  1. Unfortunately, there is also the issue with his borderline personality.
  2. He's definitely not the right fit for a role at the major leagues at the moment- they apparently aren't going to cut any of their OFers yet... and with Escobar playing a ton in LF and Nunez out, the Twins have to have a guy they can count on who could play all three IF positions in a pinch, apparently Bernier gets the vote in that potential scenario.
  3. Based on the Marlins track record, they don't care about this calculation, they just bring up the best players.
  4. Not me. At the time I said to expect by June to see Buxton in the top ten in multiple hitting categories in the Southern League- he's already eclipsed my timeline . The dude was, is, and will be, the real deal- people still don't appreciate enough what he had to overcome in the aftermath of a nightmare 2014.
  5. That ought to get Buck's juices flowing....
  6. Here's where the projected Super 2 date might come into consideration?
  7. Yeah, interesting indeed. One game played in MiLB in LF, one game played in MLB in LF, and now the #1 LF on the Jays depth chart. Baseball is a funny sport.
  8. But he is still only 26, not a month away from 35.
  9. The difference being... a loyal soldier vs. still viewed as a prospect who might possibly be claimed after roster removal?
  10. Yep. Just not as a "utility man."
  11. The SIERA is still pretty good @ 2.73. His BABIP is crazy high at .384, GB% is near 43%, 10% above career average. His K/9 at 11.89 and K% are as high as they've ever been since he played in rookie league in 2012. Control is pretty much as good as ever. One caveat, the LD% is much too high. Looks like the kid just needs to make a few adjustments in pitch selection in the count and a little better location while facing more experienced hitters and he should be fine.
  12. I didn't see anyone post anything, so here goes. After raking for the Jays AAA team in April and early May, Chris Colabello was called up and immediately inserted in the Jays LF spot for Tuesday's night's game with the Yankees (following Danny Valencia in LF for the Jays on Monday night- Valencia's played four positions for the Jays this year, and was a scratch for this game after spraining his ankle while tripping on the clubhouse stairs on Monday night). Meanwhile, back to Colabello, he's played all of one professional game in LF, back in 2013 for Rochester, but apparently survived out there, at least for one night. Oh.... Cola also went 2-4 with a single and a double Amusingly. in the call-up announcement, a Toronto website described Cola as a "utility man." Uh-Huh.
  13. Business as usual, rewarding a loyal soldier. And he will not be claimed when he's soon sent back down. They are holding that roster spot for Santana, after all.
  14. Any word on who gets the call to replace Michael? Not any obvious choices at the ready based on performance, Goodrum probably qualifies based on seniority, would they give Gordon a quick look at AA?
  15. They're probably also pretty sure that when they inevitably remove Bernier from the roster, he won't get claimed. Probably a lot closer call with Beresford going up and coming back down. Feel bad for the guy, not much more he can do, performance-wise, is there?
  16. The Red Wings website lists a third option for tomorrow's starter, Pat Dean.
  17. Apparently you can never have enough veteraniness, even of the AAAA kind. Actually, it's more of the same old same old: rewarding the loyal good scouts who re-up with the Twins after they reach free agency. It definitely makes little sense in a year where you would think they want to evaluate any and every potential future prospect for 2016 and beyond.
  18. I would hope so. He's gotta be the best guy in the rotation for the bulldog role. Good chance to learn to fight through situations without his best stuff, particularly when they really need him. Would love to see him K a couple guys this inning.
  19. Whether he's in the lineup or not, Hicksie's got the "message" down on the farm- 3-5 night, so far. A home run short of the cycle. OPS is now @ .941
  20. As injury prone as Buxton was in 2014..... didn't Buxton see/remember Kendrys Morales breaking his leg after jumping up and stomping on home plate after a walk-off homer for the Angels? Cringe-inducing, especially after watching Michaels' injury- which looked pretty horrific.
