Oh he is completely biased but you can tell if the sox are winning or losing because he is either beaming or bitching. With Dick he tries to make it seem like the Twins are the best thing in the world no matter how they are playing.
Dick bragging up Target Field so you know the game is lost. "I would have to guess this is the most popular stadium in the American League by people that don't live here." I would guess not, unless by popular you mean players enjoy coming here to get 2-3 wins a series.
Molly: "Carlos, we will be sending you to Rochester. But the moment Arcia does not sprint out of the box, looks lost in the outfield, or flips his bat you will be back up." Carlos: "So I'm in the opening day lineup, skip?"
The guy has a 1.50 WHIP and 5.5 BB/9 every year regardless if he's in MLB or the minors. I don't know why anyone would expect him to be different this season.
Platooning Hicks and Arcia makes so much sense that it will ever happen. Arcia can start against right handed pitchers and get his 3-4 AB. Hicks can pinch run or be defensive replacement in a late innings lead situation and start against lefties, leaving Arcia available to PH for any number of our light hitters. Basically how we used Gomez/Kubel late in 2009.
It is really in clubs best interest to play everyone through Sunday. With the WC games and playoff series not starting til Thu or Fri guys don't need (or want) three or four days off. That is an eternity. You could start your ace on Sunday and still run him out there for Game 1 on Friday on regular rest.
I don't think Perkins can be trusted in a close game for the remainder of the season. He needs to get 100% healthy because right now he is no different than any of our other pitchers.
