  1. It changes it quite a bit as Wandy is suddenly a steal for the Pirates. I'm guessing they offered nothing near the same package.
  2. Parmalee can always play in the OF....... the Twins shouldn't be running Morneau out of town for a guy who hasn't really proven himself in the majors or minors.
  3. 1. Upton won't be traded til this off-season at the earliest. 2. Upton has a lot (see a TON) more value then Span, not to mention he is still only 24 3. The Diamondbacks would want some elite prospects back in return, not a guy like Span. If the Twins truly wanted Upton (I'm not sure why they would) they would have to give up one of Sano/Arcia and 1 or two of Benson/Hicks/Gibson/Rosario to even get in the conversation.
  4. I was at a game in June and the stadium was half empty.
  5. Please bring back the old ones Rocketpig
  6.:rolleyes: Damnit pig it caps me at 4 smiles per post!
  7. The Marlin's have thrown a wrench into all of this with them becoming fire sellers once again, Liriano still rates behind: Grienke, Garza, Johnson and Dempster on the "trading" scale I imagine. However there certainly are less "rentals" avail now as well I imagine.
  8. Sounds like the Rangers are offering Olt for Josh Johnson. I'd have to think the Marlins would have to jump at that trade at this point.
  9. I agree with all of this, I however don't think Anibel Sanchez will even get the chance to see free agency. Seems like the talk around the Tigers is if he preforms well they plan on locking him up, which would make sense because they did give up a pretty significant package to get him.
  10. The lineup is already quite a bit better than the mid to late 90's teams, adding in guys like Arcia, Hicks, Benson etc only helps booster your club and allows you trade trade away some aging assets to keep the farm restocked. Yeah I was a bit aggresive on Rosario, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him move quickly next year from A+ to AA by the break. Maybe we could see him next Sept, but he is still super young. Even with Gibson, Hicks, Arcia and Benson all potentially being up sometime in 2013 it is something to be excited about, that is four of our top 6 or 7 prospects.
  11. The problem with Baker heading into this season is both he and the Twins have every reason in the world not to shut him down for the season. I think they both handled the situation rather poorly, moreso the Twins with the bizarre front office comments. But when a player is heading into his walk year I imagine most will do anything to stay off the DL/surgery. It's the exact same thing that happened to Pavano, everyone could tell he was injured and had nothing left, but he tried to gut it out since it was his walk year as well. Now Pavano will have to take a minor league deal with a team and Baker will be looking at a very low 1-2 mil guaranteed deal. I can't fault either for trying to gut it out as long as possible.
  12. It's quite a bit different. The Twins have a solid 25-30 million to spend in free agency this off-season to obtain some SP help. Also next year should be exciting with Gibson, Arcia, Benson, Hicks and possibly Rosario all seeing some time at the major league level.
  13. I'd take Schierholz, but only because I went to high school with his wife (who is quite the looker), and with Dinklemann not sniffing the majors anytime soon the Twins could use some new WAG prospects.
  14. It's reality. If the Twins want to hang onto their already dwindling season ticket holders for 2013 you have to give them some hope/etc for coming out to the ball park next year. I'm not advocating selling the future off for 2013 and keeping the eye on really being competeitive for 2014, but at this point holding onto Morneau isn't going to cost us any top prospect or anything. (and if a team wants to over pay now, then trade him)
  15. Also if you keep him around for 2013 you can atleast create the illusion that you are trying to compete, heading into next season the Twins more or less have a lineup that can win you ball games. If Gibson comes back healthy and they can some acquire a couple solid SP you could be looking at a .500 or so team, and in the central that means you are actually in the race most of the time!
  16. Hanley has actually had two pretty medicore seasons in a row, that definately raises some serious red flags for me, perhaps there is an undisclosed injury that is bugging him or perhaps he isn't 28? Either way the Marlins sold him at his low point as he no longer is a capable shortstop (always put up pretty bad numbers) in fact he rates below average at 3rd base this year as well. I don't see how this really effects Spans and Willinghams trade value as Hanley is owed over 30 million in 2013/2014. The Dodgers are taking a pretty big risk bringing that contract on, and unless he can somehow get back at minimum his 2010 days he will not be worth the money. (Even his 2010 numbers were a sharp drop off of nearly .100 OPS of his prior 3 seasons) It's apparent the Marlins didn't think he would get back to being a true asset so they dumped him while they had a chance, Eovaldi isn't the greatest prospect in the world but he should slot into that rotation quite nicely. Also an interesting note: Morneau has a higher OPS+ then Ramierez this year FWIW.
  17. Yeah....Willingham prob needs to start DHing more, he is a freaking embarrassment out there.
  18. I'm not really worried that guys like Fien and Robertson are struggling, both are pretty "meh" pitchers who never figured into any sort of long term plans anyways. Color me concerned if Duensing, Perkins and Burton all start looking awful.
  19. Willingham with his best Delmon "Wallp***y" routine on that one.
  20. Honestly it's tough to tell, I thought he caught it and his glove was underneath it. You are missing a great Hawk meltdown. "That is BS, That is BS" x 5 "Man I wish I could cuss right now"
  21. He is also finally starting to hit lefties decently again, if he can continue that trend he has plenty of value as he is also very nice defensively. The more I think about it the more I think maybe the best course of option is holding onto him until next trade deadline season, if he can be hitting well at that point he could net some real nice pieces back in return. Also FWIW if he proves healthy I wouldn't mind inking him to another 1-2 year deal after next year. Other then Sano there really isn't a player in the org who I would be excited about at first base anytime in the next few years. Parmelee could be nice but I'm not sold yet.
  22. Morneau now 2 for 2 against a LHP tonight. Super Super encouraging.
