  1. And Ryan leaving Berrios down in Rochester for another start next week is now just reason 50 on why he should be fired regardless at the end of this season. This current team is winning in spite of his constant conservative after conservative mistake. I'd LOVE to hear him give an explanation how Berrios isn't one of the best 15! Pitchers that can help the Minnesota Twins win now, in the rotation or in the pen.
  2. It's not about the scouts, it's Terry Ryan falling back on his conservative nature. Kepler doesn't make the team worse btw. He has to be added to the 40 man anyways next year, losing Aaron Thompson now or then is irrelevant.
  3. Agreed. As of tomorrow the PH options are in order: Vargas Robinson? Nunez? Santana? fryer? Hermann? No reason for that garbage of a hitting bench after sept 1st, with this AA/AAA talent and a team that has a couple holes in the lineup on a nightly basis!
  4. Kepler is mashing AA, no? Give him a shot at least, if he goes 0-8 against MLB pitching with 6k, then you deal with it. He is still a better Ph option then Herrmann, who the Twins apparently felt comfortable using as a PH the other day. Vargas shouldn't be the only "real" PH option tomorrow.
  5. Arcia should be up as well IMO, or at least one of Arcia or Kepler. With hicks on the DL the Twins current bench is pathetic, they needed to call up more than one bat IMO, Vargas is solid, but who is the PH with a LOOGY on the mound? Nunez? Yuck.
  6. count me in that boat as well, I always thought it was stupid to give up on liriano, period. Turned out to be David Ortiz 2.0, the twins didn't like his attitude and got rid of him when they could have kept him for next to nothing. Same happened with Matt Garza as well. Thank God we gave Nolasco 5x more money then we ever would have had to commit to Liriano!
  7. I ended up reading that in the thread right now, earlier today I thought that was the case but someone told meHe had to be up by sept 1, good to know. Guys like Kepler should be up now IMO. Tomorrows game is just as important as ones two weeks from now. Can't get enough legit bench bats currently IMO
  8. its stupid. They could call him up and rest him, get him used to the big league club.He earned it.
  9. The end of the minor league season should have zero to do with this IMO. When you have guys like Berrios and Kepler who instantly make your team better (while they are in the playoff race) I think they should be called up ASAP as well.
  10. What is the point of even having Berrios pitch even one inning tonight? If you are going to call him up tomorrow, why even risk it?
  11. Oh, I know, but every year there is at least one person who complains that a team didn't call up enough. My guesses would be: Pitchers: Acter Berrios one or maybe two of Tonkin+Darnell+Hamburger+Meyer Hitters: Pinto or Fryer (please be Pinto) Arcia Vargas Kepler Santana or Polanco (Though calling both up prob doesn't hurt anything)
  12. They have 7 more games vs Texas (including 4 to wrap up the season) and 4 against the Twins. They are certainly still a threat. Having 2 of the best 5 hitters of the last 50 years (Trout+Pujols) helps.
  13. I think its a 3 team race from here on out: Texas (obviously) Twins (Yay!) Angels I can't take Tampa, Cleveland or Baltimore serious at this stage of the game, though if anyone is going to suddenly jump back in it would be Baltimore with that lineup and Bullpen. Just keep Battlin.
  14. if Sano goes down for any extended period of time, 3rd base defense is the least of their problems at that point.
  15. Plouffe + Nolasco for Shields, Kimbrel a B+ prospect and 10 million in cash.
  16. Also while they could call up all 40 it wouldn't make any sense, the costs alone (salary, transportation, per diem, hotel) wouldn't be worth calling up an extra 7 or 8 guys (instead of 7-8 called up) just to have them sit on a crowded bench.
  17. It depends, teams that are "out" of it will typically call up more, since there will be more playing time available on meaningless games more or less. Teams "in it" will call up less, since they want to run their best 9 and best 5 out nearly every game from here on out. The Twins likely will only need to add 2 or 3 pitchers tops (just as extra insurance, anything more than that is overkill) As far as the non pitching goes, the bench is already small, so I would guess 5 hitters come up. One extra catcher (Pinto) One UTIL/INF type: polanco or Santana (though I could see both coming up) And a couple hitters: Kepler, Vargas, Arcia Finding at bats for all of those guys will be tough though. Most likely looking at a PH appearance a couple times a week each or so.
  18. No
  19. Anyone can take Santana's roster spot as long as they are with the organization by Sept 1st. If berrios earns a postseason roster spot, they will have no problem getting him onto said roster spot. People are worrying about a non issue
  20. I don't see him getting called up, I get that you want more bench bats this time of year (especially for the Twins) but I think Vargas, Arcia, Pinto and Kepler will be those "guns" off the bench. NTM Hunter. I'd rather they use the open 40 man spots for pitchers who can help.
  21. Jason Wheeler and Aaron Thompson could both easily be removed from the 40 man roster. Tonkin is another guy who the Twins could afford to lose. instead of wasting a roster spot and 40 man spot on Fryer, for 3rd catcher, why not just call up Pinto to serve as the emergency catcher, he at least has enough of a hit tool where he could be an asset as a PH, no? I know his defense isn't to the Twins liking, but as 3rd catcher it wouldn't be a whole lot of innings anyways. That allows Berrios and someone like Hamburger to take the easily opened 40 man roster spots.
  22. I would toss Plouffe or Mauer in RF in case they are needed in the playoffs/world series (no DH)
  23. Buxton looked solid at the plate today IMO, a double and a hit that should have went up the middle for a single. When Hicks is back the playing time should be as followed: Hicks: 99% of games. Rosario: 85% of games (sit against the occasional tough lefty) Buxton: 75% of games. Hunter: 30% of games Robinson: 10% of games.
  24. I think May at worst will be a solid 8th inning/closer type, but I think he should be given a shot in 2016 to be in the rotation to try to become a #2, if he can do that, awesome, if not and he looks more like a 4/5 you can always put him back in the pen to become an asset.
