  1. Are we allowed to be negative about DeDuno yet?
  2. Well that wasn't predictable in the least. It was a good run Sammy.
  3. Nishioka ****ting himself in the field again. Drink 3.
  4. This last episode was utter crap.
  5. It's actually Mauer.
  6. He was implying any pair of them. Cy Santana/Radke/Diamond/Liriano(he'd still be around!)/whoever That is a winning rotation right there.
  7. This thread needs more dogs named after Twins players: http://i49.tinypic.com/29dbv5e.jpg
  8. I don't care what his career mark is, he has been crappy the past 3 seasons and his fielding has been average at best (very genrous) You could use a similar argument on why the Twins should sign Manny Ramierez. Again if he had another year or so of team control he might (personally I don't think so) be worth taking a flyer on, but as an impending free agent there is zero reason for the Twins to have any interest.
  9. Lopez WAR: 2010: 0.4 2011: -0.2 2012: -0.5 He has been bad at 3rd the past two years defensively and is average at best at 2nd base. He also hasn't played SS since 2004 (not sure if you said he could play SS, but if you didn't I apolgize)
  10. 2010: .609 2011: :617 2012: .639
  11. If Morneau and Willingham are healthy and effective there is no reason to take them out of the lineup one day a week. Mauer/Doumit are obviously a diff story with the catching/injury thing. I'd imagine most managers wouldn't do something like that. If Parmelee comes up and starts mashing in the bigs they will figure out a way to keep his bat in the lineup. (See: Mark Trumbo)
  12. Hopefully Plouffe proves to be a valuable asset at 3rd base for the foreseeable future. If Joe moves to 3rd base I think it would be a full time move since he would have to continue to hone his craft at the hot corner. It is much easier for him to catch a few times a week and play 1st base when he needs a break, seeing how the skill set to play 1st is very minimal. (If that makes sense?) At this point I like the current usage of Mauer, I wouldn't mind him catching more, but when you have a guy like Doumit who is perfectly capable there is no reason to not run them out there 50/50. Also one thing we should keep in mind moving onto 2013: Span, Morneau, Mauer, Doumit and Willingham have all had injury issues multiple times in the past. It's amazing they have stayed as healthy as they have this year as a whole, but I wouldn't be shocked if one or two went down for a decent amount of time next year (thus freeing up even more at bats for Parmelee) and while I think Parmelee has some potential, I don't think he is the type of player who you move a Morneau for at this point to free up a spot for him. Next year at the deadline if the Twins are out of it? Different story. If a team offers you one of top 25 pitching prospects in baseball? Different story.
  13. I thought it was a little silly for one of the bloggers (aside from the big 5 on this board) to say this was his least favorite part of the site.
  14. There is zero reason to bring a turd like Lopez into the organization. Perhaps if he had another year of team control left (see: Burton) he would be worth taking a flier on. But nothing worthwhile can really come from picking him up since he is an impending FA anyways, and really isn't that good.
  15. 1. Ryan wasn't the GM! Smith was! At the end of the day it's the GM's decision on who to sign, who to trade etc. If the GM doesn't have the final say then you are in a Steinbrenner type situation, and from what I have seen the Pohlads usually don't get super involved in player decisions (other then oking the payroll increase to sign Mauer) 2. 4.57 ERA is worth 20 million a year? I get he was "sexy" coming over, but he is suddenly looking like a majority of the other pitchers that came from Japan, they are able to fool hitters for a bit since there isn't a whole lot of tape/scouting report on them, and then people begin to figure them out. In his last 10 starts he has a 5.94 ERA. He's giving up a lot of hits and walks. Not saying he will be a Nishi level bust, just that he won't live up to the money they spent to get him as he settles in as a #3/#4.
  16. I feel like the people who are complaining that the Twinsdaily message boards are "way to negative" have never ventured into an internet forum, blog or comments section before. Yes, some people are negative, these things will happen when you have one of the worst teams in baseball two years in a row. However these forums are some of the more balanced ones I have seen. Of course there are a couple people who take different viewpoints/sides to an extreme, but it's really not that hard to avoid them. The Twins are currently the 2nd worst team in the AL, nobody should be jumping for joy right now as Twins fans. Though I certainly think we have a decent shot in 2013 if Ryan gets the job done this off-season.
  17. I'm pretty sure he is joking. At one point he was supposed to crash on my couch for a weekend here in NY for the playoff series.
  18. I am optimistic as they come, but this is unfair. Dedundo will be messed up by the pitching staff? Nobody is saying that. People are saying that its hard to imagine him continuing to pitch well when he is walking more guys than he is striking out. There is nothing negative about that, its reality. Willingham- Last place teams should always be open to trading their veterans. I'd hate to see the Hammer go personally, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't explore trades. Nobody is trashing Diamond, he just isn't an ace. But has the potential to be a very nice #3 on a COMPETING team. Morneau- See: Willingham. Revere- has been a nice surprise and is over preforming expectations. The Twins have TONS of OF depth in the majors and minors, they should be trying to trade at least on OF this off-season for SP help. Mastrionni- I don't get your point at all. Most people are very happy with Mastro and would like to see him play 2B since he could benefit the team more that way. By the end of next season Mastro could be the 6th best OF on the Twins major league roster (if he isn't let go by that point)
  19. I couldn't see that happening with Ryan at the helm, no way would he allow that much money to be tossed aside for a Japan PR effort/what not. I'm pretty sure the Rangers did the same thing, now they are stuck with a #3/#4 in Darvish who they shelled out over 100 mil for.
  20. One could argue that neither "deserves" to be in the majors now. I like Doziers potential, but the guy has a .269 OBP and .324 slugging%
  21. How many at bats does Dozier have in the majors this year? 300 How many at bats does Nishi have in the majors this year? 5 Dozier is going to end up with at least 4 times as many at bats and Nishi won't be around next year as well. That isn't the message they are sending.
