  1. I amazed Correa isn't out for the year yet. He hit well the first week after the head bump. Maybe............
  2. Amazing futility by the 36 million dollar man. Doesn't help that the umpire missed the call again, but swinging at a pitch that bounces 2 feet in front of the plate was epic. And watches pitches too close to trust to a human making the correct call. All after Buxton had to take that hit. Watching Castro strike out when he had a walk if he just swung at strikes. Tough inning....... again.
  3. Lewis coming up lame again, just running to first base in the ninth, is heartbreaking and disgusting at the same time. He looked like he wasn't close to ready when they activated him, took forever to start hitting, and once he did, injures himself running to first base. Not into anything, not violently swinging, not being run into..... just running to first base. How did you answer the poll?
  4. Another missed call. Free K for Coulombe.
  5. Pena (4-5) showing up Correa (0-4) again in Houston. I guess Jax and Coulombe needed work? Whats the point, otherwise? Now they would have to go back to back if there is a close game tomorrow.
  6. 7 (13-20) and 6 (26-20), but whose counting.
  7. FTFY. Weak ground out form the 36 million dollar man with the bases loaded didn't help, either,
  8. Castro is a liability in the field no matter where he plays. He has the gloves, though.
  9. Correa still owes us at least one run today.
  10. Does Hawkins ever say anything that is not already obvious?
  11. Thanks for the extra run against, Carlos.
  12. Rare? 6th error of the year. And that only includes the ones the scorers didn't gift the batter with a hit instead.
  13. At least Lewis didn't quit running hard before he got to first like Jeffers did.
  14. Still a better season than Lewis, and more clutch this year, too. Do we hope to keep playing Lewis? Probably. I think they both could be improved, but then, only Lewis doesn't do slumps.
  15. Sonny Gray was the guy to re-sign. If it was to be Lopez or Sonny Gray, I always wanted Gray. Good baseball to be seen with Gray against debut of Misiorowski (78 pitches). Too bad Baldelli pissed him off so much. As I post, Misiorowski with a no-hitter through 5. Edit: Well, that didn't age well. Gray, after only giving up 3 earned in his last 3 starts, just got tagged for 5 runs in the 5th. 6-0. Ha. A Bailey day. Edit: .... and Misiorowski throws 3 pitches in the 6th and steps backward up the mound after the third, and drastically twists his right ankle! Leaves game. Always something.......
  16. Wentz another in the long line of dumpster diving. Even the Pirates didn't want him around. 38 pitches for 8 batters and 3 outs. Only 19 strikes. One can always hope. There goes the all important run differential. Again. Now the writers can write about Ober...... but if it wasn't for that one game........ but now it is about 3 for the season. They all count.
  17. Automated Ball-Strike System (ABS) that uses a network of cameras around the field to track the ball's trajectory and records and reports the result instantaneously is not a robot. The human umpire receives the information instantaneously and makes the call reported. My cruise control, that recieves information constantly and I allow to control the speed of my car consistently is not a robot. My thermostat that regulates temperature is not a robot. It is a tool. ABS is a tool. No emotion. No pride. No arrogance, No prejudice. No compassion. No feeling of any pressure. The perfect pitch or perfect take - the hardest pitches for a human to get right consistently - should be rewarded, not punished. Ever. For a critical pitch, or for an 0-0 count. These closest pitches are the pitch calls that the batter and pitcher and game deserve the most. Any and all tools that help that happen more consistently so the players decide the at bat and not a supposed impartial third party should be welcomed, not feared. Great article.
