Went to the Dodger game tonight... Kershaw on the mound, and a chance to see a couple former Twins, Dozier and Chargois. Dozier now 5/9, 2 dingers, 2 doubles, 4 runs, 5 RBI,13 total bases. OPwhat? No walks. What's that all about? This night....a 3 run homer and a double and 4 RBI. And the 3 run homer was off a pitcher, and not one of the 2 position players the Brewers surrendered with. 21-5. Dozier is enjoying the new clubhouse.

Sure I do. But I don't think the division titles were no big deal, and those that did accuse us of that were mostly referring to the supposed weak division we played in, and especially the pathetic and futile playoff record, and not so much we couldn't win a World Series, as we couldn't win any playoff series (except one ALDS against Oakland 3-2 in 2002), and the playoff record of 3-20 after that opening playoff series in this century. The Dodgers have certainly won more than just division titles, even though they did lose several NLDS and some NLCS. And the response was to a bitter comment that claimed the Dodgers hadn't won anything. I'm a baseball fan, with a favorite team. I love baseball. I don't mind giving credit where credit is due, and not pretending something is comparable that really isn't. I appreciate good play and players, even if they/it isn't on/from my chosen favorite team. Unless it is the Yankees. I tend to slip into pure hatred there.

Kirilloff gets my vote. Does rookie league even count? Only three of the 10 are as high as AA ball, and 2(1/2) in high A. It will be exciting when they are all in AAA (where the hitting is dismal) or AA, and close to where it really matters.

Well, just since 2013, they have won 5 consecutive NL West Division titles (winning 92, 94, 92, 91, and 104 regular season games - and they won 3 more Division titles in the aughts and two NLDS plus a wild card ticket to an NLDS), 3 NLDS, and 1 NLCS, and were pretty damn close to winning the World Series last year, only losing 4 games to 3. You can't get much closer than that. I wouldn't call that not winning anything. And they are gearing up for a playoff run this year, with some great moves at the deadline. Those aren't alternate facts, but history. I would take that run for the Twins in the next five years (6 counting this TBD year) in a heartbeat. Hell, I would even take winning one post season series for a start. Even one. Just one.

May got hit like he has been getting hit in his rehab. Just because he was on the roster when he got hurt, doesn't mean he has earned his spot. There are other options. But I guess we have to see what he has, and may as well be now. Belisle. What a joke to keep him. And this team has no use for Forsythe. None. Just release him already. Sure would be nice it the offense supported Gibson and Berrios.
  6. h2oface
I'm pretty sure Belisle is on the last year of his contract, too. So trade him. Or just cut him. Immediately if not sooner. That's what a team should do.

Logan.200 We needed another Logan that is a black hole at the plate this year. Dodgers needed to keep under the luxury tax limit. Dozier gets to be in the playoffs, probably. My bet is he takes off and really benefits the Dodgers and his own upcoming free agency. This is a win/win/lose trade. Dodgers win. Dozier wins. Twins lose. But hey.... the low level prospects fill rosters in the farm. Farm out. Far out. The maybes and maybe nots.

When do we get the news Rodney is gone?
  9. h2oface
It will be nice when Jose becomes more consistent. We need him to. He looked intimidated today. Is Rodney traded yet?
  10. h2oface
    YES!

This team needs pitching. They will next year. And not Pineda, who is still overweight and mediocre, even if he can perform at all in his first year back from TJ. I hear all this arm-chair general managing. If that advice is followed, all that will ever happen is the team keeps trading for more prospects. And this team will constantly be doing the same thing, and not winning to the level of competing for the championship. The Twins need pitching....... at the MLB level. Not A ballers who never make it.

I was just thinking about Jay as I watched the game today, and wondering how it would have been for the Twins if they would have taken Benintendi with the #6 pick of the 2015 draft, instead of Jay. Boston didn't miss him at #7.
  13. h2oface
Damn. No higher than A ball prospects. Wake me up in 3 years.
  14. h2oface
Now that is funny! Next up, Tom's stand up routine......
  15. h2oface
"Magill gave up a run on two hits over 1 ⅔ innings, but he also struck out three batters." Well, kind of. He pitched in 3 innings. On the stat sheet, he gave up two runs, but one was Taylor Rodgers (and the brain trust, who ordered two intentional walks) walking a third batter all on his own and walking in Betts with the bases now packed, instead of providing relief, so I will also go with he only gave up one run, too. And what? No Rodney?
  16. h2oface
And 3 Ks in 4 ABs in the first game of his return. Ouch. At least he was swinging at strikes.... just missing them.
  17. h2oface
I love it when the expert guessing stops....
  18. h2oface
And wait until you see Pineda. He was around 300 before he had been on break with the surgery. It always amazes me that professional athletes don't take control of their own fitness. That is all they have to do, and are paid handsomely.
  19. h2oface
Coming to the Twins as being touted pitching experts.... the FO tandem has missed horribly. Not just the pitchers on the big league team they added, but the most glaring was Dereck Rodriquiz, letting him go in November FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Since debuting May 29th with the Giants, he is 5-1 with a 2.75 ERA in 59 innings. What a whiff. I have no faith in their supposed expertise of pitcher identification. We sure could have used some of that. But hey, if he had not been just granted free agency, he would probably never had the opportunity. And then they added Belisle. That says it all. Pressly should enjoy pitching for a team like Houston.

And Rodney once again is the MLB blown saves leader. Now there is a trade I would love to see. He just thinks he can throw it right down the pipe, flat with no movement, and blow it by hitters. That pitch was such meat. Kepler almost had it. I thought he was going to get it. Molitor must live in a dream world, dreaming that this was last year and Belisle could actually be counted on. I mean really, two 89 mph 4 seamers in the exact same place, belt high and right down the middle of the zone. And all night, on all sports networks, tv and radio both, I have been suffering through the clip. Just release the guy, already. For these two tourists to destroy Rosario getting to Kimbrel is just criminal.

I guess I will just have to pretend that Esocobar had a season ending injury, and is now out for the year, and then a free agent. Good luck to the new prospects, who enter a system that has reorganized to the tune of none of their top 3 levels can muster a winning record and establish a culture of winning.
  22. h2oface
We can talk about it when it happens, when they actually put up the numbers that Escobar is doing, in the show, like in 5 years. Maybe I will be alive in 5 years.
  23. h2oface
Well, did they sell high? Or is it I don't know what people were expecting for a utility INF for 2 months of rent......
  24. h2oface
Exactly. Then why do it? Especially since it ain't over.
  25. h2oface
Oh joy. More prospects. And not even a top 10 in their system. Quite the deal makers, this new front office. Throwing in the towel.
