  1. Maybe we should let Doug Mientkiewitz manage the club after booting lame duck Gardy. He seems to be really good
  2. Not sure, but Baxendale and Duffey are both looking like gems from the draft if they continue to put in these starts.
  3. When will we be seeing some promotions? I'm getting anxious!!
  4. There's this thing called OPS, that is almost like WAR, but without the defense. I think that there should be a stat that includes SBs in OPS. I've never found anything of the sort, but perhaps it already exist. Like I was saying though, go OBP+a modified slugging (TBs+SBs/ABs)= True offensive worth. Caught stealing could also be included if you wanted more of a net stolen base deal. But I think that little things speed guys can do (or maybe assume they can), like scoring from 1st on a double or bunting, negate that.
  5. Advertisement for my Buxton group just passing through. I know groups aren't really "hip" at TD though. http://twinsdaily.com/groups/buxton-s-blantantly-berzerk-bumpy-bodacious-bandwagon-ride.html
  6. Rookie mistake. Haha just kidding. I like the point you made, so a little emphasis doesn't hurt.
  7. Buxton recent article MWL notes: Buxton bolts out of gate | MiLB.com News | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball Byron has dropped below the double mendoza and now sits 391/511/652 We may be in for some more regression, but hopefully he'll still continue to ball. Thankfully, the baserunning has looked a little better. 8 swipes and 4 CS. Still, as a 80 speed guy, it would be great to get that SB% above .700
  8. Buxton is at 419/526/694 for his slash Fld % is at .976 with only 1 Error
  9. Oh and I also read your screenplay. VERY FUNNY and I enjoyed it a lot. The subtle things like the chair trip made it fantastic. You're really good at painting the picture for people's minds.
  10. I too am a fan of Brian Dozier's hair. Not sure about his play just YET.
  11. Buxton was 1 for 3 today in the Kernel's 11th win. He stole a base, was caught stealing, and was picked off as well. 2 walks in addition to a run were contributed too.
  12. Adam Jones with more patience and speed. He seems similar to Austin Action Jackson too.
  13. I'd rather keep him #2, but leadoff would work well too. I wouldn't worry about him clogging up the base paths since the Twins cannot steal bases anyway.
  14. One thing that stuck out. And I apologize for pointing this out. "D.J. Baxendale lowered his ERA to 1.04 with seven innings of one-run work." That's not possible unless the run was unearned.
  15. Byron's stats after the first 11 Games: Batting slash: 474/576/737 Other batting:18-38, 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 HRs, 9 RBI, 6 BB, 8 SO Baserunning: 4 SB, 2 CS, SB% 66.7% Fielding: 24 POs, 0 ER, 100% Fld
  16. I'd never vote for him. The only players with confirmed steroid use that I would consider voting for are Barry Bonds, Rafael Palmeiro, and Roger Clemens. Pettitte is borderline with those stats if it hadn't been revealed he used HGH. Since he did, that makes it blatantly clear he shouldn't. The only reason he could possibly get in is because he was basically a career Yankee. If Jeter had used steroids, I could see him still getting voted in anyway.
  17. This may be the reason that some of our pitchers took a liking to Drew Butera. It's much better to get those low strikes called rather than the high ones. I think Mauer has been really good at framing inside strikes in addition to the high ones. Pelfrey's first strikeout in that game is worth a look if anyone can find it. You can see the left side of his graph coated with squares too.
  18. The Twins advance prospects appropriately. I've been really content with the way they are running things. I can't really complain about much besides that Angel Mata isn't pitching full seasons. Can the myth that they move them too slow finally be dispelled? All the picks from last year's draft are flying through the system.
  19. Byron Keiron Buxton Role: Cedar Rapids Kernels Starting Centerfielder Age: 19 (DOB 12/18/1993 in Baxley, GA) Measurables: 6'1" 188lbs Acquired: via #2 overall selection in the 2012 Rule IV Draft Rated: #10 by Baseball America; #8 by BaseballProspectUS Strengths: Considered to be a 5 tool player, Byron is the complete package when dreaming of a starting outfielder. His speed is attibuted to be his greatest asset. This gives him quite a bit a range to compliment his strong arm on defense. He's young for his level and is tearing up the MWL so far. Byron Buxton's attitude has been great so far, but upon his selection last June, he appeared to be a little overwhelmed. However, that hasn't been the case since, as it appears Buxton has enough confidence to go around in the Kernels' dugout. Weaknesses: There were doubts about whether he would be a good hitter, but clearly it's grown silent on that front. Buxton has crushed the ball in his brief tenure in the minors, but given the choice, power is the lesser of his strengths. Although, at age 19 he'll have plenty of time to grow. Byron's seemingly effortless and fluid swing also provide comfort. Overall, even the most celebrated nitpickers will have trouble finding faults with Byron Buxton as a prospect. Tool Assessment (BaseballProspectUS): "The Tools: All of them; 8 run; 7+ arm; 6+ raw power; 6+ hit (potential)"
  20. I really did miss him. Glad that Gardy said Willikens was okay after being hit in the shoulder. I wouldn't want Clete to be getting called up as well!
  21. Yeah, my immediate reaction was that this doesn't sound good at all for Hicks. I think the Twins would play Arcia in RF and DH Parmelee. Doumit has been terrible too, so Parm should get plenty of ABs in that role. Mastroianni would become the starting CF. Maybe there isn't a big chance that's how they go forward, but I'd approve of it.
  22. I'll be so excited if Buxton gets promoted within the next month or so. Picture a 9-0 Ft. Myers team plus Byron!
  23. So going forward this looks like the rotation we'll be going with. Worley 10.50 ERA, 3 G Diamond 8.31 ERA, 1 G Correia 3.14 ERA, 2 G Pelfrey 7.36 ERA, 2 G Hernandez 3.86, 2 G Deduno has been good in Rochester so far and Devries is still on the DL. Plus, Walters and now Hendriks in AAA? What depth!
  24. For the current team: Darin Mastroianni, Casey Fien, Wilkin Ramirez, Eduardo EE Escobar, and Pedro Hernandez. Though I'm not really sure about their perceptions. The guys we got in the Liriano trade are two of my favorites for some reason. I sort of like Pressley too.
