  1. Make backhanded compliments all you want, the dude has the 4th or 5th highest QB rating in all of football, and has yet to make any real harmful mistakes. The most encouraging thing is he appears to be improving each and every game. The guy will never be a Brees/Rogers/Brady type, but could end up being a damn fine QB for us moving forward. Any thoughts on all those Toby fumbles? With Peterson back at 100% and them using Harvin out of the backfield 3-4 times a game, is it even worth having Toby on the roster? Too bad we can't showcase him a bit then trade him for a 3rd rounder or a WR or something. I think Toby could actually be a solid asset for a number of teams in the league (maybe not a starter, but a 50/50 type guy on a team without any elite RB's)
  2. TD Demo Predictions: 18-25: 20% 25-35: 40% 35-50: 30% 50+: Ofx, Chief and Oldladytwinsfan 0-9: Dankind Sex: Male: 97% Ethnicity: White: 95% Boozes: 90%
  3. Yep, but Analytics is pretty shoddy when it comes to demographics. They give you great information about location and technical specs of the user, but nothing about age/gender/etc. It's pretty obvious why they do it (Google has no idea who is actually sitting in front of the computer) but it's still lacking when we're trying to really dig into our target demos. Quantcast is pretty good and they are free, I'd suggest signing up with them as they seem to hit demos overall quite a bit better.
  4. Are you guys signed up with google anaylitics as well?
  5. Vikings looked really good yesterday, 2-1 now, wish we were 3-0 but can't complain to much. 7-9 or 8-8 looks very possible at this point. Ponder without a doubt has looked pretty damn impressive thus far completeing like 70% of his throws and having 0 Ints. It will be interesting to see how much the passing game improves with Simpson comimg back, besides Harvin and Rudoplh the rest of the WR/TE's have been atrocious thus far (Armashdou whatever his name is, looks like a decent enough #3 though i guess)
  6. A-Rod gets 30 million a year, if someone could prove to post a 1.150 OPS year in year out they could probably command close to 40 mil a year at this point.
  7. Yeah there is really no reason to just cut him, its not like the 40 man roster will be over jammed with talent and you can just stash him in AAA and hope he can somehow regain some of his prior form, if not, then he is no worse in your AAA rotation then a Luke French or whatever. My expectations are dead low, but I am still a Blackburn fan, it would be nice to see him contribute at some point in 2013, even if it is just for a spot start or so.
  8. Amen! I'd say the odds of Baker throwing 150+ IP next year is about the same as Peavy. As much as people want to get down on their knees for the almighty Jake Peavy all of a sudden, it should be noted that the White Sox have paid 48 million to him thus far for 417 IP of 4.18 ERA ball over three years...yeah... what a god damn workhorse he is! In comparison the Twins have paid Pavano (who is considered a "meh" signing around these parts") 24 mil for 506 IP of 4.27 ERA ball over the same time period. So is Peavy really the answer when Pavano has given you better numbers at 50% of the cost?
  9. The difference between Span and Revere is that Span is a legit and very solid major league CF. Revere is a 4th OF who had a lucky/whatever you call it first half to 2012 that made him seem like some real option in the OF. As far as 2013 goes, Revere can be a perfectly fine stop gap at CF for a year or so until Hicks or someone else is ready to step up, but make no mistake about it, Span is twice the player Revere will ever be. Revere has value, but he is basically a poor man's Juan Pierre, which isn't exactly saying a whole lot. I for one can't wait for Hicks to take over CF and send Revere back to the 4th OF/PR role where he utimately belongs in.
  10. The only true "lock" for the rotation in 2013 at this point is Diamond. DeDuno has been decent, but I highly doubt he will be handed a spot for 2013 any time soon, will he be in the running and a good shot to make it? yup! But lock at this point?nope.
