  1. To be fair, Buxton on the whole, has faced tougher pitchers, but you're right, for the moment anyway, he is swinging at the pitchers's pitches that Sano, with his extra experience, is holding back on.
  2. Another great day,, today. It looks like he's taking as many or more professional ABs than anyone else on the team. And he passed his first test at 3B with flying colors. (He now has equal 21.4% BB and K rates. Pretty amazing start for a power hitting rookie in those two departments.)
  3. Yup... I would guess he would be better at either corner than Arcia- in very short order, he's that good. I hope that after seeing Sano for a week, people that doubted his athleticism can put to rest their previous concerns about any alleged shortcomings. And while Sano was sent to steal second base and caught by a very good catcher, I'm guessing he was on his own in that heads-up play to take second on the throw to third on Plouffe in the third inning- that was a play a veteran baserunner makes.
  4. The Baltimore announcers were saying that the Twins love his fielding but are concerned about his hitting- but thought he had made good progress in AAA. Not showing itself yet, Terry.
  5. Are they expecting someone coming up? You really shouldn't take the chances on getting a pitcher injured while playing in unfamiliar territory. Quade had to have a pitcher bat the other day with a game on the line, so it seems guys must be nicked up, up and down the system. And no, it's not Terry's way to trade away a top prospect.
  6. Thanks for the update. Could be worse, but this type of thing unfortunately has become an annual event for Kepler. Hopefully, this time "day-to-day" really means day-to-day.
  7. Excepting the error he made when I saw him early May at Chattanooga, he's mostly looked this good since then.
  8. I thought everyone who objected to calling up Sano said he wouldn't contribute much in terms of WAR playing only as a DH? This guy in the middle of the lineup has transformed the team (Twins are 5-2 since his call-up), and shown the way to everyone else in the lineup on renewing their selectivity at the plate to force pitchers to throw more hittable pitches (21.4% BB-rate!). Remember how good the Twins were at taking BBs in 2014? Obviously he won't continue his .600 BABIP over a whole season, but he has a legit shot at ROY if he can sustain anything close to how good he looks at the plate at the moment. And how about playing defense at 3rd and running the bases? I guess we can lower our concern levels on those two fronts, as well.
  9. Asking again on Luis Arraez. Lots of intriguing performance and personal information about him. How close is he to being considered as much, or more a prospect than Cabbage and Blankenhorn? Is the glove translatable to the major leagues at this point? He's been killing it at the plate, both this year and last year, and he just turned 18 in April.
  10. Along with Tommy's 7 game streak. The Twins have the best MLB starter since June 1? Who would have thunk it?
  11. The Baltimore broadcast put up a graphic showing that only Drew Smyly has a longer current consecutive game streak of holding the opposition to 2 runs or less. Smyly has 9 going to last season (on the DL since May 15). Tommy "Living on the Edge" Milone now sits at 7 straight since June 4.
  12. If they spend time doing ruing over any of the things you are contemplating for longer than 5 minutes, than that's time wasted that hopefully is being spent on outside upgrade options. No one else from the bullpen not already on the 40-man is worthy to be added right now, and if they somehow suddenly become worthy, than one of the catchers will be easily removed from the 40-man (or possibly 60-dayed, in the case of Pinto).
  13. How do you come to that conclusion? Both Herrmann and Fryer are both highly inconsequential figures, easily removed, and Pinto's days as a major league catcher are likely over, as well. If the Twins aren't actively looking for a catching upgrade as well as at least one or two pen upgrades with their surplus of prospects relative to the limited open 2016 available roster spots, then they're not doing their proper due diligence.
  14. What else were you expecting from the Twins here? The club had been sitting at a 39-man roster, even WITH Nolasco on the DL for quite some time already. What moving Nolasco off the roster and Hermann on it, makes it easier for them to subtract below-replacement guys like Hermann and Fryer and add key components in July in the pen, rotation or position players, that present potential upgrades for the stretch run.
  15. Revolving door in the Twins clubhouse of late. Good to see them finally 60-day Nolasco. The timing of this move strangely coincides with the news on Nolasco's surgery. This might be Hermann's last rodeo with the Twins.
  16. Sano... soon is now. Now up to the clean-up spot for Molitor, hitting for power and average, plus plate discipline. Anyone still opting for calling him up in September, instead? It sure looks like he's up to stay.
  17. He actually got the RBI yesterday, as it became a suspended game continued today. And the Southern League only plays a 140 game schedule.
  18. To be clear, absolutely not. You are far better than just another strawman gambit. The comparisons are made in the sense of how best to both develop and exploit the best available talent on the Twins roster and in the greater system, and then maximizing that utility with the big club in both the short and long term. Frankly, none of the 3 immediate LHP options in AAA are all that inspiring, but through the first half of the season, Rogers looks the most like a major league pitcher. And Mike just said it best in the previous post, it's not like his chances for cracking the starting rotation are going to get better any time soon, in all likelihood they never will. The Twins have for now, opted for the least inspiring, but perhaps the most intriguing option, instead. But there's no doubt that O'Rourke will be the strictest of LOOGYs, and even in the most limited of roles, he is the wildest of wild cards in the Twins pitching card deck. At the moment he's at best, a curiosity, but not exactly a bringer of a lot of hope for multiple positive outcomes- but hey!, if he works out, there still might be room for another LHP before long. And speaking of roles, Duensing's last 8 IP notwithstanding (artificially bolstered by a .111 BABIP), his K/ 9 is still at a career low- while his BB/9, WHIP and FIP are all at career highs. And no split advantage, OPS vs. LHB is .837... vs RHB is .748. Not sure if has any role for much longer, but he certainly could stay hot in his current inexact "role", but is that what contenders usually expect to win games consistently with?
  19. Yeah, and why are their still some folks on this board that dismiss a proven strategy for its best arms that has worked very well over a significant period of time...? oh, and they just keep winning... whatever happened to "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"? That's another proven strategy that has worked well over a significant period of time.
  20. Except they're not comparable, at all.
  21. Clearly, major context is missing... many more pitchers developed over the last 15 years, and particularly the K rates, for internally developed pitchers are in fact accelerating for the rest of the league, except for the Twins , of course.
  22. Let's compare strikeout rates next...
  23. That's true, but only if you choose to ignore the obvious. Check the video I posted from just one year before he pitched for the Twins. And there are many more. Just check his videos from the CWS and NCAAs leading up to the draft, and then get back to me.
  24. Clearly... this is not true.
