  1. Safeco is one of the best ballparks in the bigs. Just go on stub hub and sit behind home plate for like $30. Try an Ivars "dog" or some Ivars clam chowder. Lotta good beers in the stadium as well.
  2. There is zero reason to start our top prospects "clocks" in a lost season. I would like to see Hendriks up though, but understand why he isn't.
  3. Yup, heading into the season they were counting on him being the every day RF IIRC, but Revere out played him.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if Berrios passes Gibson and cracks at least some of the top 100 lists for next season. Unless Gibson has a stellar AFL performance, he is probably behind even Hendriks in some lists. Hendriks is over the limit to be on lists. But it brings up another good point, guys like Parmelee, Hendriks, Diamond and Plouffe are obviously no longer prospects, but have the ability to be young impact players in 2013+ The Twins have a nice little youth movement on their hands.
  5. Also it should be noted that the Twins didn't actually sell Young at his "low point", that happened this year with his hate crime/awful fielding/80 OPS+
  6. Also they should have quite a bit of nice talent at the high levels of the minors. Even Sano and Rosario will be in A+, while Arica, Gibson, Hicks, Benson will all be close to major league ready/AAA
  7. Yes, I'm generally not a fan of trades made in the manner in which this one was completed. I'm also generally not a fan of "sell low" moves. Does this revoke my fanhood? This is some pretty severe hindsight, and I'm not sure the market would have been as great as some think. Delmon was coming off a career year, the rest of his career was rather underwhelming and he had/has zero positive impact in the field. Could we have gotten a better package then Oliveros? Sure, but it's not like we are getting a Garza type impact player back..
  8. It saved a million bucks or so and they got a C- prospect back, much better then cutting him prior to 2012. Fun fact: Delmon makes about the same salary as Willingham this year.

    Strasburg

He will be even more dominant next year and in the future. I guess they could have DL'ed him, but perhaps shutting him down, then ramping him back up causes issues as well. They took the same approach with Zimmerman and it appears to have paid off, I don't blame them one bit for doing it with Stras. Also, people act like the Nationals will suddenly be not able to compete in the playoffs, the rotation is still pretty damn solid with Gonzalez/Zimm/Jackson, even without Stras pitching 1 to 2 times a series I still think they have just as good of a chance to win it all as any of the NL teams do. Also, the Nationals most certainly will be better in the future, Ramos will be back, Harper will only be getting better, Rendon will be knocking on the door and guys like Cole and Meyer should be up in a couple years making a great rotation even better. In addition, they have shown in the past that they are willing to be a big player on the FA market, people forget that they were a big player for Prince Fielder last off-season (along with another top FA the year before IIRC) now that the Nats are a legit team, free agents will actually start signing with them. Yes, nothing is guaranteed in this game, but I'd be willing to bet anyone that the Nats make the playoffs at least 2 more times in the next 4 years. As mentioned before: The Phillies are a disaster, The Mets are the Mets and the Marlins tore it all down, the only thing they have to "worry" about are the Braves, who the nationals will be a far superior team moving forward.
  10. Glad to hear him working on the curve ball, if he can better that pitch it could take him from potential middle of the rotation/#4 guy to a legit chance to be a #2. It's to bad Hendriks isn't considered a "prospect" any more. Obviously it doesn't make a difference other than the top lists, but if you include him somewhere in the Gibson/Benson/Harrison group (top 10) it makes the farm system look even better.

  12. LOL the amount of butt hurt that happened over trading Billy Bullock perhaps was only matched by the amount when Eduardo Morlan was included in the Garza deal. It's funny how some people can be completely blinded by all other stats when they see a nice k/rate. Who cares that he walks 7 guys per 9 innings, he doesn't pitch to contact!!!1!
  13. I'd personally try to make a trade for Jed Lowrie, shoudln't take a whole lot and he does have team control for a few years. He is a risk injury wise, but I think at worst he becomes a part time solid contributor for the team. And the Astros need minor league depth at this point, could prob get him for a 20-30 prospect or two.
  14. I am a homer no doubt, but I think the Twins are legitimately a top 10 farm system in all of baseball, if they could find a couple more arms we would be talking about a truly special group heading into 2013. Sano and Buxton are both top 25 guys. Hicks and Arcia should be close to the top 50, and guys like Rosario, Gibson and Benson should crack the occasional top 100 list. In addition there are several other high upside guys such as Berrios, Goodrum, Harrison and more.
  15. I forgot how often we've endured "Ryan Doumit: Outfielder" of late. If we can put up with that, we can deal with Parmalee out there. Quite frankly, Doumit should move to the role he was signed for (bench) to make room for Parmalee. Doumit has a .834 OPS this year and a .830 OPS last year. A guy like that shouldn't be riding the bench. More than likely, one of Willingham, Morneau, Span, Mauer or Doumit will get injured at some point anyways. I think people are getting a little "happy feet" when it comes to Parmelee, things will work out sooner or later. No need to trade him, or someone else just for the sake of opening up a roster spot.
  16. Morneau will only be here 1 more year max! I'd wager there is a 50/50 chance he is traded before next season, and a 80% chance he is traded before the deadline next year. I know Parmelee isn't a great OF, but if need be you can probably live with him in RF/DH for half a season or so. (perhaps Parmelee and Doumit switch off between RF/DH)? That of course would assume that one of the OF would be traded before next season, which I also think their is a great chance. At the end of the day, I'd say there is a great chance that one of the following players will be traded: Span, Revere, Morneau, Willingham. If one is traded, then Parmelee has his everyday role. No need to trade Parmelee at this point, that would be a massive mistake unless someone wants to grossly overpay.
  17. Andrus also only has 2 more years of team control.
  18. I might win the losers bracket, my pitches have been on fire. Cobb has been a pleasant surprise.
  19. rhey will get Miguel back during the post season (minus 4 games)
  20. Hughes sucks, and we would only have him for 1 year. No thanks. If Span is traded it needs to be for a high upside pitcher who has more than 1 year of team control left. I would be for a Span for Andrus trade.
  21. There is zero chance that Span/Willingham would clear waivers, and I would have to imagine the Dodgers at the very least would block the Giants for Morneau (if he even made it that far) With his recent resurgence I doubt the Twins would let Morneau go for just salary relief at this point anyways.
  22. Though it ended in a K, that was a nice at bat by Revere.
  23. He had a nice run for Detroit in the last month of the season last year, but this year he has been dreadful (-.7 WAR) The guy had a golden opp this year hitting behind Miggy and Prince and laid a big turd, if he would have taken advantage of the situation he could have been looking at a nice contract at the end of the season, now he will be lucky to get a major league contract next season.
