    What is his value sitting at home in a dark room after his brain gets scrambled again? That is the real question, do you put him back in a position where he has a much higher chance of getting his bell rung or do you protect a 115 mill investment as best as possible? His chance of getting hurt again is much much higher if he is catching. His value is higher catching but his value is zero sitting at home or next to zero if he becomes a shell of himself. On a non-contending team why take the risk?

    Contending in the Central is a long way from being a World Series contender. Are we hoping to hang around and play meaningful games into early Sept? Or are we hoping to play meaningful games well into Oct? Contending for the Central isn't that hard as seen in the last 10 yrs. But we never really had the teams to contend for a WS title. That takes another level of pitching that Ryan has never shown he can put together.

    "How did you folks feel about the Morneau trade?" Unless the guys they got are something other than fill I think he should have finished out the season, he deserved that much, imo. Now if he was ok with going for a chance to win instead of it being what looks like a salary dump it's ok I guess.

Welker, 27, threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in a brief stint with the Pirates earlier this season, his first with a major league club. In the minors, the 6-foot-7 right hander has a 3.25 ERA in 61 innings for the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate this year.

    Even with the world's greatest manager and baseballs best coaches he isn't getting any better, actually getting worse. Without a 2 1/2 week 10 hr blitz last year how bad would his overall numbers really be? If he wasn't a gold glove type fielder..... He's making Tony Batista look good.
