. Excellent post, couldn't agree more. I hope these conversations are happening as some team's Plan B.
  10. I think the counter point being made is that it's hard to say your future got mortgaged when you managed to maintain being competitive for most of a decade. Many times the "future" under Dombrowski continued to be good even without young players coming up. You seem to be making the mistake many do in tying one's prospect depth to one's future outlook. Dombrowski proved in Detroit that there is no such tie if you know what you're doing. It isn't necessarily burning your future if you're good at the strategy. It'll fizzle out eventually, but all builds do.
  11. These appointments are indeed troubling. But, and this doesn't help at all really, the people we really have to be scared of are the ones in Congress.
  12. Yeah, but it's like dial-up speed. We're waiting to accept the trade until Levine's screen refreshes on his email. That's the hold up.
  13. I'm right way more often than that. At least twice.
  14. This will certainly be an interesting trade to follow the next few years. My money is on the Sox looking really good out of this deal in about two years.
  15. I too would also rather they just pounce on the offer if indeed it's out there. If it is, leverage is the only reason I'd see them holding out.
  16. If you had asked me before yesterday what Eaton would fetch I would've suggested half of what he actually got. So, that's fueling some of my hesitation against your conclusion. Which could well be right.
  17. Did you see what Eaton got? Maybe that changed their mind? Just speculating.
  18. Working for our overlords now eh? Sellout.
  19. Of course not, it'd be all in good fun. Kind of....
  20. It might also suggest that Dozier is a hot commodity and the team is trying to leverage league-wide interest into getting even more. It's not like the trades the last few days have been light on prospects.
  21. Look at it this way: If he's wrong, we have the rest of our lifetimes to hang it over his head. Over and over and over again. Win-win in my book.
  22. Because dammit! We can't have nice things! We can't have an entire thread being interested, engaged Twins fans without someone wanting to be a *@$%@$ about it. I really do hope the news breaks today. I really want to feel re-engaged with this team and the new leadership. This is easily the best way to do it.
  23. I like how a Twins beat reporter reporting gossip from his source (whom we don't know) qualifies as fact while a poster who also claims an inside source (whom we don't know) must be fake. I visit MLBTraderumors too, but most of that is gossip and "fake" too. That's not why I visit it or am curious about the whispers. I'm waiting to see how things play out, this thread is more about ramping up our excitement that this might actually happen than getting lost in the details. As long as we're speculating that's the fun. I don't think anyone is going out and getting their Deleon jerseys until the bad boy is official. And it if it falls through, what have we lost? A thread where we were all excited about our favorite team? Oh the humanity....
  24. I hear Tommy Milone's T-ball teams kicked some serious butt too. Make that man a DH!
