  1. First time checking in on things in over a week and am greeted by another Wallner article. What a shocker. What's not to love... the .204 BA, 21 HR's versus 39 rbi's, the speed on the bases....I know we really like that strong arm that pairs with the bottom 15% in range covered. As well run as this organization is I say let's run Wallner and Larnach back at the corners versus going with the high upside of Jenkins. Why we are considering either one of them exemplifies how poorly run we are. I would go with Buxton, Jenkins and possibly Martin with Clemens as your platoon guy if we are sticking with internal options. I have no faith in a trade that lands us a quality OF or a meaningful FA signing. It's been a stress-free month not watching this product.
  2. Pretty generous with the 2025 view… I couldn’t even call this mediocre, just me though.
  3. Welcome back Pablo, a professional start for a unprofessional organization. The best you can hope for… no not Kenny Rogers… is to be traded in the winter to a real MLB team.
  4. Thankful my MLB subscription ended Saturday.,, maybe another Wallner article on how valuable he is would help… what’s that, still stuck on 20 hr’s with 35rbi’s and ops sitting at .788 after another 0-4 performance with 3k’s…. If this is consistency we are in serious trouble.
  5. My only pushback on that route is.... what has Falvey, and to some extent Rocco, shown that makes you believe they can build a team for the long term? They had arguably a top 5-7 pitching staff this year and built a roster around them that couldn't hit, field, run the base paths and we're fundamentally a disaster. Literally all they needed was a team with speed and and above average defensivey... they could easily have been Milwaukee 2.0. There was zero thought put into the everyday lineup... which is concerning in a major rebuild that relies on trades.
  6. I agree there's more value in the winter, however, if you are not getting a deal with some guys that can play on day 1 I personally wouldn't trade them. Maybe you could land a Duran and prospect for Ryan, than yes I would do it, but the trade should address the lineup that helps now. I personally would keep one of the two and would lean towards Lopez... he seems more mature and and a better role model for the younger players. If coI uld get anything for Ober I am making that deal as well. You are probably being more realistic than me, there are to many holes to plug to be competing for a playoff spot.
  7. Purely speculation on the 27 season lockout.... There are always teams willing to overpay at the trading deadline. Plus the trading team wouldn't be covering either contract if that happens.
  8. I see no reason to trade either Lopez or Ryan unless a proposal is so good that even Falvey couldn't get it wrong. Unfortunately his trading disaster at the deadline nettted a couple of weak left handed hitting OF's , a utility journeyman minor leaguer, and two SP's that haven't produced when called up to the MLB level, in fairness they are young. We need 4-5 BP arms and 5-6 everyday lineup guys. So there's that! I would prefer to hold onto Lopez and Ryan until the trading deadline next season if we are as bad as expected, they are both signed through 27 so they will still have plenty of value at that time.
  9. I guess in the Twins organization a .213 BA qualifies as hitting consistency and a logjam of starting pitchers begins with an ERA approaching 5.00 or better. Unfortunately you are probably correct, I would not be surprised if the two proven starters are moved.... I do believe Matthews is ready to take a step forward, which offsets Ober's decline past mediocrity into the abyss of multi homer games.
  10. Just don't think bringing in a slap hitter that is another below average defender is moving the ticket sales when the team is winning at a .400 clip... just my initial thoughts
  11. Cannot and should not happen..... so it just might.
  12. Another thing that is being pushed aside is Wallner's injury history, in 3 1/2 seasons he has what.... Something like 800 AB's. The power cannot be ignored, but neither can his defense and speed. One of the dumbest moves our brilliant manager decided was a good idea was to have him leading off, that decision should get you fired alone. I think he has value as a DH and an occasional RF appearance. Value increases significantly if he could transition to 1st.... though some think that's a silly idea.
  13. They are similar at the plate and in the field…. if Im being honest Wallner is probably a slightly better defender and baserunner. I would take Wallner at this point in their careers.
