  1. I totally agree, I haven't watched a Twins game in months thanks to the price they charge for out of market viewing. And I would pay if the prices were even remotely reasonable. But I've stopped going to baseball games and paying for a product that prices itself out of the average fan's market. I'll pay for other sports that I'd rather invest in.
  2. Sadly, baseball decided long ago that the almighty dollar mattered more than exposure of their product.
  3. Yeah, it's funny how.....miracle of miracles!.....when you put a 22 year old in his best position to succeed he suddenly starts, I don't know, succeeding! This issue has been the fundamental issue with player development. Yeah, players are struggling...but the front office's approach to how they use them has been a huge element in that.
  4. Also, young players frequently take time to adjust. So many posters here set such ridiculous expectations for guys it's coloring the analysis of the results. If you're going to trust young players to develop that requires coaching, trust, and determination to put them in positions to succeed above all else. This team has routinely ignored all three of those tenants with these kids. It's happening to Polanco. Happened to Arcia. CF the last half a decade. I could go on.
  5. I think Miguel deserves as much blame for his under-perfomance as some here for over-inflating expectations by calling him the 2016 league MVP. Meaning, a little, but far from the biggest issue. Young players need adjustment time, it's not his "fault" he's experiencing the same thing. The team compounded the season he was most likely to need support by putting him in an awful position. That's the biggest issue.
  6. They've certainly had bad luck. Everyone does. They put their team in a position to fail with a series of choices that have overlooked one core belief that I thought this team held - play good defense. They have ignored that aspect time and again since Ryan returned.
  7. At least we got RF figured out!
  8. There are so many systemic roster issues it'll take a season just to clean that up and let the dust settle. Hopefully we have an entirely new group of people running the show for that.
  9. It's crazy to think we may not see Hughes or Perkins throw until 2018, if they do at all for the Twins ever again. Hope he can at least leg out a few more years and his arm gets healthy enough for his career and the rest of his life.
  10. Altuve is a seriously under-talked about force of nature these days, wow.
  11. Personal preference....I guess it would be better to have hard data. It may also be difficult to narrow down because "streaky" isn't a consistent thing. Dozier has been a borderline bench player for 5 months, does his last three weeks really make up for that even if his OPS says it does? That doesn't feel right, but I'm curious to see what FG says to Mike's question.
  12. Also, let's dispel the notion that 2 months of awful play aren't a problem, even if you go on some kind of binge to make it look better. Every game you played in those two months you became a liability to your team winning games. I get some guys are streaky, but I'd like their hot/cold streaks to be much shorter lived than something you can describe as taking place over "months". And we're not even on "months" any more, we're on "years". I think his waning bat speed is sapping his ability to hit and I don't think it's coming back any time soon. And we basically have him cemented into a full-time gig at 1B for the forseeable future. That's a huge problem.
  13. I don't blame you Seth, I might suggest we bump talk of the Rochester Red Wings to the front page.....
  14. So, we're down to talking about fictional expansion drafts in June? Season must be going well.....
  15. Yup and at least two of those decisions shouldn't even have to be "changes". They should have never happened in the first place. But I do think it's becoming clear that Buxton is going to have to stay in AAA. Until Sept. or next season for all I care. He's not ready.
  16. I truly hope you're wrong about that Parker, but I suspect you're right. That kind of thinking has plagued the organization for awhile. I'm fine with him being a feast or famine hitter and the Twins should be too. Just let him hit 6th or 7th while he does it and let him be who he is.
  17. We should ask Logan Darnell. It might even deserve it's own place among Ryan's advisors when he retire. I'm sure he'd accept a cushy job predicting future Triple A LOOGEYs that are occasionally, mistakenly thought to be valuable or even starters.
  18. I don't care how he accumulates his OPS (other than, hopefully, being less streaky), but I worry he profiles as a guy that will always have difficulty maintaining his production just because of how he has built his attack. For me, he can "Hulk Pull!" all he wants....as long as he does it more consistently.
  19. I'm glad he's adjusted and is back to hitting. But doesn't his limited profile as a hitter (Hulk Pull!!) sort of make adjusting to him easier for pitchers?
  20. I read this article title as asked to me by this gentleman: http://38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m7p62kn73o1qjmv5yo1_500.gif
  21. I'd trade him, but only after I sold the hell out of Plouffe first. Nunez would be fine to keep around. Plouffe and Dozier are the ones that need to go.
  22. I don't have much of any confidence in Dozier, but I wouldn't give him away. But I'd send a basket of muffins with Plouffe if anybody would take him.
  23. So, wait, the totally predictable thing happened....again? Let's add that to the mountain of things many of us said this offseason were mistakes that have come to fruition. This plan NEVER made sense. It was abysmally short-sighted and misguided. It shouldn't have taken two months of god-awful play and an injury to see this as a mistake. And so much for all of you who said his move was about the team's perception of his ability. Are we all ready to concede now? The team moved him in early November meaning they made the following decisions at the START of the offseason: Plouffe was essential to keep (slaps forehead), Park was essential to sign (so far, not so good), and therefore Sano's only available spot is RF. His move never had anything to do with what was best for him or his perceived defensive skill set. He was moved to make way for Plouffe and Park. Seriously, if you're on the fence about Ryan in any way, this should be enough alone to tip you to the side of "Thanks for everything Terry, you're welcome to consult with us, but you're done making decisions here" group.
  24. Yes, if we want to use every young player's worst, and most recent, production to slam them - why in the blue hell did you bring up Rosario? That seems like a really bizarre set of rules you're playing with. His playing time really hasn't been. He was a productive first and second year player and then was basically banished his entire third season. Then he was bypassed for a FA that isn't panning out in his fourth season. He was basically given zero rope to capitalize on his potential the second he started to struggle. And, again, we could've cut any number of players with FAR less upside and didn't.