  11. Marcum has not been mediocre at all. While injured in 2009, he has posted sub 4.00 ERAs in 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2012. That's 550ish innings of sub 4.00 ERA. If the Twins aren't going to be willing to throw $30 over 3 years for someone like that, forget about trying to compete and especially forget about trying to win in the playoffs. Marcum has proven he can pitch in the AL East with an ERA+ well over 100. I'll take it. He hasn't been quite as good with Milwaukee (surprisingly) but I think he's still a decent pitcher. He has lost something on his fastball (down in the 87mph range now) so he's not my first choice but he wouldn't be a terrible signing by the Twins, I think. It's all relative, if the Twins can get him on a 2 year/18 mil deal its a good signing, but the minute you start competeing with a bunch of other teams to overpay him, its a bad signing plain and simple. The rotation is absolute dog **** no doubt, but the solution isn't to go out and over pay for a bunch of "solid #3 type guys" the solution is to trade some assets for some high upside guys who can be top of the rotation guys, and give 1-2 year deals to guys who's value is low, but have the potential to be high upside guys (see: SCOTT BAKER!!!!!!)
  12. $30 mil over 3 years? yeah I would be all over that one champ, but notice I said 40 mil over 3 years, which is what it would probably cost. No thanks. He is one the wrong side of thirty...let someone else over pay for him at this point.
  13. Even though there are a good number of solid #3's out there, I'd rather the Twins not do something stupid like giving one of them 40 million over 3 years. The only thing worse then over paying for elite players is over paying for mediocrity like a Marcum or such. Hopefully the Twins can find the right guy(s) to give the right deals to.
  14. The Rays aren't going to give away Price for a guy who hasn't played above low A ball. I could see them doing a deal around Profar+more from the Rangers.
  15. Not sure I would call that hazing.......
  16. No way. Peavy has way to many injuries and inconsistencies to be a top of the rotation guy, and Dempster is no where near that as well. I view him as a pretty "meh" #3 in the AL.
  17. This would be a nice sweep if they can pull it off.
  18. Sorta suprised Valencia isn't playing for Israel as well. Also is Punto going to be on team Italy again?
  19. The Twins won't be able to fix this rotation soley through Free Agency. If they really want to have at least an average rotation heading into next year they need to do the following: 1. Gibson needs to step up by June. 2. They need to trade Span/Morneau/Willingham for a legit high upside arm. 3. They need to find the "Willingham" of SP on the FA market. I can't see them competing for anyone that has #1/#2 or even high end #3 type stuff on the FA market, much of the burden will fall on shrewd trades or if Gibson/Baker can step up and be a #2 in 2013.
  20. Definately trade Span now. Yes, Revere's OPS is dropping and yes there are questions on whether he is a long term option as a leadoff/starting CF. The nice thing though is he at least can be a decent stop gap until Hicks is ready to take over CF full time in 2014. Morneau has value, but his will only continue to go up if he stays healthy/productive into the 2013 season, in a perfect world a team gets desperate for a bat at the deadline and you have another Beltran/Wheeler trade on your hands. Parmlee in RF doesn't kill you, and more then likely he will get some starts at 1B and DH as well.
  21. That makes sense as is the correct thing to do.
  22. Revere will be a decent stop gap at worst, Hicks should be ready to man CF within a year/1.5 years.
  23. I actually think De Vries has the potential to stick as a #4/#5 guy, he has a great walk rate, and is actually able to strike out a few guys. I'd much rather they give him a spot instead of wasting 3 million on a Marquis type, the Twins need to be focused on bringing in front of the rotation guys this off-season (#1/#2) I am pretty sure #3/#4/#5 can be filled out with Diamond, Gibson, Hendriks, DeVries, Baker etc.
  24. Keep Morneau around for now, Span is going to get you a better package at this point anyways. If the Twins compete in 2013, then roll with Morneau, if they fall out of it you can easily trade him at the deadline and probably get a much better package then currently. A lineup of Revere Mauer Willingham Morneau Doumit Parmele Plouffe who cares who cares Would be pretty damn nice.
