  1. The stat would still count, though.
  2. I'll probably get in trouble for this, but do you really consider this a helpful addition to the topic? Seriously?
  3. Nice, concise writeup. I think with RPs interest apparently waning, there might be an opening-- if of course it isn't too much of a strain on your schedule...
  4. So, on a smaller scale- Twins version of fast-track- would you argue that Aderlin Mejia is our Machado? That is, is it his "freaky" ability (Twins-version of freaky, mind you) that Mejia qualified to go straight from Low-rookie ball to A+, skipping 2 steps in the process, but Sano had to do the year-on-year single step progressions?
  5. Hey, every poster on Twins Daily was once a rookie too, er, or something like that...
  6. True dat. Remember, it was during Spring Training that Andy was allowed to revise and amend his remarks and (alleged) theory on "Pitch to Contact"....that somehow the media and public had misinterpreted what he meant....only now, unfortunately for Andy, the "bastard child" has come to full fruition.
  7. I went with "science" for my source on this one, wise one: Survival statistics for the most common cancers : Cancer Research UK
  8. I want to look at your confidence levels in more concrete terms that I can relate to, let's see if we're on the same page- I see your vote of confidence in Ryan is the same as the flip of the coin (chimpanzees can do that), for Gardy, it's slightly better than correctly guessing the outcome of a roll of a single die, and speaking of "dying", for Anderson. your confidence level is equivalent to surviving lung cancer. On these terms I would concur with your lack of a vote of confidence for the season thus far.
  9. You boldy projected on Wittgren, I concur that was a major Twins miss. But how about Plawecki and his time frame to the bigs? I'm probably as high on Berrios as you, but a legit catching prospect would sure have been nice to see, too.
  10. Are we supposed to apply our own palms then?
  11. Not complaining about getting Buxton- at all- but how about "what could have been" by drafting Kevin Gausman, who debuts for the Orioles tonight. Or drafting Kevin Appel and getting two high picks this year instead of just one?
  12. Though Buck has slowed down recently from his torrid start, long-term he remains 1 or 1A on Twins prospects lists and still projects to be top-ten in all of baseball in the midseason rankings...Thanks to HOFer Paul Molitor for adding further expert support and opinion to the notion that Buxton has legitimate projection as a 30/30 guy. Here's the ESPN1500 audio link: Paul Molitor says Byron Buxton can be a 30/30 player
  13. Funny how scarce the "slammers" are around these parts lately?
  14. It's pretty easy to do the math. And to know that Gardy always throws the rookies under the bus.
  15. Ongoing discrepancy on Morneua's contract amount, ESPN says $15M, BR says $14M- but down from the front-end $15M that Morneau got in the first few years of his extension, Cot's says Morneau has been paid $14M throughout the contract.
  16. Sarcasm will get you nowhere on this board, the Twins apologists are apt to take you seriously! Despite the unevenness of the M&M duo, I wouldn't be opposed to a joint promotion to AAA or to the Twins. Yesterday would suffice.
  17. At least Gardy has more evidence for this move than he has for "Deduno gives the Tigers fits".
  18. Carroll is .368 BA vs. Porcello Willingham is .600 vs. Porcello Twins as a team are batting .325 vs. Porcello. Tonight looks like the Twins best shot this series, unless Deduno is taking his magic pills on Friday.
  19. Gardy needs a win, tonight is probably their best shot of the 4 in this series. He's going with what he considers his "A" lineup for doing as such. Dioumit .1055 OPS versus Porcello.
  20. I'll counter that by saying that you should work for the IPCC, as the Chief said so well..."SCIENCE!"
  21. Alex Meyer has the 2nd best FIP in the Eastern League (basically tied with Kevin Guasman, who debuts for the Orioles tonight). No reason to hold him back if spots open up above him.
  22. The point being, you find a place for elite players that mash to play....Braun, Cabrera, Fielder....Sano...let's go already.
  23. September call-up should certainly be in the cards at this point.
  24. "No way?" I think there was a strong case made last year ( I was just one of many) that the Twins were slow-playing Sano last year by opting him for a full-year assignment in low-A Beloit- to Sano's devlopmental detriment. Sano could have spent half the year in Ft Myers last year- much better facilities, better training and weather conditions to play in, superior coaching, opposing pitchers that would pitch at him and not around him as happened in Beloit, etc. I think the proof of this supposition is represented in how well he's doing this year in Ft Myers. The glove is what's holding him back, but playing 3rd base is a skill that can be developed along the way (the better fields in Florida would have aided in that aim), most importantly, his lack of defensive acumen to this point hasn't affected his hitting prowess whatsoever. If the Twins had fast-tracked Sano to have started this season at New Britain instead of Ft Myers- and if he had been killing it anywhere near like he is now, the current open spot at 3B on the Twins would at least have been a consideration for Sano to get a short-term shot at trying out. This season is obviously lost anyway, using this year and perhaps next to get the real prospects chances to acclimate themselves to the majors gives the team a fighting chance to make a legit run in 2015.
  25. Morneau in May looks like he's been using Mauer's quickswing batting tee- lots of short-swing blooping hits- not sure how the recent power drain that will play out with his value to prospective trading partners...
