  1. Not really. Only a handful think more could have been had. You're not reading this thread right.
  2. A hope and a prayer for a Dozier resurgence is far more realistic and logical thinking than taking on Forsythe in place of Dozier and expecting something good will come from it.
  3. Hope that's not intended to say that Forsythe is the "Belisle of the Infield".
  4. Even if Dozier takes the QO (big IF), the Twins could have easily afforded him with the coming salary purges. It would have likely been money well spent as a rare dual role of 2019 placeholder, but with leadership qualities and a representation of continuity from among the survivors on the roster- who all might get ornery enough to get their act back together after this year's debacle.
  5. I dunno. Let's just hope "we don't get fooled again."
  6. To me, it was pretty obvious that they changed "the plan" the day Sano was promoted to Rochester. This decision to move Escobar ASAP, and possibly Dozier's pending move, have been in the works for a little while now.
  7. The rest of the team is responsible for less-meaningful games in August, not Escobar's departure.
  8. I give the FO credit for the courage to face fan enmity by making the move that had to be made- given how the circumstances aligned. Never would have happened under previous management, Ryan and Co. would have likely overpaid for a well-liked/fan favorite who happened to be coming off of a career year.
  9. Yep. He was out of the lineup last night Rochester. I figured something was up when they moved Sano up to AAA a week or so ago.
  10. No "maybes" about it. It's often said to be axiomatic that the toughest jump for a prospect is to master High A. Kiriloff is making that "adjustment" look like child's play. Despite missing a season of development and his youthful disadvantages relative to his peers, the kid appears to be a natural born hitter. Can't wait until he further expands the power aspects to his bat.
  11. Agreed. But a move to AAA now gives him a chance to work on seeing and adjusting to more breaking balls sooner. If he can make the necessary adjustments and get that K% ~25% or less, he could be an impact- and sorely needed- RH power bat by mid-season 2019.
  12. You got that right. Lots of folks were pushing the early panic button. The young man flipped the switch. Here's his slash since June 1: .306/.388/.628/(1.016) I doubt they add him to the 40-man this year... but it certainly seems like it's time to promo to AAA.
  13. How many times have you seen a 3B make a catch directly overhead and ~100 feet behind him, plus a crosswind? I haven't seen the probabilities, but it's probably less than 20%. That's almost always a SS or LF play, but of course, both were pre-positioned in another zip code.
  14. Perhaps a stat-o-matic glimpse at the future of utilizing pitching staffs?
  15. I suspect that there is some temptation in moving things along and having Sano more ready to jump into the lineup to deal with the potentially imminent loss of Escobar and/or Dozier. The front office still has tickets to sell... and having the likes of Motter and Adrianza rounding out the infield going into August isn't going to turn the turnstiles too much.
  16. Speaking of prospects/suspects not in the Twins top 20... where might Bailey Ober be @ season's end? The K/BB ratio and strike to ball efficiency are outstanding of late. How many 9 inning A Ball games time out like Cedar Rapids did tonight at 2:18? If Ober can sustain this to successive levels.... Sign me up.
  17. Thanks, Tom (and Thry). Good work. Very helpful.
  18. This is what I'm talking about... Items like this are helpful, picking Miller's brain about the situation with Sano and the Golden Trio, perhaps off the record, seems like a good source of inside scuttlebutt.
  19. Don't get me wrong, I much appreciate the topic being brought up, it's just that the article is highly incomplete as it invites more questions than it tells us in "what is happening in Ft Myers." Certainly, phone inquiries can be made to the local radio broadcaster, fans in the know, "inside sources", etc., to give the article more granularity.
  20. Jeffers better be moving up. And time to actually immerse him in Catcher 101 with a good coach and a peer with more catching tools. I wrote about Kiriloff back in May. It's easy to project his what-if? trajectory to him now being in AAA and knocking on the door. At this juncture, all signs point to him being the Twins best hitting prospect since Morneau/Mauer. Kiriloff's numbers at age 20 compare very favorably and meet or exceed the latter two's hitting stats at the same age and level. Both Morneau and Mauer didn't lose a year to injury and both ended their 20 year old season with AA exposure. Will Twins management continue to be aggressive with him and give Kiriloff a AA look-see in August if he continues to rake?
  21. QO seems like the obvious route, here. (Boatloads of cash should be coming off of the payroll)
  22. A little more research into Sano's future-as-a-Twin status might be helpful here in making this article even more informative, ie: - At what date do the Twins gain another year of control over Sano? - How many options remain on Sano after 2018 ( in case of need for 2-yr. "fix")? - How much does Sano currently weigh? - Who is working with Sano on his plate approach and dietary habits? - With Mauer's and Morrison's (and Escobar's) contracts expiring, is there any hint from management on what position is envisioned for Sano in 2019? - Bremer mentioned that it is anticipated that Sano might soon move up to AAA, is there a time frame and/or set of criteria set by management in which this scenario would take place?
