  1. I love Elizabethton. They have so many great prospects with Buxton, Walker, Berrios, Harrison, Mata, Kepler, Chargois, Duffey, Bard, Boyd, and Goodrum. Loaded with talent!
  2. What is your order of attention for the Twins minor league teams? In other words, what team do you most want to win on a daily basis? For me it's Elizabethton New Britain Beloit Rochester Ft. Myers GCL
  3. Because of financial commitment I think it's Nishioka. He can't play either of course.
  4. Oriole Park at Camden Yards is still an awesome name. Minute Maid, U.S. Cellular, and AT&T Park all are terrible names.
  5. You should have named it M-eow-er.
  6. I don't know what else to say. I get there is a Major League allusion in there.
  7. I'd trade him just to get rid of him. He's not a terrible player, but he doesn't have a future here. If he can't throw a 4 seamer accurately, he can't pitch in the majors. Although, Dickey is an interesting case against that.
  8. Pavano doesn't play for the Twins at this point. It's basically time to cut our losses and move on. Capps is a little different on the other hand, but I'm guessing he doesn't get moved. I hope we re-sign Capps again in the offseason. Maybe then we could trade him that time around.
  9. Well I doubt it's Deduno. And not just because of the last start. Most likely Devries or Walters, maybe both, or maybe neither? Morneau has a shot at comeback player of the year too. Willingham may flirt with 40, but I'd be surprised if he reached it.
  10. If those are the definitions, I'll take two #2s over a #1 and a #3.
  11. Unfair it's Matt Capps. Fair if it's Matt Tolbert.
  12. The Twins may move up to 3rd in the Central. That's pretty cool and positive. -Whoooaaa weird smileys you stuck in RP.
  13. That's the biggest concern, but I guess I see it as a showcase to why we would offer him a contract next year. Better to see a little than nothing if he is an option. I don't know. Maybe the whole thing is a little silly. I still think it's worth a shot.
  14. I did say he could, but I view him getting time at 2B since he's started there 651/982 games. Career at 7.9WAR over 9 seasons isn't exciting. I bring up career because I don't think it's crazy to think he could perform like he did from 2004-2009.
  15. Career .689 With 3/5 seasons (qualified) passing the mark. 2010 was ugly, but in 2011 and 2012 he has struggled to get PAs. I like the power he could bring and it's low risk.
  16. They didn't test before 2009? (serious question)That seems a little far fetched.
  17. Not only do your consistently negative posts show what's wrong with this site, taking only that post shows how short-sighted you are. Did I not say he was young at 28, versatile in playing 3 positions, good defensively, has some power (OPS is typically around .700), and hits better in comparison to nearly all middle infielders of Twins past? Feel free to shoot some more smart ass comments my way. You never seem to hesistate.
  18. It's half a season. Why not? How about instead of mocking the idea and acting as if you're some sort of genius, you explain why you disagree? He could be a utility infielder if anything and would start while Plouffe sits out. He hits better than Nishioka, fields better than Nishioka, has more power than Niskioka, and more importantly isn't Nishioka.
  19. Exactly. He's better than Casilla, Niskioka, and Dozier (right now).
  20. He's a cheap upgrade in my mind. His last few seasons have been rough, but I think it's a good idea. Please excuse my exaggeration and excitement.
  21. Source from a Cleveland beat writer. https://twitter.com/hoynsie/status/232916537332346882
  22. The Twins absolutely NEED to claim him! He's a 28 year old 2B/SS/3B that plays acceptable defense and boasts a career .689 OPS. That's not great, but is really good by Twins standards for middle infielders. He's down a little this year, but does have a .249 BA and a .639 OPS. He's only signed for 800,000 this year which is cheap. Two questions. Would they have likely have to work out a trade because it looks like he's somewhat good? What should the Twins do?
  23. Think of how good E-Town will be now!!!!! They are already dominating, lol.
  24. This was the biggest thing I disagree with. How often do we see players in their 30's peak? Cuddyer and Willingham are a few examples that we have seen first hand. I don't buy that there is a prime in baseball unlike other sports. It's not very physical and is much more mental. A player in his 'physical prime', or in that 27-29 year old range, isn't significantly more likely to be in his 'career prime'. To follow that up, I agree that Revere gives the Twins a better chance. I strongly disagree with trading Span before Revere because it is an EXCELLENT idea to trade high on Ben after this season. It's almost a guarantee that Revere will decline next year and his value couldn't get much higher. Both Revere AND Span should be sent packing if a good offer comes around because neither is necessary for the future. Hicks is our CF, Arcia is our RF, and Benson is our LF. Hicks, Benson, and Arcia will of course need a little more time to develop, but they are all knocking at the door in AA and it's possible we see them in September call-ups and certainly in Spring Training. I wouldn't mind holding on to Denard until the 2013 deadline rather than the offseason to be a stopgap in the meantime. Simply put, Denard is more 'proven' and can be counted on to compete at a consistent level. His value probably won't change much. Parmelee, Doumit, and Mastroianni are all reasonable stopgap solutions as well. MY PLAN: Trade Revere in the 2012-2013 offseason. Spring Training OF/Opening Day OF: Willingham LF, Span CF, Mastroianni RF, 4th OF Parmelee (Parmelee splits time at 1st and DH in addition) Here's where it gets interesting. Think of the trio Benson, Arcia, and Hicks... Trade Span at the 2013 deadline. If 1/3 Outfielders or more progress. Extremely likely. Second Half OF (If one of Benson/Hicks progress): Willingham LF, Hicks/Benson CF, Mastroianni RF, 4th OF Parmelee Second Half OF (If only Arcia progresses): Willingham LF, Mastroianni CF, Arcia RF, 4th OF Parmelee (Parmelee splits time at 1st and DH in addition) Trade Willingham at the 2013 deadline. If 2/3 Outfielders or more progress. Somewhat likely. Second Half OF (If both Arcia and one of Hicks/Benson progress) Parmelee/Doumit LF, Hicks/Benson CF, Arcia RF, 4th OF Mastroianni Second Half OF (If both Hicks and Benson progress; Not Arcia) Benson LF, Hicks CF, Parmelee/Doumit RF, 4th OF Mastroianni Consider trading Justin Morneau if 3/3 Outfielders progress. Unlikely. Second Half OF Benson LF, Hicks CF, Arcia RF, 4th OF Mastroianni In hindsight, I actually like keeping Span last deadline. It's nice to have him around while we wait for players with more potential. None of these arrangements are intended to be competitive and you'll see that I am expecting the entire trio to be prepared for 2014, not 2013. Hopefully Span, Revere, and Willingham would all fetch good SP hauls. I love Denard Span and Ben Revere and would hate to see them go, I really do. The moves would definitely be very unpopular with the fanbase and I understand that. They both have great personalities and have become fan favorites. But what's to say we don't like the new guys too? Trading Morneau makes me very uncomfortable because I am one of the believers. If the outfield all pans out in 2013, the Twins really can't put Parmelee there and he would need to spend more time between 1B and DH. This is a solid plan to derail the logjam in the outfield and what I think would get the Twins back on track to contention!
  25. Currently the necessary number for qualification is 338 (337.9(109X3.1)) Plate Appearances needed. Ben Revere is now under the requisite by 7PAs at 331. Look for him to join the Top 5 'officially' soon. He would be #2 with the batting average he has now. Last night's game also saw BR11 extend his hit streak to 20 games. Mauer has fell off to .321 after a slump of sorts, but is very much in contention for his 4th title. Trout is still above and beyond #1. We have a few great players to support down the stretch and there's still plenty of season left!