  14. I would never have put money on Matt Wallner for three articles in three days. He will be with the team next season, it is a make or break year I believe. When the season still counted and actually meant something he was terrible at the plate, he was what he is in the OF. He's picked it up at the plate, hopefully it's sustainable and carries over. These games during his uptick have zero pressure, win or lose there is no ramifications on the team. Honest question for those that do the gold caretaker... Does it stop all the popup ads. I can hardly finish a post without the post disappearing from all the ads refreshing the screen.
  15. Pretty sure the sentiment of my post was Larnach shouldn’t be part of the rebuild…Wallner due to his speed and defensive limitations is best suited as a DH long term and could be a solution at first. Not sure where that equals the two of them are the same player.
  16. While not the same players on offense, they are similar defensivey, and yes defense is an important part of the game. They are both near the bottom of the league in defensive range and defensive runs saved. Neither is a threat on the base paths. Wallners OPS is largely driven by his HR rate, a lot of meanigless…, 20 hrs w/ 35 rbi’s. Throw in a K rate around 35% with a BA of .216 and a BA w/ RISP of .173 and his value when looking at the big picture is grey. The HR's are attractive. Needs to do better with RISP. To me he is a DH, and or as stated multiple times I am not sure why he hasn't gotten a shot at 1st, Clemens and Julien are not the answer... ita joke we keep's forcing them there. I don't see Larnach as part of the rebuild, Walner has some value, especially if he could solve the 1st base issue for a year or two.
  17. The offense and defense is such a mess, that area really needs to be the focus this off-season. Unfortunately Falvey, who hasn't shown he has the ability to field a MLB lineup, will be responsible for a major retooling. Ideally they keep Lopez and Ryan and if the team perforns at 2025 levels; , poor plate approaches, below average defense and zero clue on the base paths, they could be moved at the 2026 trading deadline. If Falvey goes this route you have Lopez, Ryan, Matthews, Abel and either Bradley or Ober. Ober currently isn't giving the team a chance to win. If he cannot get his velocity up to where it was when he was effective he could be dealt this winter. Knowing how the owners and FO operates I am guessing we will see a rotation of: Ober, Matthews, Abel, Festa and either a type of signing in the Rich Hill, Shoemaker category or Bradley getting the 5th spot. Looking at a 65 win season if this turns out to be the case.
  18. It’s impossible to figure out what motivates these professional athletes. Some want the big pay check, some want to be treated fairly because winning is the motivation… the best hate to lose and make everyone around them better, harder in baseball…. But watching this current team more than I should, they just seem to be going through the motions.
  19. The entire team isn’t trending in the right direction. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to get fired up to play for this current team. Falvey and Rocco have to go…. There needs to be a fresh start next season. Hopefully Toronto feels sorry for us and let’s off by the 5th inning.
  20. No doubt… and their scouting department while we are at it.
  21. I just can’t take listening to how great these offenses we are facing are, whether it’s the A’s, White Sox, Jays… they are all great…. Should be able to easily get a lineup put together, seems everyone else has.
  22. Looking good! This is a team that has quit. The ace tuned out a month and a half ago.
  23. Making Scherzer work pretty hard there. If they get up the game will be over.
  24. 80's 90's.... players are players. This is about manipulation and money.... which is wise if you have a real MLB roster and there isn't room for high performing minor league players. This isn't the case for this team. We have 3-4 MLB players (if that) in our lineup. When you have a real FO that can field a real team, that can stockpile talent, than options are there to manipulate team control, eg... holding a player back as a replacement for a player that the team plans on moving on from or using the minor leaguer as trade capital. None of this is the case for this FO... If Jenkins, Culpepper can play they should be up here next year. But this FO and manager are clueless without a plan.
  25. I get what you’re saying, and by no means do I think he’s dogging, but it does make me question if winning is important to him. There aren’t many competitors with his talent that would want to play on this team given the choice to leave.
