  1. Also, not a single mention of this in the fox website. I'm really not sure what they have to do in order to get blown up. Scandal after scandal, conflict of interest after conflict of interest. I wish their viewers would take a step back and realize this is what they are endorsing and voting for in the polls.
  2. I really hope Hannity gets his. He is a stain on our society. Paid to twist an agenda to people, and is the very epitome of problems we face in this country.
  3. I really hope for a number of things. I'm shocked we carried out an attack. Our foreign policy with Syria was a failure for allowing Assad to keep murdering people, but I'm not sure this is the right decision. I'd much rather have directly eliminated Assad. My hopes: 1. No civilians died. 2. We collaborated with our NATO allies. 3. These strikes were precise and controlled. 4. There is no retaliation. 5. Russia gets kicked out of the United Nations (far fetched).
  4. That doesn't make living with Putin great, just less bad than it has been in the past. These men that grab power in Russia do so because their system is absolutely corrupt. There is nothing fair or democratic. I'm not sure when things will improve, but out certainly won't while Putin is in power. Before Putin, Russia seemed to be turning the corner. With the explosion of social media during his tenure, I wonder how tumultuous things are over there. I have a friend that visits often, and it seems pretty normal from pictures lol.
  5. Obama was damned if he did and damned if he didn't with Syria. His strategy was a failure, perhaps in part because of the half-in stance he took. Russia was always much more invested. Had Obama took a bigger stance he risked an unpopular war/waste of money/foreign policy. If he hadn't gotten involved people would complain he let Syrians die. There was really no winning. Russia played that conflict well. They now have what they want (i'm not really sure why they care so much), with little international resistance. Putin has dramatically changed the world these last 5 years. It is sickening to me republicans are going along with Trump on these blatantly pro Russian (Putin) policy issues. It's a shame Russians have to live under a leader like him.
  6. I always liked the circle me Bert signs. It was fun to see the people from all over. Gave a sense of community with other fans. I'll miss it.
  7. I used to contribute... Before I had a bunch of kids and traveled for work. I have followed the minor leagues less and less as my schedule fills up. I send more time reading political articles, economic articles, technical articles ect. Sports is much less important to me than it used to be. I've been without cable (and the twins) for years now. For me, there is a balance between sports and life. Investing as much time as I used to would take away from my kids, and learning about the world.
  8. I didn't know there was a fan forum there. I never could stomach message boards line that. The espn board was fun while it lasted, but we had a lot of really fun posters. I'm sure a good amount will find their way here. I already can't get a word in on tyee baseball forum, I expect it to get worse. Twins daily for me is about the great articles out together by the contributors, and the sports bar.
  9. To me, this isn't z an us vs them discussion. There are plenty of sane republicans. The party is being led by hypocrites and liars right now. I do believe it is a subset of conservatives as a whole. The Republican enthusiasm is certainly falling. They are even losing ground on the gun control discussion. The democrats could dramatically change the political tide inn the next few years. They'll need to get to work to undo the damage being done right now by the zealots Trump appointed.
  10. Did you expect any different? McCabe should sue the **** out of them. With all the Trump tweets, I think it will be pretty easy to bring a case that his firing was politically motivated.
  11. --\_("/) _/--
  12. The presidency is a **** show. Keeps getting worse. The only saving grace Trump has, is that he walked into a solid economy and he hasn't let it crash and burn. Every department has been a mess since he stepped in. The last secretary of state to not last all 4 years was Reagan's in 1982.
  13. This all day. Run a candidate that the district can relate to, and win it. The guys was a social conservative Democrat and former Marine. Those types of candidates can win districts that voted trump by 20 points. The democrats still need a cohesive message these candidates can fall back on. I maintain Nancy Pelosi as minority leader is a huge mistake.
  14. There are plenty of people that regret voting for him. The Kasich song of the party is starting to gather some momentum I think. The republicans could very well lose the house (despite favorable maps) and the Senate is in play. If Trump loses both this year, the non-crazy Republicans should start pressuring more and primary him. Even with a strong economy, the Republicans don't have much support from independents.
