  1. Ultimately it has to be the people that censor fake news and not FB, Twitter or the Twins Daily admin team. I am concerned with Mark Zuckerberg (or Comcast or the FCC or etc...) deciding what is fake or not. I am quite frustrated by how many people will believe any meme or website without actually fact checking anything though. I don't know what the answer is because MANY people truly believe that Hillary called Michelle Obama a (insert naughty word) in an email to Chelsea. When asked about the source the answer is 'I read wikileaks'. Obviously you didn't because that doesn't exist in wikileaks but they are 100% certain that it does but can't provide a source.
  2. omg MN is the ultimate hell for a sports fan. They aren't even losing to good teams. That is my biggest frustration right now. We don't want more lottery picks. We want wins.
  3. Wiggins has the defensive tools to be good. It remains to be seen whether or not he realizes any of that potential. I think he would benefit greatly though from guarding the smaller wing. If the Wolves could find a biggish wing with solid defense that could play 24-30 minutes/gm and allow Wiggins to guard a smaller wing then I think he would look a lot better defensively. I think the defensive problem comes from Dieng trying to guard small 4's and not being able to match up on the perimeter. Lavine doesn't help either.
  4. Yes, absolutely. Wiggins struggles against bigger wings and a backup that could take some of that defensive workload off of him would be great. And don't even get me started about Dieng at the 4. Rubio is not the problem unless you somehow have a plan to add a near elite PG. The list above is a fantasy since none of those guys are getting moved. I assume Mudiay is a typo since he shoots as bad as Rubio.
  5. That is my view also but the Astros went in the completely opposite direction.
  6. Would you? Take Castro for 3/24 in FA or Trade 2 good but not great prospects for McCann and pay him 2/24 (is this where the money ended up?) I am not against the McCann move but I think Castro will be viewed as the better choice. The Astros clearly think differently.
  7. It is so frustrating but you have to keep expectations realistic. I expect them to go on a 12-6 run at one point when they look capable of beating any team on any given night though. I have noticed the increased minutes/game for starters and was wondering about what the effect is/will be. This was one of Thibs BIG controversies in Chicago.
  8. This is a very logical move. Not exciting but they got somebody to fill a position that has very little depth anywhere in the org. Will Twins pitchers show a miraculous turnaround since the Twins go from one of the worst defensive catchers to one of the better ones?
  9. They died by the 3 tonight. 4/24 including 0/5 and 0/7 from Wiggins and Lavine. Young players will have their off nights but hopefully they can start playing more consistently and go on an exciting run.
  10. Stuart Turner is the surprise for me on this list. the Twins have no catching depth. I have always been a pessimist about Turner though. He kept getting mentioned as promising catching prospect but he has never been able to hit. Still he could have been a 30+ game backup or emergency depth when an inevitable injury happens. lol at the Danny Santana comments. Why couldn't he be remotely competent hitter? His IF/OF up the middle versatility is quite useful on a roster with 4 bench players but he just can't hit.
  11. Plouffe was a streaky hitter (similar to Dozier) that just didn't get a hot streak last year. I think he will be a good pickup for a team with a 3B hole but he just didn't have a place to play on the Twins. With this move the Twins have confidence that Sano is healthy (his elbow) and capable of playing 4-5 times/wk at 3B and a day or two at DH. In addition unless Dozier is traded Escobar/Polanco are a solid backup option at 3B. I hope Plouffe finds a great situation and does well but it was time to see what Sano can or cannot do. I would disagree that Vargas's 4th option year opens the door for Park at DH. Park has options also and it will be a competition that Vargas is currently leading. This FO doesn't have a vested interest in Park's contract and needing to make it look good.
  12. Vargas was suspended for PEDs (I think it was this) for most of a season one year. The funny thing was that he couldn't start his suspension until the short season league started even though he was going to play at Low A and he missed a lot of games because of that.
  13. The online depth chart doesn't mean anything but where they plan on playing Sano next season is the single most important question that needs to be addressed before an offseason plan can be done. I (and almost everyone else) will make plans assuming Sano is at 3B but I have a feeling that isn't as set in stone as we want.
  14. I don't understand. Lavine is definitely a starter. Did you mean Dunn? He should be the best but he is not there yet. Bazz is solid and Aldrich might be alright defensively. At least the bench is better than last year but it is still a very weak part of the team.
  15. Yes, that was an ugly 12 minutes. It has been nice to see Bjelica looking good the last couple of games. I was really on his bandwagon last year. My expectations (very good role player) were tempered a bit but he is contending for the best bench player on the team although that isn't saying much.
  16. I don't agree with every (or many) decision that the Twins have made but the Twins had a rather mediocre farm system (especially at the upper levels) when the MLB team fell apart. Pointing out two teams that rebuilt in different ways is meaningless. And yes I am frustrated by this but it isn't that unexpected that prospects take longer than a year or two to become good/great.
  17. Zach Lowe and David Thorpe discussed the Wolves and their potential in the second part of this podcast. They disagree about Rubio like many do. They cast doubt about Gorgui being paired with Towns even though he is very good. They talk about Wiggins a lot. His speed and his okay defense despite great defensive tools. And how Sam Mitchell set this team back and should never be a head coach again. http://www.espn.com/espnradio/play?id=18057826&s=espn
  18. The bulk of them still only have 1 or 2 years MLB experience. A few have disappointed (Buxton and Berrios). Building through the farm system doesn't yield immediate results.
  19. This isn't a big surprise though. The Twins have graduated Sano, Buxton, Kepler, Berrios and Polanco. That is a lot of talent that left the system recent and that is the core of the team that will decide if this team is a pennant winner. The farm system is needed to supplement that core and there is some promise to fill in gaps with the farm system but not a lot of star power near the majors.
  20. He injured it in August and didn't play much 3B until the final week or two of the season. It might be fine or it might not. I don't know but Sano's position should be decided based on his best option and then figure out where to put other players. If he should be DH then figure out what to do about 3B and Vargas/Park. If he should be 3B then Plouffe shouldn't be a Twin next year.
  21. And then they have no depth across the entire IF for an entire season. If they plan to play Sano at 3B then Plouffe doesn't have a role on the team. If his elbow isn't good enough to play there more than 2 days/week or the incoming FO makes defense a priority then Plouffe is a solid player to keep on a one year deal.
  22. I don't think anyone knows what the Twins know or plan to do with Sano next year. He should play 3B every day but if they think his elbow can't handle it then a case can be made to keep Plouffe. If Sano is expected to play (or can) 3B then there is no reason to keep Plouffe.
  23. I think you missed the great point in that. They have one player that has a good chance to shoot 40+% from 3. They also pretty much return their entire team from last year and they shot 34% last year. I would expect some improvement as the young players establish themselves but going from the 25th in 3pt% to the top 10 is perhaps too much. And that still doesn't solve the problem that they are 25th in 3 pt attempts. this still isn't much of a 3 pt shooting team.
  24. Except that it is due to small sample size Wiggins isn't going to shoot 64% for the season. Towns is good out there but he isn't shooting 44% for the season. Bazz and Dunn aren't shooting 43%. Lavine however has a good chance to shoot much better than 40% on a volume of 3's. 44% on 5.4 att/game after the all-star break last season.
  25. It is semantics but that is exactly what I am arguing. My point is that they should spend it instead of putting out a bad product and staying profitable because they collect revenue sharing.
