  2. Oh agreed 100% But if the choice to bring in pitching help was between trading Escobar or a "decent" prospect or two, I'd maybe lean towards Escobar. Just my opinion. But I wouldn't mind giving up any of the non elite prospects as well, when you have a chance to make the playoffs you need to "go" for it, I'm not saying sell the farm, but just make a couple moves to help things. But, these are all GOOD problems to have Much more fun then the twins being 15 games out already and discussing how everyone should be dealt!
  3. Good points. Though on the flip side, all of the above (other than the winning team aspect) could have been said about Nunez last year, and he netted us a guy in Mejia who certainly has promise as a SP and has shown some flashes (though has struggled his share as well) Basically: you never know what the trade value of a guy is until you trade him. All it takes is a contender to lose a 2B, 3B or SS
  4. If the Twins hope to continue to contend, at least 2 of those guys will have to step up somewhat to help stabilize the rotation in the near and mid term this season. Might as well start now. It's not ideal, but it is what it is. Glad the Twins got the win today with berrios on the mound. For this upcoming series, as long as they win at least one game it will be "ok" Cleveland doesn't exactly have a lights out staff these days either....could be some fun shootouts.
  5. Yeah I feel like "average" RP are somewhat easy to get. The key is one close to shut down guy IMHO. Then just give up a couple non prospects for another average RP or two
  6. The Twins are only the following away from being a legit World Series contender: 1. Solid, reliable, healthy number 3 SP 2. A good 8th inning guy. 3. Another average RP or two.
  7. They should trade him immediately for either a legit #3/#4 starter with at least another year under contract/control or an 8th inning guy (ditto) The Twins need arms big time, and I tend to think that polanco is prob the future at SS anyways. Such a fun problem to have though!!!
  8. Dude don't do it. As long as you can make your mortgage payments on time just keep doing that, hold onto the stocks long term, as even if they dip in the short term they most certainly will go up mid to long term (or just re diversify) If you want to go a safer route, sell the stocks and put it in a betterment account, its giving me back 11% YTD, and haven't seen it really dip below 6%. Why give up solid returns to pay off a low interest (and tax friendly) mortgage?

  10. The crazy thing is that Hicks actually had a pretty good year the year prior! Instead of having patience and trying to fix him, Ryan panicked and traded him for a guy who's absolute ceiling was a backup Catcher. This could go down as one of the worst 5 trades of the last 25 years in baseball, easily.
  11. We got that out of the way by the third date.
  12. I was hanging with some sr Nvidia employees earlier today, they are all very pleased to say the least.
  13. T mobile? Hard pass. I work too hard to use a poor persons cell carrier What's next, cricket wireless? You should switch to AT&T brock!
  14. Yankees are a tough out for anyone these days, and I think this outing shows us what Meyer currently is: A #4 He may be able to develop into more than that, but needs to cut down on the walks big time!
  15. lol, yeah that is good advice, we both came from a family of 3 children so I am guessing that is where that will all end up shaking out. Kids, that's a whole nother thread for a whole nother day (hopefully not 2017!!!!)
  16. Yeah this is great advice, we sort of figured out the vacation mojo somewhat early on, but yeah, it took one trip to realize that her ideal vacation isn't a "lets just go camp at a NASCAR race all weekend and BBQ" type, but rather a "lets goto Europe" type. That was one change I happily made
  17. Already crossed that one off the list. We treat Mauer like a freaking price, and I think we are going to adopt a senior dog sometime shortly after the wedding.
  18. Yeah I think that is the best advice I could give anyone in a relationship. Having a few different interests and not spending every second together isn't bad thing at all, and in fact makes you appreciate the time you do have together even more. Frankly, I love it when she has a girls night or dinner with friends etc, allows me a chance to put the Twins game on the living room TV instead of the Ipad or bedroom TV Good point on the "change" part as well, we have been together 4 years so I think we sort of know the areas that will never change (she will never care about NASCAR, I will never organize my closet) I think co habitation has helped a lot as well as we have lived together for 3 years, I think that is the period you learn a TON about what another and various little details.
  19. Hicks with a double and game winning run tonight.
  20. So I realized today it's 2 months on the dot til I marry the future Mrs. DaveW Also today ended the three day bender otherwise known as MTL bachelor party/F-1 weekend (highly reccomend both) so it was quite a moment of clarity. I have been online "buds" with a lot of you for 10+ years and figured this would be an interesting expirement to see if you have any advice for a happy marriage. For the sake of this excersize maybe we limit it to a couple tips max. Overall I'm excited, ready, and all of that, literally the only thing I am nervous about is the first dance and not messing up a line or something during th ceremony.
  21. Also to be fair, Tex has more career WAR then Mauer. I'm still glad we drafted Mauer, but saying the people who wanted to draft Tex over Mauer were "wrong" is a weird thing to bring up. Since both ended up being elite players.
  22. Yeah you really couldn't go wrong with Mauer, Prior or Tex. If Prior had any other manager his first few years he likely would be a hall of famer. Tex put up 51.8 WAR as a first baseman and in his prime was one of the best hitters in all of baseball (perennial 35 hr 120 RBI guy) 5 seasons of .930 OPS or higher etc
  23. The fact that Radcliff still has one of the largest says in this organization is exactly the problem. Radcliff, like Ryan, Gardy and Tom kelley all had a fine run, but like the rest the game passed them by. Despite what the Twins will have you believe: a little bit Turnover every decade or two in any organization isn't a bad thingz
  24. Who was screaming about the Mauer pick? I have the ByTO archives as do you, other than Dankind I'm pretty sure universally the fans liked the move.