  15. I don't agree that exempting certain countries is good policy. Those are our closest allies, but the world economy is a lot bigger than 4 countries. It is yet another example of how government picks the winners and losers. Republicans scream about socialism, but this is much worse. I haven't read a ton of articles dissecting this move, but on the surface it just isn't smart to me. But, I'm a global economy person.
  16. I really don't care much about north Korea. I don't see them engaging in any real war with anyone. Kim knows it would be suicide. I think the bigger news is the trade tariffs. This could be really bad.
  17. It is worth pointing out, like Arthur said, past presidents didn't give north Korea they time of day to argue their case directly. Usually, there are channels, like secretary of state, that are used first. Trump is bypassing that, and I think he's going to get taken advantage of. Kim is probably elated that Trump is taking the meeting. What is even worse, is that I could see him winning Trump over. Trump loves fascism and power... and words will matter in this meeting. This could be good for the gop (or the world as a whole) and North Korea... but it could also be really bad. I have no doubt Russia is pushing buttons at some level. They've really dive full fledged into making every attempt possible to disrupt society, why stop at North Korea.
  18. I won't disagree... But I'd say Minnesota and some states in New England are doing pretty well right now. Also, Colorado Washington and Oregon.... Even California is doing comparatively better.
  19. Iowa is embarrassing me yet again. A bill passed the state Senate outlawing abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected. That's right.... and doctors aren't allowed to perform an abortion until a heartbeat was scanned for. This is one of the most extreme bills on abortion I've ever seen... and it passed our state Senate. No doubt it would go to the Supreme Court if it passes. That won't help all the women that become immediately impacted by the passage of it though. Iowa was also somehow ranked the best state to live in by us news. That is laughable. We have a budget crises emerging because of tax cuts, our teachers were just stripped of their rights, the education system in general is sub par, and access to healthcare is marginal. Sorry for the Iowa rant, but I can't wait to leave.
  20. Anybody planning to buy spotify? I could see them expanding their content into tv and sports if they wanted. Once they go public they'll have enough power to get into any type of streaming they want.
  21. The Russia drips continue. They are getting closer and closer to Trump. I'm really interested to see how he responds. I don't think he would be dumb enough to repeat the Saturday night massacre, but I'm not holding my breath. At this point I believe it is only a matter of time before the Donald is linked in some way.
  22. I stand by my opinion that we don't know what the result would be had he acted differently, and that it could have been worse. I think it's a fair discussion. I don't think mr Brooks is suggesting more punishment for this guy, just that in other scenarios it has happened. I'm ready to move on as well.
  23. Companies are running from the nra right now. Coming out in the public with their ideals was a terrible move. They alienated libertarian leaning republicans and pro gun democrats. I'd like to say this is the end of the nra, but know better. If they shrink in size and power it will be a good thing for our country.
  24. My stance is that we don't know what would have happened, and that 4 minutes isn't that long to assess a situation and act. I don't believe charging in with guns blazing is a real strategy. I'd argue more people die that way. Also, each person is different in this scenarios. This was the first time someone tried... and successfully... ran. I think treating every shooter like the Columbine situation is misguided. This one was different in every way except that kids died. We are lucky the Columbine kids didn't have assault rifles, or I'd bet there would have been 100 dead. They shot around 200 rounds total between shotguns and handguns. With an ar 15, that could have been over 1000.
  25. A lot, probably including him if he engaged. A 9mm Beretta stands no chance against an ar 15 carried by someone with body armor. I have no doubt that man would be dead right now.... I haven't heard of the shooter used all his ammo, but a confrontation could have provoked him even more. Maybe he decides that day is his day to die instead of making a run for it. 17 people could have turned into 50+. This shooting isn't that deputies fault. Maybe he could have saved some lives by engaging, but maybe he makes it worse. He resigned, which was the right thing to do.
