  1. Most Americans know he is full of **** saying it can be stopped cold. Barrier or no barrier, these people will continue to come into our country. Put the companies benefiting from it in a vice grip and squeeze the money or of them. Help improve the conditions of central American countries to make it more appealing for them to stay. We'd be better off using that money to send the military down after the cartels. Trump, and Washington in general, refuse to address the actual problem, and create a false reality to further their agenda.
  2. How long does Trump allow this shutdown to continue? I don't think democrats cave to 5 billion. Trying to declare a national emergency is bogus, and will certainly go to the courts.
  3. Right. The good Cousins is pretty damn good. The bad Cousins is just meh, not throw beer bottles on the field. If a so-so year from Cousins (which I think this year was) is still a top 10 qb in the NFL, that is pretty valuable. He doesn't change games like Wilson, or throw people open, but the Vikings could do worse... like draft another Ponder, T Jack, Bridgewater. Or even, just let Spielman try to draft another qb.
  4. I only saw the last 2 minutes, so I'm surprised Seattle wasn't able to score more often. Cowboys are going to get crushed next week.
  5. Cousins is at least an above average qb. I'm not sure if he'll love up to his contract, but what was the alternative? A few of the big drops are completely expected. I would think NFL executives use more advanced metrics to evaluate their qbs, and players in general.
  6. Nice article. I need to catch up on 538. Been so busy with the holidays and moving.
  7. Tell me that wasn't on purpose. I dare anyone.
  8. I'm hoping we'll see a bit of a resurgence..... Then I'm allocating 30% of my 401k to bonds. I don't have the swagger to play with real money like you Brock. After the 2020 election I expect the market to go nuts if the economy can hang on that long. Sooner or later there has to be some sort of recession right? Right!?
  9. That feels like a straw man argument. All teams play good and bad teams during the year. You can't throw out a season worth of a sample, and focus on a couple games. For example, this team was extremely good on third downs this season (not as good as 2017, but close). They were torched on 3rd downs against the bears. But, their best cover corner, and one of the better corners in the league, was out. I believe Rhodes changes that stat, and potentially changes that game. Talent alone doesn't win games, like has already been said. In the modern NFL, what matters most IMO is 3rd efficiency and touchdowns. Offensive effectiveness is important while assessing the defense. Vikings did neither well Sunday against the Bears. Defenses obviously adjusted to the Vikings offense mid year and were able to exploit their weaknesses (mainly, an immobile qb and leaky OL). That said, Zimmer/Spielman need to fix the problems. Signing Cousins was great, but everyone screamed for OL help that never came. I wonder if they held back on making major roster changes with the fear of backlash from the core players. They should have free reign to reshuffle the deck now, and still have the strong core players.
  10. I don't think this team is that far away. There were some glaring holes the other talent wasn't able to accommodate for.
  11. Zimmer has almost a.600 win percentage as a head coach. This was with Bridgewater, Bradford, and Keenum as qb for 3 seasons. I'd be surprised if any are ever named a starter going into another season. Zimmer has faults, most glaringly his record in prime time games is unacceptable. There have been clear preparation let downs. The Bills game is a good example. These are exceptions and not the rule though. Even Bill Belichick has games like that, and he has had an all time great qb for almost his entire time at New England. I don't think the talent is consistent on this roster. That is why I put more blame on Spielman than Zimmer.
  12. I'm not sure I'd say it was rolling. They beat up on bad teams, and cashed in on garbage time when losing. Zimmer only became involved when it was blatantly obvious the game plan and play calling was flawed. We all knew there was a problem. It isn't like Zimmer was coming out of nowhere. The OL was eaten alive again tonight. I think it's tough to run an offense when the qb never has time to throw. Again, there was little creativity and attempt to get cousins out of the pocket.
  13. True. I think there are ways to accomplish the idea of a running game without handing the ball off. Playcalling was bland again. No creativity or tempo. Running constantly isn't going to solve that, especially when the line is unable to create running lanes.
  14. Were they outcoached tonight? I don't think so. I think they just played poorly. Maybe the Vikings are overrated? Where was Everson Griffen? Where was Harrison Smith? Where was Richardson, Joseph, the entire offense? I refuse to believe if they were coaches better Cousins would actually have 3 seconds to throw, Cook would actually have lanes to run into, and Anthony Barr would be able to pay better defense. This team is deficient, has been from the start. A few really good players doesn't make up for a 55 man roster that just isn't sound. Steelers just missed the playoffs too, and I really like Tomlin. Can't stand Rothlisberger, but it shows incomplete teams are hard to compensate for.
  15. Where do you go from Zimmer? I'm not a huge Zimmer guy, but new coaches in the NFL continue to prove making a coaching change isn't always the best option. Zimmer hated the offense this year, and fired the coordinator more than halfway through the year. I look at this year for the Vikings, and just think this wasn't the year. Too many issues. Cook not being healthy to begin the year, offensive coordinator sucking, OL sucking, LBs sucking, Rhodes begging hurt often, special teams anemic, no defensive takeaways. There is some good talent on this team, but it takes more than that to win big games, and this team never won big games. Maybe you can put that on Zimmer.
  16. What does firing Zimmer accomplish? Sure, the talent makes them competitive. Remember, this is the NFL, and the fate of teams can change very quickly. It has been obviously from the beginning, this team wasn't a serious threat. I can put some things on Zimmer, but I don't think this team is built to win a championship, and that is on Spielman. Zimmer isn't faultless, but winning games in the NFL is hard. Look at other franchises and the coaches they go through. Zimmer has been pretty successful. I don't find enough fault in Zimmer to give him the axe. Again, the construction on this roster is on Spielman, and despite the talent, it was unable to accommodate the holes. An ongoing trend for Spielman. The Vikings need to decide who they are, and who is going to move them forward.
  17. I guess I'm just done with mediocrity. That has been the onus of Spielman. I like a lot of things Zimmer does. He does leave some things to be desired, but for the most part is solid. Ultimately, I sort of feel like the great talent this team has its unable to cover for the deficiencies. I'm not an expert. I don't get to watch all the film. I did have high expectations for this team and they underachieved by any measure. There needs to be consequences.
  18. A competitive Vikings team for the most part isn't bad. However, Tavaris Jackson, Christian Ponder, terrible offensive line his whole time with the team, mediocre results besides am anomaly with Favre and last year, spending to the cap whey single year. I just don't see how Spielman survives.
  19. Goodnight. A lot of questions for this team going into next year. This off-season is going to be interesting.
  20. You're ok with Spielman? There are too many problems with this team to be comfortable keeping Spielman and/or Zimmer. I'm done with Spielman. Zimmers shtick is getting old, and isn't effective. I'm really disappointed with Cousins. That might or might not be on Zimmer and Spielman. It isn't like he was an unknown. Everyone in MN was excited because Teddy, Bradford, and what's his name were not super bowl QBs. The lousy OL is absolutely on Spielman, and that could have been a big factor in how they offense has played.
  21. After that failure..... I'm sour.
  22. Yep. Spielman should be gone. Good riddance. Zimmer gets another year, but things don't look good. This season has been a huge disappointment. The amount of talent on this team is not showing up on the field. I've been on Zimmers team, but this season it has been blatantly obvious there is a problem.
  23. Kearse is terrible. He's been a liability all year.
  24. Rhodes being out hurts on 3rd down. I think next year Hill might jump Waynes for the 2nd corner. Not that Waynes is bad, Hill just seems to make better plays.
  25. Barr just got killed by Trubisky.
