  1. 4) Sean Nolin, LHP, Grade B: I don't know why this guy doesn't get more attention. He's big (6-5, 235), has a solid fastball, good curve, change coming along, throws strikes, great performance record. Just needs to stay healthy. from John Sickels. does anyone feel that Morneau or Parm would be worth or be enough to acquire Romero and Nolin? I know I'm reaching here.
  2. So we will be like last season but worse?
  3. When in the lineup, even with benson and mastro in the lineup also, hicks has been the lead off batter. This leads me to believe that hicks (has) already become the starting centerfielder baring injury. Thoughts?
  4. I have said it for over a year now. He is the lop prospect on my list. I believe that he can put up mauer MVP season numbers after a few years in the majors. Maybe a slightly lower average though
  5. Here's to hoping he has a boy and girl so he can name them Minnie and Paul! honestly though I wish them good health through the pregnancy and hope they get two beautiful healthy children. This is definitely Twins news.
  6. The case can be made that the stars won't carry over to the regular season but that doesn't mean that they aren't important for filling out a roster to some extent. If butera goes 0-30 and throws out 10% of attempted base stealers, and Herrmann (sorry for spelling error) goes 10-30 and throws out 40%, would you not be a little confused if butera makes the 25 man as a 3rd catcher? This is a recap of my spring training. I personally have a beautiful swing (I do however miss the ball a lot but I look good doing it). I can also run down pretty much any ball hit in my general area (but I tend to make a throwing error or 2 regularly). I am also a great club house guy. You wouldn't believe the jokes I come up with off the top of my head. Gardy absolutely loves the way I get after it. At the same time hicks has better stats than I have but he's kinda awkward around the rest of the guys. And humans Gardy don't have much in common. Should I beat hicks out for the center field job? Are you ok with me batting lead off?
  7. I'm believe I heard that berrios will pitch a little in ST games to prepare for the WBC. Is this correct or did I mishear/read? If he his it will be interesting to see how he does. Even if he is pitching against AAA talent at the end of ST games.
  8. I personally felt that Gardy Vavra and Anderson should have left after last season. I like them as people and I would hope that another team would give Gardy a chance to manage in the future. I just personally felt that when you are washing the slate clean in the system and wating on talent that it would have been a good time to change the environment and the coaching direction. It didn't happen. I will live with it and hope for a big turnaround so we won't have to have this debate next offseason. But it should be said that there is no reason to let people go a few days before spring training games.
  9. My #1 twins prospect!
  10. For me personally I thought he passed the eye test. His pitches looked great. As long as his he continues to locate I think he could stick. He's not expected to close or setup but just to do a better job than Burnett or Swarzak or Gray. He does through harder than any of our relievers as well which is nice. Here's to hoping he continues to eat up quality innings anyway he can.
  11. Parmelee. Plays well enough that the team is comfortable with trading Morneau. Maybe a .290/.350/.500. I don't know.
  12. Maybe Rosario next season
  13. I think we could see Berrios and Rosario in the top 3 after this season. Rosario is my favorite prospect. I believe that he could eventually put up Mauer MVP numbers (with a lower average) while playing a decent second base.
  14. I like what you have besides I would switch Pressly for Gibson. He could mostly pitch in the pen as a long reliever and maybe make a spot start or 2 until a starter returns from the DL (I assume someone will be on it for the first couple weeks). This would let him try to cement his role with the twins and also not push Gibson to soon into the rotation. After the DL'ed pitcher returns he could take Roenickes spot in the pen (if everyone is doing about the same and Pressly has done enough to stick around.
  15. He'll move to first. I have nothing to base this on but that he has made some starts there (so I have heard on here in the past) but I do believe that he will be moved to improve 1st in our minors. Would anyone have a problem with him at first?
  16. Eventhough they are mostly all terrible, spring training should be fun to watch with what seems like 28 pitchers competing for 17 spots. There are so many people where you say "Gardy wouldn't part with him," or "he has to make the 25 or he's gone," or well you get the picture. They kinda backed themselves into a corner with all these pitchers when the FO will have to eat some contracts by the end. The twins are better off corralling as many of them as they can catch and placing them in a cardboard box on the street corner with a sign that says, "free to a good home."
  17. I prefer Seattle. They have top prospects that should be knocking on the door soon and should provide more story lines to follow.
  18. Thank you! I just realized that they were only doing the top 50. (Could have read the full title of Seth's blog) I completely agree that berrios will jump way up the list after a solid season (I believe in low A). Rosario is my favorite twins prospect and I feel he could have been a top 90 guy. Rankings are merely rankings. They are fun to look at and discuss but nothing to get upset about. Reality is they don't hold much weight because of how often and how much players change throughout the course of a season and also the offseason.
  19. Nervous that the only guys left to be named are Sano and buxton... I felt we would have maybe 1 or 2 in the 80-100 range.
  20. The problem is most note that Dozier would be the starting SS if Florimon can't hold it down. I believe in Dozier as a serviceable major leaguer but feel he is better off at 2B where we also don't have a starter. I can't believe competion for Plouffe was a bigger priority than a middle infielder. what if Carroll and Florimon or dozier get hurt? You have Escobar and what?
  21. haha you guys didn't need to fix the cover. It doesn't bring down the value or ruin the integrity of the book. I know regret bringing it up! The only reason I noticed is because I read so gosh darn slow!
