  1. If you consider Robles good, you have a much more optimistic outlook and what you expect from relief, and what will take this team to the playoffs..... and win when they get there. But maybe he will be a plus. He has Rogers 5 inherited runners scored to thank for his statline right now. Outbid for Kluber? Exactly. Best to go on the cheap is/was the plan. Good thing the Twins didn't sign some one so old. (How old is Happ? - and Shoemaker will be 35 in September..... still way younger.) It is easy to pine for Kluber right now after his last outing.
  2. Shoemaker, Robles, and Colome signings all horrible, in my opinion, when they all happened, and even moreso now. Happ is the outlier so far. Didn't like that one either. Relying on Dobnak also a sad choice. Here we are. Thanks FO. Wasn't Kluber available? You can never have enough pitching. All teams struggle with the quality. Too bad our choices have been on the cheap. I guess you get what you pay for.
  3. For parts of 3 years now - end of 2019, all of 2020, and start of this year - i have been reading from stat hounds that Rogers pitching is better than results. I long for when his results are great and his pitching is not so good..... Right now his ERA and WHIP is not the complete story. The 5 inherited runners/5 inherited runners scored are part of that. It is one thing to come in with a 3 run lead and give up two and get the save. But coming in with runners on and shutting them down is what relief pitching is all about. I would still rather have 3 Rogers and less of what else we throw out there late.
  4. Thanks! Great article about Maeda's pitching.
  5. I'm sure glad that some are excited about the farm. I used to be, and there was a bunch to get excited about, but plenty of disappointment prevailed, and now I have a hard time seeing the promise. I must be getting old.
  6. Official score is a Simmons error, and it was, but it is Kirilloff's fault, eh? I'm not saying that official scoring is great (outfielders can literally drop a fly ball that they get to in stride, it even hits the base of the glove and not the tip, and it is scored a hit instead of an error just because they have to run a long way, as we see pretty often now - and twice today). Kirilloff saved Simmons from a second throwing error in this game. when he couldn't decide to run to second or throw it to first. Both of the Simmons' throws in question he made on the run.... both were his responsibility. "Donaldson and Simmons brought their gloves." I would hope Simmons shows us arm that matches his glove. He has 3 errors already this season. Could have had four. I would much rather see Kirilloff at first than Sano. I guess those that think Kirilloff sucks defensively didn't see him pick that throw that put the finishing touch on Donaldson's play and made it a highlight instead of a Donaldson throwing error. Sure was a relief to squeak this one out.
  7. I would like to give credit, but Duffey came in the game with a runner on first and 1 out, and gave up a double on a meaty 75 mph knuckle curve on the third pitch. He gifted Waddell a run. And Rogers? Getting the easiest closing opportunity ... a 3 run lead to start the 9th...... These guys made it a close game. It wasn't a close game until Duffey and Rogers made it a close game. I will give them credit when the come in the game and shut it down, not when they turn the faucet up.
  8. Well, I don't think Johnson went anywhere. He is there everyday. If it was just a refresher course, it seems that it would happen once a day everyday.
  9. 5 inherited runners this year so far ..... 5 inherited runners scored. Gifts to his teammates. Those count in the win loss column, but not in his stat line.
  10. Yup... his gifts to his teammates.... letting all the inherited runners in doesn't tell a complete story.
  11. They tried to chump it. Truly amazing. But a win is a win.
  12. Pathetic fielding. These guys are MLB ball players! CATCH THE BALL! If you can get your glove on it YOU SHOULD CATCH IT!
  13. 20 lbs of muscle is a lot different than fat. Just ask Buston about his 20. Double chin and floaters to go along with Duffey's velo drop... fat just gets in the way.
  14. Looks like a good 20 to me.... even has a double chin now.
  15. I hate giving them that freebie run. Always do. Could have been 5-2.
  16. Baldelli now in the game, so to speak. This could be trouble. Duffey for one batter? to the end of the inning..... or three batters.....
  17. Save opportunity now in the 9th... or now. Colome time!
  18. Well, Justin was talking about him being above average at first already earlier.... but then, what does he know about playing first.....
  19. Not Goldie.... I think it was Judy Carne or Karne.....
  20. He is showing to be a better 1st baseman than Sano..... and hitter..... but yes, probably. Maybe this is Sano's wake up call .... that he will hear.
  21. Our whole pitching staff today has been control pitchers with no control.
  22. They both love Honey. I know it for a fact.
