  1. Baseball Reference says he hasn't pitched since July 4th?
  2. Yea a pitcher has to go down for Milone to go up I presume. Also this is a win for the youth movement seeing Vargas come up!
  3. I'm going to disagree that Milone is in the same lump as Correia and them but 1. They got him for basically free. 2. It's a long shot better then what happened with Presley earlier.
  4. Works alright for Gibson & Hughes.
  5. He has a career 3.84 ERA, or better than Hughes this year. I don't think he qualifies as a #5 starter.
  6. I'm hoping he's more Gibson then Worley!
  7. Welcome to the Twins. Not a bad pickup for Fuld!
  8. The stats don't even really show that shifts are all that effective anyways. I know about them but I would never run the extreme versions. More shading, less shifting (SS closer/farther from 2nd, not in RF)
  9. Yes, I don't really listen to Bowden, the last time he had a bunch of "trades" for players like Hammer and better and he was offering non-prospects for MLB players. No way does Ryan deal Willingham for filler, and I don't blame him.
  10. Wow, I never thought we would see JO this year, but it seems like he's got at least a 1% chance of getting up.
  11. I really wouldn't mind if Dougie was managing the highest level next year...
  12. It's not the primary emphasis of the article, but there is an interesting statistical anomaly about Joe Mauer in this article located at Fangraphs http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-opposite-trends-of-starlin-castro-and-allen-craig/ Or basically when he hits the ball in the air, he hits it to the opposite field at a league leading rate for two years. Since Joe obviously doesn't have opposite field power, he can't hit HR's very often.
  13. Hopefully it's because they bumped him up a level!
  14. Burton has to be gone this offseason.
  15. Hanley would be an interesting pickup, but then again if it were for more the two years, i would be terrible. I wouldn't mind seeing them pickup a SS. Jed Lowrie?
  16. It's true, everyone saw the Fielder, Pujols, & Hamilton contracts as win now moves. The monster contracts always come back to bite the team in the rear, no exceptions. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/accepting-dead-money-in-free-agent-contracts/ This article was about how essentially signing Cano to a reasonable contract on $/WAR would have needed the club to sign him for 35M a year, but for only 5 years. What team is ready to hand out THAT contract?
  17. I don't think it was fourth worst, I think it was fourth most worst contract at being able to be traded (or essentially in "dead" money). Perhaps I'm wrong but I would still prefer Mauer over B.J. Upton and their respective contracts.
  18. Considering that any team isn't even guarenteed 1 by the odds having five shows the top end talent of the Twins for sure!
  19. It says released. http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Report_Twins_release_Scott_Diamond_to_make_room_for_May_in_Rochester071214
  20. Probably would have been better to just try and DFA him, but he hasn't really shown anything either. But I'm pleased they are starting to get the wheels rolling.
  21. The difference you're missing is that I said cumalitive, not counting. If you cumulatively suck, like I would at the MLB level (or town ball ) I would be negative according to WAR. But if I was cumulatively Mike Trout I would be awesome at WAR. Conversely if I went 0-4 with 4 K's in one game, of course I did terrible but it isn't fair to say I cost my team an entire win yet, just some. On the flip side If I go for the cycle, I certainly helped my team win, but I didn't win the game by myself so I don't quite get credit for the whole game. That's what I meant. Fuld is simply doing the latter case, being awesome over a small stretch of games.
  22. If it were AVG or OBP SSS is really important, but WAR is a cumulative stat so the guy must be raking (no influence on projection but it does show he's been dominant)
  23. Meh that start by Berrios smells much more of bad luck then anything. Only one stranded runner?
  24. His BA is fine, but his OBP and SLG are low...I'm betting somebody would rather have him for no prospects then meet Suzuki's price.
