  1. Cutting Chris Colabello............ I dislike the braintrust more and more. It will be a fine day when Gardenhire and Ryan are back on the interstate, going somewhere, anywhere else. The twins need a "feel good" story. badly. When they have one....... they just basically throw it away.
  2. Deduno has performed great on a massively more competitive stage than ST. That is his spring training, and he has been awesome. DeVries' ST is just that.... ST. Personally, I am not convinced a very mediocre minor league career equates to a stud because of a spring training, and am not fooled. I am amazed how many think Hendricks is so promising. What does it take.... 20 starts in a row without a win? It's like Hendricks gets the Big 10 (higher education.... fuzzy math... not ten teams) treatment for the NCAA tourney. He seems assigned continued promise, regardless of how he perform(ed)s against MLB batters.
  3. This ain't soccer, folks. People have learned to use their arms and hands, there are no 0-0 games, and nobody has to flop around and act like they are hurt. Wave the flags and whatever, make your signs, wear your outfits, scream your lungs out....... but the horns are just annoying.

  5. If Deduno didn't win a spot on the starting rotation after what he did to the American team line up tonight......... the decision people aren't paying attention.
  6. Maybe they could trade for a young up and comer at catcher......... Wilson Ramos. Mauer's eye at the plate amazes me. Watching the WBC, and his "called strikeouts".......... that aren't strikes........... it becomes so obvious. The umpires are horrible on the close pitches on the outside of the plate. Mauer lets them go, but gets called out. The replay shows that it barely missed the plate. Mauer is right. The umpires are WRONG. The worst part of baseball, to me, has always been how inaccurate the plate umpires are at calling a consistent strike zone within the rules from umpire to umpire. They should just let Joe Mauer call them if they don't go electronic. So many armchair slugs know baseball better than Joe Mauer. They think. Let the guy catch if he wants to catch. All the money that your opinion is not spending has no real say in the matter.
  7. the nats did pretty damn good with werth hitting lead off last year. now they are tampering with success and hitting span first and werth second. benson now has 3 hits in 20 ABs with 7 Ks and 4 walks. he seems really over matched.
  8. Hey... maybe ALL the comments will finally show up for all the links and consistently! Good Luck!
  9. If Parmelee doesn't start hitting, it won't matter where it is he doesn't play.
  10. Due at the end of August.......... the wedding on December 1....... the math indicates Joe really stepped up to the plate for the honeymoon.
  11. I don't see anyone "hating" on Mauer here, just observing that one out made in an AB is better than two. The only one making it personal and calling someone an "idiot" is a self professed "twerp"........... or......... can only twerps call another twerp a twerp, even though he calls himself a twerp?
  12. Fun read............ one thing.......... you have Eric Byrnes hitting 273 IFFB in 3478 PA's on one chart, and then have him hitting only (only?) 245 IFFB'S for his career in the next chart....... so as they sing on SNL........ "What's up with that?"
  13. I gotta say....... sometimes I would rather see an infield fly ball than a double play grounder.
  14. Looks like mostly a left center spay to me.... the gap. But over the fence - almost all over 400 feet. I wonder what the Hammer's offense looks like when he DH'd instead of played left field.
  15. only time will tell if this was a good trade. for this year???...... unless span doesn't play at all..... i guess meyer will lose round one. paralyzed by hope is a common condition.
  16. Great blog post! "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." Albert Einstein. Observation of behavior is never racism, and what you have said here is well delivered. You bring out great points. You have hit the nail on the head several times, from several angles. Many will "argue" with you, because that is what they are want to do. But what you said needs no defense. Things won't change until Gardenhire and Ryan are gone, I suspect, and the spirited players, regardless of their talent, will be shipped out for the very reasons that will make them valuable to less mediocre minds.
  17. I don't think, if the K's continued, they would be a drag on the strikeout rate. Oh.... you don't really either? Oh, I get it now. What an idiot i am. Certainly Marcum has been a 7K/9inning guy..... which I always found amazing with a mid 80's heater, and not that much difference in the speed of his change-up. The opposing batter's average has been creeping up (not signigficant), but I just think adding him to the rotation with who they have now would be too similar and slower. Having him as a contrast to a flamer, would be much better. They could have thrown Marcum after Pelfrey, then..... if Pelfrey was/is in the rotation. Oh well........... none of the discussion really matters after the Met's have signed him.
  18. Liam could be a star in Japan. Without an out pitch, it will be a hope in the MLB.
  19. Personally, I am very happy that Marcum is not going to be a Twin. Another soft tossing pitcher is not what was needed. At all. For any length of time.
  20. If we can all agree? Settle for might be the better question. This lull didn't have to happen. It was orchestrated by bad management, which is virtually the same as it ever was. (Sure, one can contend that Bill Smith was his own person and some of the management was different, and that he wasn't just a different guy wearing the same suit, but I can't.) How did i/we get here? Watching the days go by..........
  21. Is hitting in the low .200s..... and not looking at the third base coach in the playoffs..... is that playing the game right?
  22. If Saunders chooses the Twins, I will shave my head. He is from northern Virginia, and Baltimore would surely give him a comparable one year deal, probably with an option for two. Jair Jurrjens is gonna excel again for the Orioles (my prediction) and outshine anything the Twins brain trust signed in their dumpster diving.
  23. Players rejected offers from the Nationals for several years....... and they were often better than the ones they took. Of course it is happening to the Twins now.
