  1. Twins keep doing the things they need to do to win, every day seems to present a new "hero". Rosario looks more and more legit in both the field and at the plate. Good to see Hicks hit a bomb, hopefully this can jump start his offense a bit.
  2. I meant that is on the major league roster (or could be called up right now)
  3. I got them at 35:1 odds to win the Central (125:1 to win the world series) I wonder what the odds will be if they tie the Royals today? Maybe 3:1?
  4. Glad they are giving Tonkin some high leverage work. He is our best chance internally at this point for a "shut down" 8th inning guy semi long term.
  5. Hunter gets after balls pretty well with that fork being stuck so far in on him and everything.... :whacky028:
  6. SSS? Guy has a 5.75 career ERA, hard to blame the Twins for letting him walk, I mean I guess good for him if he can end up a decent middle relief pitcher for a year or two.
  7. I dunno who you would replace in the rotation right now with Milone, I guess you could replace Nolasco, but he is starting to look halfway decent. Pelfrey, Hughes, Gibson and May have all done enough to stay in IMO.
  8. Yeah the pen is a ticking time bomb, the SP going deep helps obviously, but they have got to find a couple more guys you can count on. Tonkin and Oliveros (if they can step up) seem to be a decent start to that. They definitely could use one more guy who actually has the potential to put it in the seats. As of now, Plouffe, Dozier and Hunter are the only real threats, and they all seem like 20-25 HR guys overall at this point then 30-35 HR guys at this point. If Arcia or Vargas could step up, it would be beyond huge.
  9. And if not, just DH him. No shame in being a DH if you are putting up 35 HR a year.
  10. If you are able to play 3rd base in the majors, you probably should be able to hold down RF decently as well. The fact is, Sano isnt going to be a defensive asset most likely any position he is at. Much rather hide a liability in Rf instead of 3B
  11. Twins are on pace for 97 wins now, but even if they go .500 (or let's round up, one game above .500 bc odd number of games left) they end up at 86-76, right on the cusp of the playoffs. At the very least we should expect this team to at least play at a .500 clip, especially with reinforcements on the way, anything less than .500 ball from here on out would be a dissapointment in my eyes anyways, thoughts? It's nice to have this team looking this great!
  12. too early, and fwiw dude has come up huge with runners on (dozier/hunter) I would think about moving mauer to 2nd for a bit to "get him going"
  13. I'm glad Molly did the right thing in that situation and brought in Perkins in the 8th. I'm pretty sure anyone else promptly gives up multiple runs to Pablo and Hanley.
  14. Mauer isn't going back to catcher, nor should he. Let's put that to rest, it's over. Likewise: plouffe isn't going back to SS (Sano too for that matter)
  15. Yeah the Dodgers would never do that deal, also nolasco provides negative value. Urias might be the best pitching prospect in baseball at this point, kid is insane.
  16. If the Phillies offered up Hamels for a Berrios centered package the Twins would be extremely foolish to turn that down. Yes, Hamels is owed a lot of money, but he is one of the rare guys who actually lives up to those huge numbers and the risk is pretty minimal at 3 or 4 years.
  17. Yeah I don't see an issue there at all and I could see that working out well for Sano.
  18. Sano is already 260 LB's and only 22, the reality of the situation is and always has been that even if he did play 3B in the majors it would likely: A. Be only for a few years at most. B. At best would be somewhere between mediocre and average at best. Sano has a bat that can play anywhere, when you have that sort of upside/potential a team can easily find him a spot. Do you think the Red Sox worry that David Ortiz has never been an asset in the field? Likely he won't be up til August anyways, at that point DHing him for a couple months isn't going to hurt him or the team (and you can always spot start him at 3B and 1B or even RF once a week or so if you want) Next year you figure out if you want him in RF, 1B or 3B (If they can get equal value for Plouffe, which is unlikely IMO)
  19. Santana doesn't really have any legit value at this point, his hitting is a mess (and it looks like his 2014 was fueled by luck) and his fielding at SS has already gotten him benched (for now). There is no way Cleveland would do that trade anyways, and the Twins would be foolish in there own regards in shopping Sano before he ever takes a Major League at bat.
  20. Also lets put this notion of trading for Lindor, Russel etc to bed, it's not going to happen at this point. Additionally there is next to a zero % chance the Twins trade Sano anytime soon, they put a lot of eggs in that basket several years ago when they signed him as a 16 year old. You just don't all of a sudden trade him because his primary position (maybe) could be blocked for a couple years.
  21. I think the odds of Sano being even close to equally as good defensively as Plouffe in 2015 at 3B is nil, and even in the future the odds aren't that great. This isn't fantasy baseball, so frankly the best defensive guys should be in the field at any given time. I think Sano is going to have enough on his plate facing Major league pitching, so he should be fine for a year or two as a DH (with the idea of giving him a spot start at 3B or 1B once a week or so) I don't get why everyone is so ready to get rid of young productive players who play premium positions? A year ago it was argued that Dozier should be traded since it was known that Rosario could instantly fill in for him. It isn't even known if Sano can handle 3B in the majors, and until we know that for a fact, I'm not willing to move Plouffe (who is 9th in the MLB in offensive WAR) either in a trade or positionally. When we are DHing guys like Nunez/Escobar, and have guys like Schafer/Hicks etc getting at bats by the truckload, I think we can figure out a way to find Sano at bats. We have always known that the majority of Sano's value will come with his bat anyways, so I don't think we need to make sure he absolutely has a spot ready for him at 3B.
  22. Lets not get complete sidetracked on that one throwaway thought.
  23. Yeah it gets kind of annoying, there is a middle ground where the Twins can be buyers and not have to give up any of their blue chip prospects. You won't get guys like Hamels/Tulo, but there is a whole other group of players who will likely be on the block come July: Adam Lind is one guy I would target, the Brewers likely won't be contending and Lind would be a great DH and a lefty to boot. If the Astros begin to slide, I could see Rasmus being on the block as well, but I have a feeling they try to lock him up as he has been a real nice addition for them. Cesepedes could be an interesting boom or bust type to bring in as well. If the Yankees/Red Sox fall out of it, I would look at Napoli or Garrett Jones as well.
