  1. I don't know if the Reds would do it, but Dusty refuses to give Mesoraco consistant playing time. Boom...he's the everyday C with Joe backing up and playing DH and 1B. Doumit as your 3rd and backup at 1B, OF & C. One more year of the dumb Canuck and there ya go.
  2. So he's had a couple rough outtings so you take on 2.37 million and give up a decent prospect for Matt freakin Capps? 2.37 is alot for a guy that's a non-elite relief pitcher who's had health issues this season. Work in his buyout for next season and that's damn near 3 million dollars for a half of a season of Matt Capps. Would you pay 3 million for half a season of Matt Capps?
  3. Why in the hell do the Giants want Capps? Casilla, Romo, Affeldt have and Hensley are more then enough? 4.75 and a decent prospect...what world do you live in? This isn't Papelbon or some lights out relief pitcher. He's a medicore relief arm at best who's got a pretty healthy contract NTM the buyout for 2013.
  4. I said I'm in wait and see mode with Dozier but he hasn't proven **** at the major league level yet.
  5. You're not the same RP I used to know...you've changed.
  6. Who's to say they're the most important outs. What if there's a couple on and no outs in the 7th or 8th? The bottom line is they're 3 outs that any respectable arm can get but the Twins have always placed a premium on them. Hell as crazy as it sound keeping Capps and having Perkins and Burton stay in the fireman role in either the 6th, 7th or 8th might be best for this team.
  7. There's ya go, if they get rid of Capps it's cause they he's a chip. Not cause of Burton or anyother RHP in the pen. But I don't think they're gonna, Gardy loves him and you know the preimum this team places on getting 3 stupid outs.
  8. You know how bullpens fluctuate from year to year RP. One year a guys balls and the next he can't find the strikezone it's just how pens work. If the Twins are stupid enough to think Burton is gonna repeat his first half 2012 again then god help this organization.
  9. He got the 4th largest contract in baseball history, how the hell did he not get every penny? The market wasn't set by other GM's cause at the end of the day the Twins either agree this is what we wanna pay Joe (joining the stupid GM's) or you say no. It's that simple, if Joe wasn't a 180 cause that's what Teix or AGoz got good for him, god bless him. But that doesn't mean the Twins have to say yes.
  10. Like it would have been better not signing an expensive bullpen anchor while getting a much needed draft pick last offseason? Does JR really know that?
  11. You do have control over the market when you're signing a player to an exntention. Either you accept what the player wants or you reject it and say these are the terms we're willing to do. I'm not arguing what Mauer signed for, like I said earlier it was a perfect storm for Joe to bleed the Twins for every penny. But just cause other GM's have giving out stupid money for players doesn't justify Mauer's contract.
  12. The Twins will keep Capps around for 2013, I promise you this.
  13. Except Joe market was on the free market to get that price driven up. I understand the other factors minus leadership that can go into a contract extention for a player. But Joe's contract doesn't look any better cause of what other stupid GM's have done.
  14. Arod-No Wells-No Johan-No Teix-No Prince-Were taking about a half-season sample size. Bit early IMO to proclaim no. CC-YES YES YES and YES one more time for good measure. Gonz-No Lee-Yes, he's still pitching well while being saddled highier then normal BABIP Miggy-Yes Crawford-NO Verlander-YES Halladay-Being hurt doesn't help, but if I still lean toward yes cause even though his yearly salary is high, he's been balls for years and is on a 3 year deal. Howard-No
  15. It's pretty simple, we need to look at Joe Mauer's numbers differently cause he's not a full-time catcher anymore. I have no issues him playing DH and 1B, but Joe Mauer shouldnt' be looked at as the gold standard for catchers, if he's not a fulltime catcher anymore.
  16. How do you justify a contract cause of the stupidity of other GM's? NTM there's a couple "yes" in there you're missing, but looking at nothing but OPS or ERA is how you grade things. How's that Blackburn contract working out...still waiting for that 4 ERA and 11-12 wins a year.
  17. 2007- As much as I hate Revere and the overdraft, I'll give it a C-. Getting nothing else not to mention the low ceiling the one player who made it kills alot of it for me. 2008- Gutierrez and Hunt have bombed, I still love Hicks and hold out hope but the team bombed on two first rounds pick in Gut and Hunt. If Hermsen can turn that Blackburn-like K-rate into MLB success I'll be gd shocked. 2009 - Loved the Gibson pick but the bottom line is he's been hurt and hasn't done **** at the major league level. The Twins made a smart move for Diamond but I need a bit more before I proclaim him a MLB starter for years to come. Dozier hasn't done **** to prove he's a major league player so that's in wait in see mode. 2010- Hated the Wimmers pick at the time, hate it now and I'll hate him forever. First he's wild now he's hurt...not looking good. I'm not even gonna comment on any draft newer then 2010. So at the moment we have 1 MLB player in Revere and 1 backend pitcher in Diamond and it's even early IMO to label them that.
  18. Quick second thought....can we compare Mauer's numbers to over catchers around the league now cause it's clear Joe Mauer isn't a fulltime catcher anymore. He's DH and play 1B to keep him in the lineup, but Mauer ain't a full-time catcher anymore.
  19. We can all look back at 2009 being a complete fluke in the playing career of Joe Mauer. Is he worth the 180 million, probably not but the timing of the staduim, Joe finally hitting for power, the Yankees and Sox needing catcher and the Twins popularity at an all time high was the perfect storm for the Twins to get bent over.
  20. Roger you just poured alot of syrup on **** and called it pancakes.
  21. Seems right to me, I'll continue to take Buxton over Sano.
  22. You can look at it as unlucky or you can look at it as a issue within the organization. When a few guys go down maybe it's ****ty luck. But like the Royals when your entire crop of good young pitchers elbows are exploding, that's something that needs to be investigated deeply. For the Twins has been been unlucky what's happened, or more and more as we hear about the morons in the Twins medical staff does it mean there's a deeper issuse at hand.
  23. He says the team doesn't take many strikes, they encourage the minor league guys to swing away at anything in the zone. How did I misread the article? Outside of Mauer and Metro-dome Span the Twins haven't had any any hitters that can patiently work the count and get themselves into a favorable count. I don't think that's by mistake when the GM of the team comes out and says they teach the kids in the minors to "swing away"
  24. Working the count, preaching patience at the plate to young hitters...no just go hack at anything in the strike zone. TWINS BASEBALL
